    What to do with vintage cups, bowls, vases, biscuit barrels, and covered boxes hiding in your cabinets? See candles created in antique and one of a kind vessels. Awesome finds filled with a proprietary wax blend, cotton wicks and unmatched fragrance. Bella's Candles delights in filling your special container from your personal collection. Martha Stewart inspired these during her show by melting down all old candles and repurposing in chipped cups and saucers. Tour the Round Top, Texas shop and see many upcycled finds sourced from London flea markets. Antique silver, cut crystal, Chinoiserie, and Imari steal the show with custom candles. These beauties are revived and given new purpose. Great gifts! Inspire the next generation with Grandma's vintage items repurposed into something to elevate their everyday. Silver Revere bowls are classic and the belle of the ball in wax. The fragrance bar is like a fine perfumery.

    Brilliant idea! Shape is everything it seems. One could start new Christmas or Diwali traditions. One would have to ensure that the vessel wasn’t porous if later intended for food. The perfume residue might taint cookies etc .

    • @LadyMaryBeth
      @LadyMaryBeth  9 месяцев назад +1

      Good point about porous materials. Cracked pottery and porcelain would definitely take on the fragrance. Then again, these are best not to use for food service once they are crazed.

      @@LadyMaryBeth very true. I was thinking about an earthenware pot I own. Looks like it would be a good candidate but the glaze isn’t watertight. Strange.

    Oh LMB what an enjoyable armchair shop that was, and what a wonderful way to use our items as candles I have never seen that done before, you really made me laugh when you had the Santa “larger than a Buick” wasn’t he a smasher, I liked your three outfits as well. Thank you for this entertaining and different experience and as always best wishes from UK. p.s. the wooden biscuit barrel was a staple in our homes when growing up. ❤

    I have made candles in glass dishes for gifts in the past, it works well. And you are reusing something that is beautiful. That may have been put in the bin.
    And is so easy to make, if you are on a budget, cheap to make your self, just be careful the wax is hot.

    Please let people know that when burning a large candle always make sure on the first burn to make sure the wax is melted all the way across the candle before blowing it out. If you do not you will end up with the candle continuing to burn straight down from where the melt stopped from that point on and you will struggle with drowning your wick.

    • @LadyMaryBeth
      @LadyMaryBeth  5 месяцев назад

      So true! The candle must "make a memory" for an even wax melt.

    I wonder if the candle flame will show through the china. Hopefully they won't crack from the heat. How do you know if it's heat and hot liquid resistant?

    • @LadyMaryBeth
      @LadyMaryBeth  10 месяцев назад

      As with any candle, do not allow to burn within one inch of the china or crystal. Waterford puts a sticker on all candleholders with this caution warning.

      I agree that they aren’t ruined at all. Plus, they are being used unlike so many “treasures” which people put deep in their cupboards because “they are too good to use” thus they are never enjoyed by anyone.@@LadyMaryBeth

    Stupid use for nice silver items, not to mention way over priced. And hard on the items and to cleanup after you've burned the candle. To much brainwave ideas and not much common sense. Oh beth mary lady wake-up.
