@@Diesel8290 im actually a om603 fan myself. a deisel needs t turbo to reach efficiency goals. why would a gas guzzling 5.7 ltr smallblock be your only choice. why couldnt we use a 130 hp 260 cid smallbock from the 50's. if you want to measure fuel mileage at a specific horsepower everything you measure will be very close. horsepower is a function of fuel used. the later smallbock with aluminum heads is very light compared to the 900 pound om 606. there are advantages and disadvantages of both engines. there are no advantages to a non turbo deisel over a turbo one. my 91 350sdl gets 32 on the highway. its a 6000pound stretch.
I like the twin-pass heat exchanger set up.
Much more efficient and better cooling than the run of the mill single pass systems.

without a turbo you might as well just use a marine version 350 chevy. thats alot of work for 65 horsepower.
Non turbo 606 is 130hp, more fuel efficient and lighter than Chevy

I don't know if the engine is already hot, but your water temp is way to low. Should be 85-90 °. Colder is not better !
