The fact that a lot of the small residential houses look identical is fine. During the 1950s Suburban boom in America, almost all houses constructed in suburban areas looked identical. Given that this expansion to the city can be seen as a bit of a suburban boom, it's rather realistic for many of the houses to look identical

suggestion: grove crest is a walk thru park or animal sanctuary. Many midwest american towns with 1950's/60's poluted industial parks were just turned into normal parks until polution was low enough for residental development years later near the park. The trees and plants helped absorb the polution over time.
just a suggestion from a person who lives near the old chysler plant south of STL thats now a Elk Park with a huge bird habitat. ($10 a vehicle to enter and drive thru the whole park and see the wildlife)

They just added some new parks to the game in a free update - I have to see if any of them will work but this is a great idea!

There is no way to get rid of land pollution. It has to go away on its own, but it takes a very long time for it to go away

I covered a former industrial area with trees and I swear the pollution seemed to reduce faster.

I wouldn't be surprised if it did, next time we move an industrial area, I am going to try it out.
