- We finally made it to CHENGDU! We were here mainly to set up our business so we didn't do much apart from admin but we still had a great time so we thought we would share our first impressions of the city!
We are gutted we won't be moving here any more but hopefully we can make some more Chengdu videos in the future.

You two are really a perfect partners. It sounds like listening to a talk show
Rolling with the punches is part of life, Chengdu isn't going anywhere, thank you for the videos!
Chandu is a cool city. I traveled there 4 years ago. I love it so much. Young and energetic city, foods, panda, and Avatar mountain and so many things.
I believe the Avatar mountain is in Zhangjiajie, Hunan Province.
I'm glad you both enjoyed Chengdu. I'm another Brit and i've lived here over a decade. Love this city, it has a lot to offer and if you do spend some time here, the surrounding countryside has even more to experience. From ancient lost civilizations, to dinosaur fossils and base jumping. EDIT: got to the end, sorry you won't be spending more time here guys.
You are there now?? Please tell us what the hell is going on with the flu. Did it not find the way to Chengdu really?? China quit reporting in 2022. Are things at all normal? Have the rivers gone dry too? Yesterday I was looking at Google view. It looked recent with very low water and huge piles of plastic.
And yes I otherwise know all about Chengdu. I was loving it there in 2006, 2009 and 2015 for a total 15 weeks, from western Canada. So I rode my bikes all over and some to the outer areas. My stay was in the RR 2/ ZiJing area. The last trip I rode 3/4 of the way from Saigon actually.
Austin in China made a big mistake going to Hangzhou, IMO. He never vlogs anymore. The whole world has gone to LEFTY hell... RIP.
There is an old Chinese saying, you must not settle down in Sichuan at a young age, because the life here is so easy and fun that young people would give up hard-working. Your first impression seems to confirm that saying. By the way, the edit of first impression part is so stunning that I almost thought it's an official promotion video for Chengdu. Great job, Jack! I know it's so painful to edit this video when you're not able to move to Chengdu very soon. Very appreciate your nice work and wish all the good things would happen soon.
少不入川,老不出蜀...yeah i've heard this before.
Love the shout out to the French Concession in Shanghai (that’s where I live!) I’m sure I’ll love Chengdu too when I eventually get time to visit one day! 💕
Chengdu is really a quite comfortable city to spend your leisure time and I plan to move to there in the future for rest of my life.
Same here. Hopefully the covid nonsense goes away so we can get into China.
What a nice introduction to Chengdu! Another amazing video and once again you guys pulled it off! 😊👏👏👏 Thanks for giving us a glimpse of Chengdu and looking forward to other parts of this video! 😊 I am curious on the 'Marriage Market' part looking forward to this topic. 🤔 Thanks and keep safe, Nico and Jack! 😊
I really want to go to Chengdu! My husband studied his Bachelor and Master degree there and loved it! Definitely a place we would love to live a couple of years in.
Chengdu is on my list to visit for a long time already.
Love you guys. Pls keep up the wonderful work and the positive spirit!
I’m so glad you’re still in China and haven’t actually left.
That's just the city ...
Where else can you explore...
Panda interactions
Horse and Tea trail
Jiuzhaigou
Siguniang
Yading/ Shangrila
Kangding
Mountains... Emei, Mending and many more
Si Ren Tong
and the new Niubei mountain with river of clouds
Great video. The shots are super, look like professional!
Travelling and street food - can't beat it. And great video editing!
Very well make guys! Keep up with the effort Jack and Nico!
love the way you all describe the food and the videos, can't wait to make a trip there sometime towards end of the year.
man DO LOVE your video editing!
good luck in your endeavours!
You guys are such good content creators! Very professional and well done.👍We are cheering 📣 you on and rooting for things to work out either in Cheng Du, Beijing or wherever you want to be in China.♥️
Great video!
When I first visited Chendu, I was sort of lost at first lol.
Damn I miss China.
just love to see you two smile, having fun, be happy!!!
Welcome to Chengdu! As a Sichuan native who recently got back from abroad, I feels so nice to come across you guys in Chengdu showing such experience
Ahh i feel for you guys so much :( I'm sure the Chegndu dream will happen for you. Everything at the right time and place, keep manifesting that move and it WILL come true. Love your content sm!
i walked in wudaoying hutong yesterday .so fun .thank u for telling me how fun it is
Nice filming and editing!
The intro is super cool, love it
best wishes in your new adventure, hope your business will be a reality and prosperous. love from canada.
I can live 3-4 years each in Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Qingdao, Suzhou, Hangzhou, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Chongqing, Chengdu, Xian, and also Wuhan, Changsha, etc.
the food looked yummy yummy yummy
Haha that is called Cold Pot Chuan Chuan. Or in Chinese “冷锅串串”. Glad you guys love my hometown! Cheers🍻
loved your videos and poem and especially your love letter to Beijing. Nico and your man, I hope you keep up with your wonderful works and some day your dream would come true. No a single river run straight to its destine
“Chuan chuan” literally means skewers. Sorry that you didn’t like Sichuan Pepper. Like you said, there are definitely dishes that uses it in the right amount. Hope you find the ones you like!
Sichuan pepper is an acquired taste.
Great video of my hometown!
This was beautifully shot and edited. Your video skills have really improved a lot. Chengdu is already stellar, but you managed to make it look mesmerising.
YOU GUYS WILL MAKE IT !!! Chengdu
Don't give up guys!! I hope you guys can still make it....
Nice video!
This intro deserves Oscar
I hope you guys make it there eventually!
Another beautiful video produced by Nico. I thought you both have left China but great to learn that you are at Chengdu. Parks in China are all wonderfully designed and equipped. One can spend all day in there and don’t get bored i guess
Thanks!
Thank you so much!
Nice video, I'm looking forward to some more Chengdu content. You are right that sometimes the balance between the numbing of Sichuan peppercorn, spicy and other flavours can be a bit skewed. Several of my Chinese colleagues have told me that Sichuan style cooking is one of the most difficult ones to master, so it really takes a good chef to deliver the perfect combination. Now, I love both spicy from peppers and the numbing effect from Sichuan peppercorn, but the first time I tried malatang it was a bit of a surprise.
I loved the intro. My wish for you to be able to continue doing these documentary style content videos. I pray something else will come up and you will be able to again renew your visa. I just saw your last video where you two shared you got your visa extended for another few months. I pray something will happen and you will be able to further extend your stay. I think your time in China is not yet done and you have a bright future to continue creating videos.
Looks good, enjoy💗
The intro was far out! Loved it!
I'm from Chengdu I'm studying in the USA and feeling homesick so much.
Thx for the sharing
Like before watch!
Amazing intro!
Ugh, I missed China, it’s only been 2 years since my last visit… I want to go back 😫
guys, I'm from Chongqing (i'm sure you know where it is) and for me the biggest charm of Chengdu city is its easy access to multiple best tourism spots in China. for example, just a few hours' drive from downtown Chengdu to the west, you can go to the Dagu Glacier, an actual freaking glacier in the mountains, and this is just one of the many magnificent nature wonders Sichuan Province can provide to you. If I am to live in Chengdu I will make marks on map and visit those beautiful places one for each week or month.
Heard chongqing used to be part of sichuan, also abit north from sichuan is Xi an, which is where the terracotta army resides..
@@lyhthegreat yes the north west part of China is full of wonders
great video
Perfect classy.... Nico & Jack at their best
it is chuan chuan for real, the owner cooked your skewers in a pot then keep in a cold soup pot with chili oil and sesame, "串串“ is a character that easy to recognize
I was watching your videos before going to china to make sure i was ready for the trip. And now i sit here watching this video of Chengdu that brings up so many great memories. Thanks a lot :)
By the way, those thick noodles are unreal
I absolutely loved Chengdu when I was there in 2006, so chilled out and amazing food. Loved the teahouse culture too.
I spent time in chengdu in 2017, visited the panda research and did the famous jinlilu ❤️
Thank you for you guys love chengdu❤
Loving the way the videos are progressing. It is definitely heartbreaking that you two cannot move to Cheng Du at present, but never say never for the future. Best of luck to the both of you.
your vedio is totally underrated, very professional, but i dont know why not so many followers.
i see, it is more like documentary ,not vlog.
Chengdu. Is love and love is in Chengdu....
beautiful food and beautiful city
'I love this place! I will move here!'
every travellers repeatedly failing mantra lol 😃
Don't forget Chengdu is the city very close to Tibet area...only 3-4 hour of drive, you can enjoy snow mountains, lakes, yarks..
chengdu is a fantastic city, hope to have a trip there
It’s an variation of Chuan chuan, it’s called “冷锅串串”,cold pot chuan chuan. Because they would bring out in a slightly pot of colder soup, instead of boiling hot pot. It’s especially popular in summer
Welcome to Chengdu, hope you guys enjoy the food and culture.
like your shirt. Autobahn is my favorite song from kraftwerk. They are touring in the US.
What an into indeed!
Love you guys
Top quality video....
Glad you liked it
I'll be moving to ChengDu this August. Thanks for making this video. I think I can better understand the place which I'll be calling home for the next 4 years.
Hope you can finally come to Chengdu. I really love this city, as a Hainaner, I bought a apartment here and marry a Chengdu wife. I think that's the biggest compliment for a city as a Chinese lol.🥰
The peoples park is lovely. There was a guy doing karaoke. Also someone playing a musical saw ..it was very interesting .
People's park was one of our favourite places there!
Very very nice intro
congratulations! seems your moving to chengdu and opening your own company are already approved. if not, it's worth to try again. :D
You’re going to love quarantine !
Actually your first few videos about Chengdu are so impressive that I started telling people if I move to China I would like to try living in Chengdu...!!! :)
ChengDu aims becoming a modern green garden city. I love the blend the old and the new equilibrium without too many insane ultra tall concrete glass jungle.
Chengdu was fantastic when I was there in 2017, took the ultra comfortable high speed train to Chongqing. Hotpot was yummie!
我听不懂,但我大受震撼
Finally you guys are here where I am living. Chengdu now is famous for its greeness and is advertised as City Park because over the years the government has made huge efforts to build new parks and connect parks. Rumor has it that Chengdu has the most parks throughout China. They say there is a park within walking distance wherever you are. I am not sure about that but over the years I’ve witnessed how green the city has become! Take qinglong lake, probably the biggest one within the fourth ring road, which is connected by 100km Tianfu Greenway with hundreds of parks joined together.( I am probably exaggerating here because I didn’t research the specific numbers). But you know the gist. So highly recommend tianfu greenway and qinglong lake. Have fun in Chengdu🐼🎋🫖🍵🍀🍜💃
I was there 3 times and liked it very much. So tell us what's going on there now with the pandemic and drought. Was Chengdu spared the terrible lockdowns??
@@GordoGambler The drought was over yesterday with major parts of sichuan experiencing rain and temperature drop. The reginal lockdowns have just made a comeback, however. I gotta say it's just as the old saying goes, " Misfortunes never come singly." Work on and off, but life still goes on. Nothing to complain
Amazing chengdu
amazing city
i cant wait to revisit Chengdu when it is open, so lovely city
We really enjoyed it!
You guys must be good at essays, no wonder why always have such a lot beautiful descriptions and sentences. Maybe you should write books about your travels. I will definitely buy them!
Awww thanks so much. We really put a lot of time and effort into our scripts. We hope to write a book one day but who knows when we’ll have the time haha
很棒很棒的视频,解说非常的生动,而且拍摄手法非常吸引人 很好👍
Chengdu is the city for retirement, very relax life
I would agree hole hearty chengdu is wondering city and people, I live there for 3yrs, and really miss it, it city you can full in love with
Beutiful, I want to go back to Cheng Du again!!!
amazing content
sorry about the bad news
Thanks a lot!
I love that there is no special filter applied.
great
I am sure the tourism department of every city's government is welcoming you guys from bottom of heart.
I think it’s called Chuan Chuan, you were right! We loved chuan chuan in Chengdu!
welcome
I thought both of you moved outside of China hahaha. Chengdu is my favorite city in China and I lived there for 2.8 years, before moving to Shanghai. And after being in Shanghai for almost 4 years now, Chengdu is still in my heart. I would definitely come to visit Chengdu again before I for good back to my home country. 成都是一个城市你会一直想念的,一次你去,会一直想住在那边 ❤ .
Nice I’m going there soon
Awesome city!
HOW???
歪果仁里,你们的剪辑真的是最棒的!
The Chinese government has oledi announced laz year they are making Chengdu as China's 2nd Silicon Valley after Shenzhen. There should be many job and business opportunities there.
