    Ain't no way Miu Miu is charging $1500 for something I can make with yarn scraps during a college lecture

    • @ErikaLaGrande
      @ErikaLaGrande Год назад +12

      I saw a breakdown of the costs on a website that was selling the hat. Miu Miu’s cost is $35 for materials and $35 for labor. If you look inside the hat, all the ends are hanging out, even in the brim. You can see ends popping out when the model is wearing it. It’s shameful! I’ve owned Miu Miu shoes and clothing in the past. They were well made and much less expensive because I bought them in Italy. This hat costs about 40% less in Europe.

    • @hatchling88
      @hatchling88 Год назад +4

      @@ErikaLaGrande I wonder how many hats they actually sold for that outrageous price? Not many, I'd think. And only $35 for labor? It would have taken some skilled worker at least several hours to make it. I'd crochet the ends in as I worked... an easy time saver and not so tedious as weaving them in and sure looks nicer than leaving ends hanging out!

    Is it at every round that you do the increase? First row you increase one and every row as you go keep on increasing?
    Row 2 you increase 2 and so on.
    Please ?? I want to make it because I love it!! Thanks

    • @emilyfrances._

      Hi! So each row you add a normal stitch before the increase. row 1: 1single crochet 1 increase. Row2: 2 single crochet 1 increase. Row3: 3 single crochet 1 increase. And so on, hope that makes sense!

  • @hatchling88
    @hatchling88 Год назад +1

    I wonder why you didn't crochet over all those loose ends, burying them as you worked the rounds? It would sure save on dealing with them later. Given its a multicolor hat, who cares if there's a little color showing through? Well, that's what I'll do when I make it... I love making my crochet life easier when I can. Weaving in ends is too tedious! Still, thanks for the vid and inspiration. I love your idea of using embroidery floss with the white yarn for a marled effect.

    • @emilyfrances._

      I found when carrying on this hat that I could always see the other colors I was carrying and I don’t love that so I took the time to weave in on this one to be pickier about where the tails would blend best

    Hi, this is lovely, and it also amazed me how much it could cost otherwise, why would anyone agree to that!??!
    I've almost finished making this for my sister and added in a strip of mini granny squares just before the brim, just to change it up a bit and make it even more fun!
    I just wanted to ask, what is the reason for why it needs to end on an increase round when doing the brim? Hoping you can get back and let me know, thanks! :)

    • @emilyfrances._
      @emilyfrances._  3 месяца назад

      Hi! If you don’t increase it won’t keep growing out flat like a brim does, it will form downwards like the hat because all the stitches will stack uniformly row by row!! Hope that makes sense
      I think it will be very different with the brim your planning, if you’re on instagram id love to see the finished product! emilyfrances._

    • @alwayslearning9272
      @alwayslearning9272 3 месяца назад

      Thanks so much for your reply! I think there may have been some misunderstanding with what I said however, as what I was hoping to find out was why the last row of the brim needs to end on an increase round?
      Also, I made a separate small granny square strip to add onto the main part of the hat so didn't do as much of the length after the crown part, sewed that on and then worked the brim off the base of that, if that makes sense?
      So the granny square strip is in the main part of the hat still, it's not to replace the brim.
      I'd love to show you the end result but am not on Instagram sorry, but if you can let me know about the order of the brim rounds and why the last one should be an increase round I'd be really grateful, thanks! 😊
