Another GREAT vid and you're 'spot on' with that smaller shake when hung up. I have to force myself to think 'twitch it lose' vrs 'SHAKE it snagged!' Cheers!
Nice video. It looked good out there. Havent fished Folsom for years. May have to give it a try this year. I usually fish the Delta area. Are they stoppig the boats for the Golden Mussel issue? Thanks for posting.
Something worth trying is going to Walmart and buying a bag of 1-2 oz disc sinkers. Then attach some big snaps to them. Keep them in your cupholder and you can knock out 8/10 snags you get as long as you don't yank on them super hard. Let it go down your line and you can bounce the snags right out.
I’ve been eyeing that NewJen pro/am 😂. Yeah man, Folsom gets a bad wrap for some reason but it sets up similarly. When the water comes up and gets in the trees, things get weird…
I know I should. I love fishing this time of year because there's no recreational boaters and the fair weather anglers are at home. I love winter fishing. I caught my Folsom PB December 2023 mid strolling. It was 3.15! Almost 4 pounder.
@@123zeroin it’s a general term for the lake(s) that have steeper bluff banks and general have a taller dam. Lakes like Oroville or Bullards are considered highland reservoirs. The tactical bassin guys talk about the differences between highland and lowland reservoirs in some of their videos. Great question. 🙌🏼🙂
@@chrisnelsonfishinglove, hate is the DEFINITION of Folsom Lake. It is definitely stingy, but very rewarding when you catch them. I’m about 20 min from Folsom and my fishing buddy and I hit it every once in a while. Many skunks, but there were a couple times we were able to have 30+ fish days between the two of us
Ive noticed some of the best days out there are the cold winter days! Great video!
@@thomaswillingmyrefishing cold dreary days produces good bags. Thanks man!

@@coachsimard8641 thanks! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve caught fish popping a snag out.
Thank you for sharing. Lots of good insight!

I’ll have to try that, I hate snags 🤘🏼
Went to Folsom for the NEWJen pro/am for the first time earlier this year ! Crazy how similar that place fishes lol!

Great video. I just wish Folsom would get back above 400. I've been fishing Oroville for a few months now. Kind of miss Folsom.
@@timallen08ify get out there! 🙂 Fishing is still good and very little boats on the lake.

At the beginning you mentioned Highland Reservoir, was that covered by the lake or just a nickname for a location?

No golden mussel issues there?
@@retflo2583 no issues at Folsom. But this lake sucks. No fish in here. 😂😂 j/k
@@chrisnelsonfishing I caught at least 3 10 inch bass there before...
If they would build Auburn Dam Folsom Lake could remain Full year round.
It would definitely change the water storage dynamic on the American River.
I live in Sac and never fished folsom. I'm intimidated by its stingy reputation. Man that water is low.
