Hey Davie, I find one fly that I missed seeing. I know I was in Hospital when this one was put up. Better of course. Fantastic looking caddis. In that color it would pass for an October caddis I think as well. Thanks for sharing. Even the best fans miss something. I do catch up eventually. You're the best, Sean
Davie. I tied a row of these in #14s and #16s. Anything smaller and the organza rib looks too bulky. They're an easy tie, and they look amazing. My problem is in getting the blighters to float for very long, despite the CDC and floatants. There has to be a way of making these good looking flies float permanently. I'm thinking about using tent waterproofer or some such. I have a can of Nikwax, which I used to proof my Tilley hat (that works). Maybe a good dunking followed by a few days drying in the breeze. Wouldn't floating organza be a wonder weapon! All the organza I've bought sinks like lead. John.
Hi Duofold, I agree it can be hard to keep them up for more than a couple of fish but they worked so well for the friends I originally tyed them for that they didn't care...I did soak them in Nikwax and found this to work a tad better as I do this with the cdc after I dye them..I see you have some so give it a go.. All the very best Davie
Really nice and realistic pattern thank you! Have you been able to test the swimming properties of Organza in rough waters? Is it possible to tie a brighter hackle (grizzly or beige) to better spot this pattern on the water? Thank you!
Hi laulbad, It does float well but I would have to fish with it just to see how well it sits after fishing as just sitting it in a glass of water like I have done is not a proper test..Use whatever you like in this fly as it's just an idea you can mess around with... All the very best Davie
Hi Freddie Boyd, I've only used the pseudo hackle on mini lures and some wets, it may be too heavy due to the edge of the hackle being quite stiff and thick but I wouldn't say no to trying it as like using the organza in a dry fly is not the norm.. All the very best Davie
Hi Zweimal, I use Mucilin on my dries but I do like to add it to my flies before I put them in my box allowing them to dry as they will last much longer than doing it on the water..I'm glad you liked the look of the fly.. All the very best Davie
Hi Caton Farm, One to one and a half times the hook length would suit most patterns though the long horn is at least twice the length.. All the very best Davie
Hi Leland Koser, I have attached a link to the dyes that I used to get the fiery brown on both the cdc and the organza... All the very best Davie www.veniard.com/product1787/section138/dye-tubes
Hi David, I'm using Veniard dyes to get the fiery brown in the video. I've always used these dyes as they sell the colours we like in the patterns we tye and fish... All the very best Davie

I nice "Delicate looking" fly,yet it should be quite robust with the reinforced hackle
merci pour le partage excellent
Hi Davie, brilliant idea, looks great, would pseudo do the same job?
Hi Freddie Boyd,
I've only used the pseudo hackle on mini lures and some wets, it may be too heavy due to the edge of the hackle being quite stiff and thick but I wouldn't say no to trying it as like using the organza in a dry fly is not the norm..

Thanks for getting back to me Davie, I'll try it and see how I get on, cheers Freddie
Looks like it would fish quite well! What do you recommend for floatant on this pattern?
Hi Zweimal,
I use Mucilin on my dries but I do like to add it to my flies before I put them in my box allowing them to dry as they will last much longer than doing it on the water..I'm glad you liked the look of the fly..

Are the horns, hook length as rule of thumb?
Hi Caton Farm,
One to one and a half times the hook length would suit most patterns though the long horn is at least twice the length..
