    Hi, really good build, I am doing the same with an OM606 and have a dieselpump UK injector pump. I am struggling to find a suitable water pump, I see you have a jabsco type pump, I don't suppose you have the model number for it? did it come with a serpentine pulley or did you make that up yourself?

      Hi Seanf42, Jabsco pump purchased from supplier who sales marinisation kits for mercedes engines (can send you details on pv) pulley i bought original mercedes part for the steering pump- fits perfectly.

    Very nice project indeed! I've done om602 turbo boat with a lot of work too.including watercut adaptation plate going from om602 to Mercruiser, raw water oil cooler, silent bloc mounted on 2 stainless steal plates allowing me to set the height of the engine right in front of the drive shaft and so on and so on. In my case I had no need to change IP. but i think your om603 have smaller elements inside resulting on slight but noticeable loss of power compared to the standard 177hp of the om606 turbo. dudes from finland and englands can fix that for a certain amount of money if you consider the power is worth the money. Wish you happy diesel boating!

      @STRACHU100  2 года назад

      yeah, i know, the sections are 6.5 instead of 7,5 or something. I check how it performs with this setting and then I can always upgrade th IP or turbo. I still have the o;d pump with the sections

      @@STRACHU100 yep i did the same on mine. actualy i do 27 knots (50kph) with the original settings on my skanes 575. I think i will add a inter cooler this year or the the next and it will be fine for me. maybe super power on my next project with an om606 this time. by the way did you cast yourself the bell Housing or did you bought it somewhere? it looks pretty and strong!

    Hope you have provision in that stainless steel heat exchanger for at least one zinc anode preferably 2 of them, normally one st each end of the tube stack.
    Even if 316 stainless has been used to make it saltwater will eventually pit and eat it away. The sacrificial anodes will help extend the life of h/exchanger.

    • @STRACHU100
      @STRACHU100  Год назад

      Thanks for your comment, I have been thinking about it, it can be done relatively easy. Should the exchanger rot away though its relatively easy to replace and not too expensive.

    Thank you very much for your clear explanations in your video. I am planning to find a OM606 engine as well. What injection pump did you put in? And did you make adjustments to it? Thanks

    • @STRACHU100
      @STRACHU100  2 года назад +2

      I managed to buy a pump from W140, 3,5 TD, which is supposed to give me more power and is fitted with ALDA- a pressure-vacum actuator to connect with turbo. I didn't do any adjustments myself however I had the pump proffesionally bench-tested prior installation. It is strongly recommended to do so to make sure its condition.

    Hi you done great job I have Cleopatra same as yours it’s got Volvo Aq145 and I’m thinking to change to on 606 and yeah idea when can I get the conversion or the website you bought the heat exchanger and what hp How many knots you could do many thanks

    • @STRACHU100
      @STRACHU100  2 года назад +3

      Thanks. How fast will she go is a bit of a gamble, with 4,6 l volvo she could make around 30 knots as I read. With this one I am hoping to reach 25 knots which will be more than enough for me. If I ever wanted to go faster I can always supercharge the engine (as I understand OM606 can be boosted up to as much as 600 HP!)
      As for the conversion parts I can PM it to you as puting it here is not entirely legal. just send me your email adress.
      Cheers

    Hello there... What pump are you using to circulate the sea water through the heat exchanger? I do not quite get that setup. I do direct keel cooling though but this pump looks cool and if it's an adapted item I'll like to grab it for a try. I've used OM366 LA and the OM441 LA. I want to try out the MAN 2865 Series. I'm out here in Nigeria.

      żadna tajemnica- kupiłem bardzo okazyjnie- 1000 funtów. kilka lat temu. Właściciel boatyardu chciał po prostu zwolnić miejsce. potem chyba trochę żałował. W UK jest tego sprzętu bardzo dużo więc takie starsze łódki do remontu są często dostępne. powodzenia w poszukiwaniach.

      Hi, its 150kW, the rule is relatively simple: it must always have more kW than the engine (around 10-15%) this one is made exclusively of stainless steel which is rare. could give you hints where to find it on PM as writing it here is not exactly legal

      docelowo tak, chociaż to jest spore wyzwanie, musiałbym go upchać pod wymiennikiem ciepła, poza tym najlepiej byłoby go wyspawać ze stali nierdzewnej a to dosyć trudne. na początek pewnie użyję oryginalnego kolektora mercedesa a wodę chłodzącą układ spalinowy wprowadzę za turbiną. najlepszym rozwiązaniem jest kolektor chłodzony zintegrowany z wymiennikiem, można takie kupić gotowe ale koszmarnie drogie!!!
