Vikings were a rare breed that were brought up with tales of the worlds doom. These sagas comes from an earlier time in history, around the year of 500. During this time Scandinavia were suffering from extreme cold, so cold that scientists have found fibers from trees that were frostbitten (im not sure about the spelling, but the fibers had exploded from water being frozen in the middle of the summer). So the Viking ancestors had it rough and a big part of the population actually died. So no wonder the vikings were a hard breed. They really believed in their gods, and I can see why.

"Viking age" is what people call the era of when the vikings raided england and france, but they were "vikings" a long time before that too. They raided the baltics a lot before england and the fact that fewer people started to own land and that scandinavia became christian was the main reason why raids stopped, not so much that the english started to get larger armies and defence systems. Keep in mind that the vikings raided english lands that had armies already and defence systems, also paris which was seen as a fort almost impossible to break through, however they managed to anyway. So the biggest reason why the raids stopped is because people didnt own theyr own land and that the vikings became Christians like mentioned in the video.

They (Vikings) had many gods and goddesses from simple nature spirits to heroic figures. Odin, Thor and Frey were the major deities, who dwelled in Asgard - the inner world of an elaborate universe. Vikings believed they travelled to other worlds in the afterlife.

You made a mistake towards the end. Harald Hardrada did not die in conflict at the battle of Stanford Bridge. The vikings won the battle of Stanford Bridge and set up in York, it was here that the English army attacked them when they’re ere unprepared as they had left their heavy armour and weapons in boats 10 miles away (they did this as they had a mutual belief on the honour of combat and were expecting to be given time to prepare before combat, however Harold Godwinson instructed the English army to attack them killing Harald Hardrada and his men by overpowering them.
