Not just "one of his biggest", BUT THE BIGGEST INFLUENCE & his No.1 singer!!!! Deep Purple in Rock album (the song Child in Time) was first thing rock/metal Bruce'd ever heard & so Ian Gillian became his first & biggest inspiration & his biggest idol til this day. Basically Ian & Deep Purple are the reason Bruce started singing & got involved in the rock/metal movement.
Bruce has stated many times that Ian Gillan is someone he modelled his style on in his early days. He said that Gillan's advice was to look the audience in the eye and not just be a singer but be a performer as well.
Holy crap! I clicked this thinking I was gonna be disappointed, but hats off to Dickinson... he didn't destroy one of my favorite songs from my old timey days. Reality is he did a remarkable performance on par with Ian Gillan's own. I am impressed.
MrMegaFredZeppelin I agree, but what what the hell was going on with that snare drum? It sounds absolutely awful and cut through the mix like a blunt knife.

Bruces Perfect Purples Cover !!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY (57th) BRUCE !!! (born on August 7th, 1958)
OMG!!!!!! Bruce has never sounded this fantastic. That last scream at the final 45 seconds, went higher and higher, final capsulation of the last note. I got a chub, great now what ??? :)
Really ? That was just a guess but it's quite obvious. I do prefer Bruce and Maiden to DP but there are some awesome songs from DP with Ian singing and I always preferred Ian with DP. Ray Gillan must have been a fan too lol. I miss Badlands with Ray and Jake. Cheers
Jani Virtanen hey I've been a Maiden fan for 37 years seen them 16 times live first time I heard Bruce singing this was tonight. Just blew my f****** mind awesome job second best concert ever seen besides being an Iron Maiden concert was Deep Purple Perfect Strangers tour was too young to see them first time that were out I couldn't agree with you more though Bruce his voice is f****** awesome on this phone thanks for putting it up. Not sure If I ever heard it otherwise thanks again man David and Seattle up the irons
I couldn't agree wish you more I've been an Iron Maiden fan for about 37 years I've seen them 16 times live this the first time I've ever heard that Bruce doing Perfect Strangers absolutely awesome thanks for posting it
Can you remember, remember my name? As I flow through your life A thousand oceans I have flown And cold spirits of ice All my life I am the echo of your past (echo of your past) I am returning the echo of a point in time Distant faces shine A thousand warriors I have known And laughing as the spirits appear All your, all your life shadows of another day And if you hear me talking on the wind You've got to understand we must remain Perfect strangers I know I know, I must remain inside this silent well of sorrow A strand of silver hanging through the sky Touching more than you see The voice of ages in your mind Oh, is aching with the dead of the night Oh oh precious life Your tears are lost in falling rain And if you hear me talking on the wind You've got to understand we must remain Perfect strangers
One of the best Deep Purple songs in a beautiful cover version from Bruce Dickinson. The lyrics are very interesting, it sounds like it is about a race or species which is more perfect and much older than mankind. Very interesting!
Gerald Hentrich According to Ian Gillan the song was partially inspired by reuniting with ritchie blackmore after ten years of having zero because there was still a lot of animus between them (and there still is to this day) and partly by relationship difficulties he was having in his personal life.
Hammerhead547 Difficulties in the personal life can give some sudden inspirations. I had read a lot about Sumerian history, especially books from Zecharia Sitchin and the lyrics seems to match to the old Sumerian gods, in Christianity they call them angels. The lyrics seems to fit. Thank you for your explanation.
+Gerald Hentrich Please refer to: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perfect_Strangers_(Deep_Purple_song) I am quoting: "This song is about reincarnation. It's a conversation between oneself from their past life and their present self. The song tells about memories this person has from their past life, but they (past and present self) "must remain perfect strangers" to each other."
Not rude at all, I quite agree. Accident of Birth and Chemical Wedding are among the best British metal albums of all time in my humble opinion 🤘🏼 Bruce rocks, his voice had never been better in that period and it has just got stronger since he rejoined Maiden 💪🏼
Bruce Dickinson is a monster of rock. His voice is an operical. In one word, he is one of the greatest singers in the world. One of the top 5 to me. I know this guy since 1982. Vincent la,Valletta malta.
This is so cool. He sounds like Ian too. Love hearing how Dickinson would sound in other bands Also love how his band plays perfectly with such passion!
Dude is amazing . definitely one of the greatest singers in metal.you have vocalist and you have singers.bruce is a singer which there are few of in metal.he can do others songs but hard to do his.heard a lot of people do maiden covers, some did good some not do well.ine if the best covers of a maiden song is children of the damn by Sebastian Bach he killed it
Bruce, in my humble opinion, is one of the most talented, yet professional singers in the metal / hardrock world. Metal forever! Thats for sure. Perfect Strangers is one of my personal favourites of DP, which are also one of my personal favorites. Actually, FOR ONE, I have to say I prefer DP's version just a bit more. Though, this version, even if it's a cover is so far better than 90% of the stuff stations air these days. Great tribute by a great singer for a great band.
Perfect Strangers in a Strange Land
Nice ;)
Igor Moreira Moraes deja vu
Nice said or Afriad to perfect strangers?😅😅
Igor Moreira Moraes great comparison!! Nice analogy. Nice pun!!
Igor Moreira Moraes xD
Bruce has said many times that Ian Gillan is one of his biggest influences...of course he's not gonna screw up a Deep Purple cover!
I am fan of Deep Purple and I have to say that is propably the best cover I`ve ever heard. Bruce`s voice is indescribable...
Yes Bruce is jst out of this world, won't ever be another like him.Bless him

Dickinson + Dream Theater = AWESOMENESS!!! Phenomenal cover.
My GOD! Covers usually suck, but Bruce fucking killed it on this song. His vocals are perfect!
+NoMoreHideTheBall Usually? what are you listening to, Six feet Under?
Bruce has stated many times that Ian Gillan is someone he modelled his style on in his early days. He said that Gillan's advice was to look the audience in the eye and not just be a singer but be a performer as well.
Yep. Young bruce was a mixture of Ian Gillan, Arthur Brown and Tom Jones what comes to singing style.
Toecutter "Notoe"
Ian Gillan and Bruce Dickinson are my two favourite singers. This is a great combo. I wish Bruce would cover Child in Time
Toecutter Heeded That Advice To Be Fuckin Sure!!! Great Version!!!
I'm still working on how to "reduce the audience to the size of me thumb," as Bruce does so well. It's getting there slowly.
A world without bruce dickenson is no world Id wanna live in!!....
one of Bruce's influences was Gillan
I hear him sounded almost exactly like him at times
he has one hell of a voice
Holy crap! I clicked this thinking I was gonna be disappointed, but hats off to Dickinson... he didn't destroy one of my favorite songs from my old timey days. Reality is he did a remarkable performance on par with Ian Gillan's own. I am impressed.

I absolutely adore singer , Bruce Dickinson. His work and collaboration with Iron Maiden has span a career of over 35 years. I LOVE IRON MAIDEN !!!
Love his voice, he's a GOD !!
Bruce's technique always reminded me of Ian Gillen.
Really ? That was just a guess but it's quite obvious. I do prefer Bruce and Maiden to DP but there are some awesome songs from DP with Ian singing and I always preferred Ian with DP. Ray Gillan must have been a fan too lol. I miss Badlands with Ray and Jake. Cheers
I loved this version with the king BRUCE!!!
Sir Bruce Dickinson and Dream Theater: EPICNESS Deep Purple cover song

I know, I must remain inside this silent well of sorrow
A strand of silver hanging through the sky
Touching more than you see
The voice of ages in your mind
Oh, is aching with the dead of the night
Oh oh precious life
Your tears are lost in falling rain
And if you hear me talking on the wind
You've got to understand we must remain
Perfect strangers
Great Dream Theater cover and great guest vocals by Bruce Dickinson on this live performance. Thanks for sharing man. Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do Hoeijmans it's a Deep Purple cover not a Dream Theatre one 😉
Do Hoeijmans it's a Deep Purple cover...long before Dream Theatre
I think he meant that as in it's Dream Theater covering the song.
DT plays the song and Bruce sings it
The best, voice beautiful......
One of the best Deep Purple songs in a beautiful cover version from Bruce Dickinson.
The lyrics are very interesting, it sounds like it is about a race or species which is more perfect and much older than mankind.

+Dimitrios Kalemis Thank you, this is a interesting point of view too. Because reincarnation means immortality or better eternality.
Perfect Troopers.

Mr Blue How is that rude?
Not rude at all, I quite agree. Accident of Birth and Chemical Wedding are among the best British metal albums of all time in my humble opinion 🤘🏼 Bruce rocks, his voice had never been better in that period and it has just got stronger since he rejoined Maiden 💪🏼
Oh yes, the Chemical Wedding is up there with Maiden’s finest offerings. Everything Bruce touches turns to gold 🤘

Bruce Dickinson is a monster of rock. His voice is an operical. In one word, he is one of the greatest singers in the world. One of the top 5 to me. I know this guy since 1982. Vincent la,Valletta malta.

ok, bruce dickinson does the best covers ever. hands down.
excellent rendition
This man is amazing
This is on his 50s and sings better than ever before. Just like Ozzy or Paul DiAnno.
I think this was recorded in the 1994/95, so Bruce would have been mid to late 30s at the time.
Aye, The Talisman is one of my favourite Maiden tracks. Excellent example of Bruce's vocal prowess
Perfect !
Because Bruce Dickinson still makes it exist. HE keeps it running.
Guitar is so brutal!!
I love the bluesy cry of Gillan, but this okay as well ;-)
great cover .... yeah
great version love it
THIS IS FANTASTIC !!!
