For all of those asking, the SAR Exfil back country does meet EN safety specifications which are higher than NFPA and ANSI. If you contact Team Wendy they will send you a list of the certifications that include NFPA and ANSI.
Great video Sam, you really have inspired me to get into EMS and the emergency field. I really appreciate your work and that you choose to share your knowledge on RUclips with us!
If you wear NVG’s or anything that has weight on the front, there is a counter balance weight and pouch that mounts on the back of the helmet with Velcro. Used them on deployment and they work
I bought this helmet last year and have been very happy with it. Typically we are issued Manta3’s but I didn’t mind spending more for the top quality and comfort the Team Wendy SAR provides.
With my experiences mainly being technical rescue and less rural SAR I'd probably still take the Pacific R6 for a modern style rescue helemet. EN16473 Rescue and EN16471 Wildfire are more robust standards than the mountaineering, industrial, and whitewater standards the Exfil adheres to, and if you can sacrifice venting the R6 Challenger and R6L Patroller meet NFPA1951 for rescue helmets for wildfire while still offering a lot of technicality It is a close race for looks though, they're both pretty slick!
Glad to see another video about these helmets! Out team just swapped over to these from a completely ridiculous (for tech/water rescue purposes at least) traditional structural fire helmet, and almost everyone in our department couldn't be happier. The one thing we've found is that the foam gets damaged rather easily, and seems to degrade rather quickly when regularly exposed to water. I'm definitely interested in their more alpine/snow specific helmet as well.
Structural helmet for water rescue? What planet did they live on? xD (Keep them for heavier technical rescue though. NFPA1951 is worth its weight with all manner of sharp things chasing your skull)
@@hvymtal8566 Definitely didn't articulate myself there very well; sorry for that. We use water-rescue specific helmets, and not fire helmets in/around the water.
Similar to the slightly less expensive Petzl Vertex Vent or Strato Vent series. They have attachable the eye shields too. No rails on them however. Which I always thought was a shame as they appear to be solid SAR helmets.
Still a very good low price option for rope rescue and light technical rescue. Besides, Blackjacks and similar can be mounted to damn near anything if you want a helmet light :)
Hey man I think it would be a good idea to do a video on administration of IN Narcan. In NY overdoses are unfortunately fairly common. Also in NY (idk about other states) Narcan is otc. So bystanders can identify and administer Narcan. It would also be good so that people are educated on exactly how to identify an opioid overdose and when to administer naloxone.
JoeDurobot $300 is a lot of money but when you compare it to other rescue helmets it isn’t that bad considering all of the functionality it brings to the table. It is really nice to be able to load out your lid for specific missions. The ballistic helmets that run in the $300 price range are (in my experience) really awful and uncomfortable.
I would not consider a ballistic helmet at that price. The dynamic between the shell and the fibers is complicated enough that pricing it that low... I'd rather take steel.
Any modern ballistic helmet worth it's weight will be $1,000+. If you really just need a slick bump helmet with no mounting points or modularity just get a ProTec. For the options this provides though, $325 is a fair price.
HI Sam, great video. We are looking at getting some of these helmets for Coastguard. Couple of questions, Does the Princeton Tech light fit with no additional attachments to the rail? Will the rail set up take MLOK accessories? Cheers and stay safe.
The price difference between a charge pro and a charge seems negligible and you get a fair bit more burn time. Are AA just that much easier to acquire vs CR123a?
How many times did you wear your rescue helmet on the job? Also you inspire me to keep pushing forward on my bad days at school when I get bullied, and/or even on my good days too! Wow that helmet is so amazing, well here in our country we only used ordinary helmet for responding any emergencies. hopefully I can have e helmet like that... but st's too expensive!
Over $300 for a plastic helmet? Kind of expensive. Looks good, and I'd like to have one, but man that's expensive. I have a Legacy Tm5 helmet that is brand new from several years ago and I don't think it was over $300, maybe right at 300, but seems to be a more substantial helmet.
Hi, Ron. We also offer a Backcountry version of the EXFIL SAR that retails at $184.45. It has a polycarbonate shroud for mounting cameras or lights vs. the Tactical version that features a machined aluminum Wilcox shroud built to the specifications of the SOCOM SPEAR program for mounting NVGs. It also has that has an under-the-chin retention system with a Fidlock buckle for one-handed release. You can also choose to purchase it with our without the side accessory rails.
