I have to say since I have cut out processed food about two month ago and only been eating whole food and good quality bread (expensive stuff from artisan bakery) I have lost a lot of fat!! I couldn’t believe it but it really works! And that’s with the gym membership on freeze, I’ve just change my job from desk job to one where I’m on my feet, been doing household shores like cleaning and ironing, and going for walks for an hour when I have time. I am 100% behind eating healthy and just having an active life style instead of sedentary to be of healthy weight. Everything what you say in the podcast is true and works! I have no sugar cravings anymore I am so surprised because I have always been known as someone with a sweet tooth! I feel like my whole life has been turned round and it’s a sustainable life style. We are not well off but we spend majority of our budget on good food instead of going out and clothes etc.
Lots of things said here are counter to what I have been hearing the last couple of years regarding the role of cholesterol and the effect of carbohydrates on liver function. So many doctors and researchers online saying opposite things on this. One common thread though, is to eliminate processed foods.
Watching this and I can now understand why heart disease will continue cholesterol model , healthy food not processed I agree, I can not agree with anything that raises blood glucose level, but occasional food that does is maybe ok for me
Unfortunately I am allergic to all nuts and lots of the seeds and because I am allergic to peanuts I have been advised to avoid legumes! I tend to eat lots of broccoli and cauliflowers and have runner beans. I also eat rye bread! Is it ok to eat to eat gluten free Nairn porridge oats!
Oats are very healthy, as long as you are not allergic to them. Very good for lowering cholesterol. Decent source of protein. Do branch out to things like sweet potato and other root vegetables. You may need to consult a plant based dietician, because your list of food restrictions is pretty long. They may help you find a way to get a balanced diet and restrict as little as necessary.
@@k.h.6991oats are not very healthy, healthier than junk food yes, massive insulin spikes, phytic acid and full of glyphosate, if u must have oats then organic gluten free oats steel cut
Informative, however the topic of foods to clean out arteries wasn't addressed. Or maybe I'm missing something? Reducing cholesterol is one thing, but does that clean out plaque in arteries? This video doesn't address this question. I also would have liked to hear more about the role of saturated fat in heart disease.
glucose and inflammation and leaky guts would damage the arteries and hdl would repair it if given enough time . that why fasting so important . and the ratios also give u a truer picture. triglyceride over hdl . ldl over hdl . etc.
Babies when they breast feed have high cholesterol around in the high 100s. Should we start giving babies statins or Oreos. Yes Oreos lower cholesterol check the study on the web.

Congratulations! I’m happy for you and I guess that you also feel better next to the fat loss ?
This is fantastically, clear explanation of how cholesterol leaves the body. Does oat bran count as a whole grain? Oats raise my blood sugar to 300’s.
Excellent video, especially your explanations of the relevant mechanisms. Better still, these are among my favourite foods!
The Doctor's Kitchen, Subscribed because your videos always make me smile!
I truly appreciate you and your information.
What about the amount of oxalates in some of this whole foods which seem to be affecting a lot of people on a plant based diet?

My dad has diverticulitis and was told not to eat nuts and seeds- so are butters better than nothing?
Any little seeds can get stuck in the little dimples of the colon causing painful backups and clogs

Yes, if you can lower your LDL enough, you can reduce plaque (at least the stuff that isn't calcified).

Just came across your channel
Does wild rice & red rice have arsenic?
Basically the Mediterranean diet.
Question? So cholesterol is basically fat. The brain needs fat to function properly, so why are we trying to lower it? Or am I missing something?
I thought grains were terrible for the arteries? Even whole grains?

Filtered or unfiltered coffee???
Filtered of course = less carcinogenic
Folic acid is added to food. Folate is found naturally in food.
There you go!!! Cholesterol bad… Long live Ancel Keys…. Plant based food good….. long live drug behemoths…. Claps for doctors like you.
love your podcasts, but in this one the sound and movement of your mouth are not in sinc. kind of distracting.
Dietary cholesterol doesnt elevate serum cholesterol and you need that cholesterol your brain needs a lot
