I so enjoyed your review of the Da Vinci Winter Palette. I have incorporated several Da Vinci paints into my palette in the last few months. They are a pleasure to use, dry well in pans, and rewet beautifully. As a huge bonus if one lives in the United States, they are priced lower than other similar quality paints.
Thank you for the review and the lovely painting session. I live not far from where these paints are made and they are one of the most affordable professional brands here in the US. I hope that you can find a European distributor so they won’t be quite as expensive for you. I feel they are very good paints for me as a beginner because they are so pretty and reliable and I am not afraid to use them because I can easily get more.
I am back in the US now and have seen a bit about these paints, but I am not familiar. After this I will definitely have to try them out! Loving these curated sets!
Same here! I am looking forward using my fall palette…I was really impressed by this colours ❤️. Thank you Renea! I will look into the colours you recommend.
@@WatercolorElisabetta Denise's Gray is also wonderful, and a staple on my palette for cloudy skies. I think you would like the manganese blue and Joyce's mothers violet as well.
Michele, I always look forward to reading your messages ❤️. You are very encouraging and fun!! P.S. I am reading a delightful book, “The Jane Austen Book Club”, have you read it? It’s so entertaining! ❤️
@@WatercolorElisabetta No I have not! I just put it on my library hold and should pick it up soon, thanks! Oh, and I "might" have received the "Liquid Earths"🤫 xo PS Did you say which liquid charcoal color your preferred? I'll go back and rewatch.
I’m so glad you enjoyed these paints! DaVinci is my go-to brand. At first that was because it was the most affordable professional brand where I live, but now that I’ve tried other brands I come back to it by choice! It seems DaVinci gets overshadowed by Daniel Smith here in the US, which I think is unfair. I actually prefer DaVinci! DaVinci does also make a lovely cerulean blue genuine.
First of all, am a huge Schubert fan! One of the last presents I received from my mother was a CD of Schubert piano sonatas (a neglected part of his production). So not only we share the same taste in paint brands, but in music as well! I have more da Vinci to swatch in my drawer….for a future video. So happy about your message!
Da Vinci paints rate high on my list in quality, but it also helps that I live in the US. I think they would should run test sales out of Jackson's in London to pick up more business as many people want to try these. This winter palette would not have been my choice of colors, but you did them justice with that gorgeous winter landscape painting. 😍 Each watercolor brand has a few outstanding paints. Their Cerulean blue (PB36), Manganese Blue mix (PB33 & PB15), and Violet Iron Oxide stand out to me as instant favorites, but there are still many more from this brand. I hope you are all wintering well in Italy. We had several weeks of below zero temps, so Im ready for Spring to arrive. 🌷🌷🌷
Hello dear Tracy! I hear and take notice of your suggestions. I bought this set because I didn’t know where to start and I had to give simple instructions to my husband…but these colors work unexpectedly well together! I like to step out of my comfort zone 😱. I really wish Jackson’s stocked them! Thanks a lot for your message ❤️. Could you hear my dog barking in the background? 🐶❤️
@@WatercolorElisabettaThat PR179 is so deep and silky smooth, as are most of their paints. Some of the best things in life are unexpected, and it's good to expand our boundaries. 🤣 Grazi to your husband for choosing so well. I heard one of your dogs saying hello to all of us.🥰 That is the sound of a happy home. 😊 Please give them a few hugs from me. Thioindigo Violet, Joyce's Mothers Violet & Green, Seaglass, Terra Cotta, and Red Rose Deep are my favorites. All of their paints perform admirably, and I wish they were more widely available. Alas, everyone's palette preference is unique. I haven't met a brand yet that fulfills all my watercolor interests, but this brand is truly professional quality.
@TracyIndy yes, you heard well ❤️❤️ my dogs were super excited because my son was just entering the door. I will check out the colours you suggest. Online window shopping is a great hobby! Take care my friend ❤️
I was puzzled too! But once I used them I realised why there are there, along with darker, more muted colors! They are perfect primary colours, on the cool side!
I got my first Da Vinci paints for Christmas last year. They are fantastic paints, and I am looking to purchase more when I go to the United States again. I am tempted to get these colors specifically!
Me too re new supplies! Your sketch is beautiful. You have captured so well the low winter sun through the trees- and watching you paint looks so effortless (I know it is not because I have tried to capture this several times throughout the winter! ). 🙂
lovely paints and sketch. I wish we have access to their paints in Europe sometime. [I also bought only once and with customs it ran expensive.] My favourite thing about these paints is how they dry so silky smooth in pans and palettes. I would recommend getting their dot card if you plan to buy again from the US, at least you can get a feel of the colours before investing. Thanks for sharing with us!
Cara Elizabetta, your husband sounds like a veritable tesoro 🩷 I purchased my first, and only, Da Vinci watercolour palette a few years ago and I have to admit, I have not used the paints very much. It is a 24-pan set curated by Denise Soden and because she is a wildlife artist the colours are geared towards earthy tones and greens but also has beautiful reds. You have now inspired me to take it out and play with it. I loved your winter landscape! And as always, I love all the interesting things I learn from you. Grazie mille ❤️
Dear Didi (I hope it’s your name), what a lovely heartwarming message! Yes my husband is a Tesoro ❤️; not every single moment of his life but the large majority! It was a great present. Grazie a te for your very kind message. Painting is wonderful and you get in teach with a wonderful community around the world ❤️❤️🫶 take care!!
That’s such an inky Payne’s Grey and really rich looking Perylene Maroon. I love these along with Sepia for a really limited muted palette. I can’t wait to see you swatch‘Autumn.’
Thank you so much!! It was a quick sketch but the colours are so good that yes, it came out pretty 🤗. I like to test my paint “on the road”….you made my day! Thank you!
Davinci watercolor paints are quite intense and pigmented especially their ultramarine violet(pv15) and viridian green(pg18). They also have beautiful alizarin crimson(pv19 instead of fugitive pr83), nice quinacridone fuchsia(pr202), rich cobalt blue(pb28) and lovely terracotta(pr102, similar to light red in Winsor & Newton).
Thank you my friend!! This would be great paint , if only it wasn’t so difficult to find in Europe…the price was very fair, but the duties… 😨. Too bad!! I need to plan a trip to the US! 🇺🇸

Hi Berolina! Watch out because sometimes there are promotions on international shipping, for example before Christmas. I paid very little for shipping but customs was expensive! So I think you can just watch out for one of these promotions….if ever I will travel to the US I will stock up Da Vinci!! It’s really beautiful paint. ❤️ Thank you so much for your comment.

I do not like sheen on my Watercolors either. Hence why I don't use Holbein. To me they are okay diluted but very plastic looking in heavier applications.
Plastic looking is a strong statement! Exactly the opposite of how watercolour should be. I must try a sketch to verify this. Now that you told me so, I’m afraid you instilled the doubt in me!! Thank you for taking the time to comment.
