Alex hi. Thanks for catching this one. Nice to see UA's 777 let alone two on the tarmac at the same time. Issue has to be a biggie cus UA normally depends on AC's Maintenance Group for repairs and they are highly respected. Hope the lay over UA passengers were treated right for their short stay here.
Those are some old 777's. I flew on some of the older 777's from united with the PW 4090 engines. They have a very particular "drop spool" sound when they go full throttle. Too bad that small prop plane passed by just when it was ready for takeoff. Cool to see that N226UA is still in service. I flew it in 2022 from Buenos Aires to Houston.
The stranded one is N788UA - back in the day when United had a separate international first class, that was my ride from Tokyo to Chicago. Seat 1A. It's a nice plane but definitely getting very old. Can't believe these 777s are pushing 30 years old - I remember when they were brand new!
For the younger set this would be a sight. Imagine CP air 747's, Dc10's,AC L1011's and Wardair 747's on the ramp. They all have been in CGY and I've flown on them. Great catch Alex.
These are getting rare. Did fly old ANA -200 domestically in 2019 from Narita to Osaka. Had Pratts on it and then they grounded that engine shortly there after due to fan issues. They don’t seem that old.
That walk from the AC domestic gates to the UA trans border gates is SO long and vice versa. . I have made connections in YYC many times and even taking the little train thing doesn't speed it up.
Flew on one of these out of Denver recently to Hawaii, was a pleasant flight and overall great experience flying with United was worlds better then WestJet or AC
I was following this event on FR24. I believe N788UA finally went back to SFO on Friday evening (Oct 4) and took it's next passenger flight the next afternoon as UAL 44 to Zurich. I was wondering what happened to the passengers in Calgary while they had to wait for the backup plane. Did they clear customs in Calgary, or did they keep them quarantined somewhere? United has many older 772's of this vintage and it makes me wonder if they will start to have reliability issues due to the age.
i flew on a nice economy United 777 to hawaii in the summer. I also flew on possibly the worst economy flight of my life returning on a different United 777 back from hawaii.
@@Cool_Cat09 No IFE, food service that I wouldn't even serve to the homeless, not enough power outlets for the row, couldn't fit my underseat luggage due to design of the seat legs/mounting - only in my aisle seat, the other seats beside me were okay. Took an AC A220 on the last leg home, it was like being sent to heaven after that United flight.
Cool video...still sad that Airports like Edmonton / Calgary never get the BIG BOYS landing anymore. I remember when AC would be lined up here in Edmonton ..L-1011 , 747 , DC-9 , DC-8 then there was CP AIR with their DC-10and 747 ...plus good ole WARDAIR .. ahhhh how things have changed
Last year I flew from Toronto to Calgary with the B77W -ak the big boy. On Jan next year Air Cañada will be flying some days from LHR to YYC with the big boy as well. KLM flies with the B77W to Calgary every now and then.
It's weird that 777-200ERs are called "Classics" when it has the ER in its name. You're lucky to see one of those in general but you're even luckier to see it in Calgary.
Im more familiar with the 777-300ER operated by Emirates i think classic is because the 777-200 777-200ER 777-200LR were the initial 3 Varaints of ths plane
@@Davyjones777ytKinda, I don't know about the -200ER but there are 19 777-200's in service according to google. I also flew on it going to San Francisco from Hawaii.

Dang I hate when that happens Alex
Oh… so that explains the lack of uploads?
Why did i laugh so hard
Who is this? Alex wouldn't refer to himself in the 3rd person like Elmo....
Could there be a Mrs Alex?
The rescue aircraft was the same UA 777 that lost a main wheel on departure from SFO back in March.
Bro 😭
Well that bird is almost 30 years old...
No comments on that buttery landing. That was smooth. Thanks for another great post!
2 United 777's in Calgary is definitely a sight to see!
Glad you posted! Great catch with the hometown skyline and the Rocks behind. Thanks
yayyy Alex posted. welcome back!
nice one Alex great capture of landing and takeoff

The one time I flew a 777 was...*checks notes*... 26 years ago?!?!? Washington-Dulles to Frankfurt. Unbelievable...
Guess what? United wants to keep them in service for another 10 ish years!
HE'S BACK
HE FINALLY POSTED 🙏
Hi Alex! I’m happy for you that you saw this sighting! I love your videos! 🫶🏻
YYC-SFO, found on Flight Radar 24 yesterday as well. Nice catch, Alex!
I always enjoy your videos ... thx so much
That new United livery looks smooth on the 777

Awesome 👏
I flew on N226UA back from ICN a few weeks ago, didn't expect to see it on your channel in YYC lol
Woah, great captures! Pretty interesting to see such rare planes here

Grate capture.

Nice video Alex! 🔥🔥🔥
LHR to SFO with a CGY stopover :-) Not a bad itinerary.
I'm reading that the FAA are currently investigating United Maintenance at the moment due to all the recent (and very public) incidents.

I was so happy to see one of them fly above my school!
That first landing was butter, great pilot. How's the ATPL going?
Sort of related but a few days ago I saw an Air Canada A320 here at MSP for some reason
Always nicely done video. I was wondering why a United triple was parked at the east parking stands as I was taxiing out the other day.

Flying a United 777-200 next week. Fingers crossed it’s not the one laid up in Calgary.
Oh damn! I thought you retired 😂 great video as always!
So this is what that aircraft I can see from the SAIT Aero center is that's been sitting there for weeks
OMG ALEX, please review the aa flagship suites when they come out.
I saw it parked there earlier . I work at Hudson News 👍
I live in Calgary near the airport. I saw one of these land when I was on the way home from work. I was wondering about it
Always wondered how anyone manages to get the ATC audio or even flight information.
They provide a one of a kind service.
I use 2 apps when plane spotting: FlightRadar24 and LiveATC.
I saw this guy on approach driving on Deerfoot and said “Interesting…..”
Ther as a 777 flight from Calgary to Denver today
nice

I live in calgary where do you spot?
I went to PHX on Tuesday and noticed the disabled 777 parked there. I didn’t think he looked right.

why was it the worst?

Not exactly true. The IFE was turned off to isolate electrical systems during troubleshooting
