      Yes, Michelle.....I said a bit more than WOW when I saw that Jadiete. That old woman received it in the 30's when she was starting her family and at some time in the 50's it was packed away until I bought it. I love it!

    More beautiful stuff!!! WOWZERS!! My parents were married in 1947. I have so many things from her wedding and engagement showers..LOL I have so many linens and dish towels, and some crazy square set of china (even the coffee cups are square! ) I have an orange juice squeezer with an aluminum collection cup and a pull down handle that I use quite frequently. I have my Grandmas Franciscan Apple china ( made in California -set of 12 - includes all kinds of special dishes (pit dishes, handpainted glass sherbert dishes and water goblets) , that are not made in the reproductions . I actually USE all my inherited things. I enjoy them quite often and it sure shocks my guests when I use "the good stuff"..LOL

    More great stuff! I've sold Johnson Brothers before and luckily I had a good pattern that sold really well. They were combination of round and square plates, JB must have liked doing that. I got mine at an auction in a box lot for $10 and sold those in different lots for probably about $200 as there was also a lidded vegetable bowl that went for almost $100 on it's own. I still have some pieces left including some cups, no saucers came with them. I hope you had a great birthday yesterday! Hopefully you did something fun like thrifting on your day. We are 6 days apart, I'm older than you. :? Always enjoy and look forward to your videos.

    GASP!! 15.00 USD and 10.00 USD? How is that even possible. Both the dish sets are fabulous. The furniture coasters help protect rugs and vinyl floor but also protect the bottom of the legs from water use to clean or that is accidently spilled. I used the plain clear glass one to protect the legs on my whicker furniture in the sun/garden room area. Gosh those dishes are fabulous.

    • @oldcuriosityshop265

    I was referred to you through the forums on Scavenger Life. I'm happy to find you and can't wait to marathon watch your videos. I'm cleaning out 5 generations of stuff and ran across some glasses that had a handwritten note from Aunt Mary that they were purchased in 1919. I've not yet been able to match any sort of maker or pattern to what I have, but they have a unique Star of David within a Star of David on the bottom, and a SOD within a flower on the sides. I have the photos listed on eBay which can be found searching: 1919 Star of David Juice Tumbler Depression Glass. I would love to know if you think these are common, or rare, or whatever you may or may not think about them.

    • @oldcuriosityshop265
      @oldcuriosityshop265  6 лет назад

      Hello and welcome! Glad you came my way. Honestly, in my opinion your glass tumblers have nominal value. They were part of a "water set" which usually included a matching water pitcher. Thousands and thousands were made in various pressed glass patters from the 1890 to the 1920's when colored glass took over in fashion. Most folks today don't really appreciate the many lovely patterns of American Pressed Glass, as it is called. Unfortunately, though it is lovely, it's not a very hot item in the collecting word right now. So....keep it and enjoy it or let it go for what you can get. It's a very pretty set.

    Hi Scott, can I ask you a question about Anchor/ Fire King stuff? I have some stackable mugs that say Anchor Hocking oven safe that do NOT say Fire King. However every example I see of them online say Fire King. Do you have any clue why this is? Is Anchor Hocking oven safe mugs Fire King anyway even though they don't say it? Thanks for your opinion.

    • @oldcuriosityshop265
      @oldcuriosityshop265  6 лет назад +1

      At some point....I'm not sure what year...Anchor Hocking stopped marking "Fire King" on the under sides of their glass and just called it "oven safe". Your mugs might have been made right at the time that they were getting rid of the embossed "Fire King" and in place stamping "oven safe". Anchor Hocking was not always very consistent in their branding. For example, I've seen many examples of Jadeite in the Jane Ray pattern and some of it is embossed "Fire King" on the back and some of it is totally blank! Because it was inexpensive mass produced utilitarian glass....there wasn't much quality control. I hope this helps.

    • @oldcuriosityshop265
      @oldcuriosityshop265  6 лет назад

      Well Gypsie, I've been selling on Ebay for 19 years and I've been into the antiques and collectibles market since I was in high school. So I've had about 35 years to learn the "business". But for me....it's more of a love than a business. And it's interesting because the market has changed and new and trendy things are always fun to discover.

    • @gygi2109
      @gygi2109 6 лет назад

      I have been selling antiques since the 80’s too (mostly deco furniture) but took a 15 yr break...long story short...retired from real job in 2009 cuz of chronic illness got bored fast....all gas and no breaks type so started designing jewelry and reselling smalls in 2010. Moved states twice and now in midwest...4 booths and 4 to 6 shows a month...even was hosting a monthly vintage market for awhile...oh yea...I have a chronic illness...crash...stopped shows, down to one booth (oddities) and looking for the next adventure ( I can actually handle) so power watch youtube videos on alternate ways of selling...love about 6 channels...you of course and others...just love the stories, personalities and independent spirits!

    • @oldcuriosityshop265
      @oldcuriosityshop265  6 лет назад

      Thank you Gypsie. I'm certainly no professional but I do enjoy sharing. WOW 4 to 6 shows a month? That's quite a schedule. How did you manage to stock 4 booths?

    • @gygi2109
      @gygi2109 6 лет назад

      I stocked 4 booths and shows by working 7 days a week, 60+ hrs (I say I ‘m retired😜) always sourcing, had others sourcing for me, had an assistant that did nothing but cleaning and pricing...buy in collections, buy in bundles...I am very passionate about this business but just need a simplier life

I like to price things on the lower side because I enjoy being able to constantly add new items to my shop. Thanks for watching.
