I definitely like the talking without it you're just another guy making a table I could never afford and even though most people probably missed it. We wouldn't get obscure Ving rhames (having a very bad day) references.😮🫣😂🤣 And besides all that if you didn't talk, I wouldn't be able to plan a table for myself that I really couldn't afford to buy myself but could make with materials that most people would throw away.

Bloody hell. I love the chat, it's why I followed - and heres why: you were talking about the importance of an impact piece, and you're absolutely spot on. I decorated my front room a few years ago in all muted colours, which I had spent ages choosing, but the overall look was bland and impersonal. The additon of a very bright, multi coloured glass coffee table to the room transformed it and made it feel like home. That table cost £20 but made all the difference. So yes, listening to you commentary gave me a 'wow!' moment. Many thanks for verbalising an intuitive decision. ❤

The "Constant pseudo-intellectual chatter" is exactly why I like you more than the other woodworkers on RUclips. You provide the perfect amount of actual information regarding your work with the perfect amount of witty, high-brow humor to make it enjoyable with every video. Plus, your voice is soothing and inviting, making everything you say something to remember. On top of all of that, you also do incredible work. I've been watching your stuff for a long time now, and your designs just aren't replicated anywhere else. If you were to just play background music, I would indeed be sad, but I would still watch you make your art. Screw that buffoon that made the comment, they're just mad that they can't do this like you do. Keep up the good work Four Eyes, I will be anxiously awaiting your next PERFECT woodworking video.

The annoying "background" (usually foreground) music of some other channels has me running for the hills almost every time. To counter that, the content has to be really, really sexy, and not everyone has that.
I've heard it said that "people" (I think it applies to men, predominantly) settle on their preferred type of music and range of artists by the time they are 35, and are really not open to listening to "new stuff" after that - certainly not to _liking_ much more than a tiny, tiny proportion of anything new that comes out after their 35th birthday. All of which is by way of saying that no matter what genre or artist a RUclips channel chooses for their "background", it's simple mathematics to show that they are going to alienate a huge part of their intended audience 🤷🏻‍♂

But on the other hand, as you mentioned, finding the right music and the right level at which to play said music would be such a crapshoot to get correct for the masses. At the end of the day, you have to do what makes you happy and the 1.2MM people that subscribe to you because you have done it that way. Long time subscriber here and purchaser of some of your plans. It always irks me when titles like "scrap wood" or "worthless wood" are used to describe hundreds of dollars of beautiful wood that I would absolutely fight to get my hands on.

Yeah, clickbait thumbnail, and as he admitted this "trash" was worth $1000 to obtain... and now is supposedly going for $8500. Has he worked ~25 days on it or is it just the Rich Dude / RUclips factor?

I love hearing your thoughts, feelings and theories. I don’t watch videos where the people don’t talk. You add so much depth to your videos! And I have made videos, so I can tell that you put so much care and time into yours (unlike me)! I appreciate all of your dedication and efforts!

The storytelling-and the thoughtfulness that goes into crafting a story for each video-is part of the charm of your channel. It's a huge part of what makes you unique. Keep it (non-metaphorical). And that curmudgeon can KEEP IT (metaphorical).

you sell woodwork outside of youtube, here, content is sold, especially since woodworking isnt exactly starved for content. What you sell here with your footage is personality and knoledge... Two things that this world needs to appreciate more, keep it up, we wanna watch, listen, and hang out.

When I first started watching your videos, I will admit, there were times your chatter annoyed me…..but then I realised I was listening to the story you were telling as much as appreciating your obvious talent. I still wasn’t appreciating how good you are at telling that story until I stumbled across a very bad and obvious attempt to copy, not only your woodworking style, but your story telling manner! Now, I am totally, 100% a fan of both. At the end of the day, even if I wasn’t, it wouldn’t matter. There is only one version of us that we know how to be, so from my version of me to your version of you…..I appreciate you

I love listening to your thoughts and decision making as the video goes. I play your videos while I work on my own stuff and its a wonderful thing to hear your perspective. Please don't remove it all :0 its perfect background listening and its very inspiring. The thought of a channel that shows the work with just music only is very boring to me. Keep doing what you know works, you are the only person in the world who knows best about your channel. Also I love how for your shorts you keep it simple so we can come back to videos for more detail later, that was always intriguing to me. Love the work you do and would never change it if I could, its perfect to me 👍

I don't do woodworking. In my ADHD head, I believe that someday I should and that I could be good at it...but in reality, we know that will never happen. So, until that day happens (which would include buying a ton of stuff that I will use once and never again because I won't be good at it and it will sit around for years, never to be picked up again.) I will continue to watch your videos, full of wonderful, intelligent and snarky banter that I thoroughly enjoy, made by someone incredibly talented and who deserves all the sales from all the rich guys.
edited to add: You should totally have an apprentice - skills like these need to be taught to people who really want to learn by people who have a great knack for getting important and nuanced information across really well.

The voiceover is excellent. I love the ramblings and the thoughts that go into each project. I think it really opens the door for those that may get stuck inside their own head to realize that everyone has this monologue that may or may not stop them from creating and hearing your process while also watching your process may be exactly what someone needed.

I have to say, you are a great talker. Your pace is excellent, your content is strong, with some good humour, to boot. The content of your commentary really unpicks decisions, even poor ones. I'm a very fussy customer, who hates vocal fry, and rising intonation that begs you to agree with the comments - I think your voice overs are engaging, informative, and not always predictable. High five.
