There's several things that's been updated with Wix since this too - there's 24/7 live chat support from your site to Wix - There's also been great updates to multilingual stores, and their location auto detection for multilingual checkout for costumers. You can build it in HTML and CSS - and they have over 200 templates. Wix also have more payment options and allows multiple currencies as well - HOWEVER there's a lot of faffing around getting to some of the options and they could most certainly use some UI simplification.
@@tooltester Okay yeah I watch the video as a comparison - you updated a week ago, features which was updated on Shopify on to video comment - so you could update here and add Wix's updates too is relevant for the comparison ☺️
Hi there. Shopify offers more features than Wix's eCommerce solution, which is why it's a bit more complex and you might need a bit more time to get into it. But it's logically structured and set up an online store is not really complicated. The ease of use is actually pretty good. Wix is a little bit more ahead regarding the ease of use though. Finally, what solution is more suitable depends a bit on what requirements you have :).
Even Shopify won. I still consider Wix is a better option for beginners. As a small business, the $13 a month plan sounds good enough for me. Thank you for your helpful information.
Hi there. Thanks for your feedback :). Wix is indeed very good for beginners and their plans are a bit cheaper. But Shopify actually has a little bit more and, in some cases, better eCommerce features. Plus although it has many functions, it's still pretty intuitive and not that complicated. In general, I'd say it depends a bit on your requirements, whether Wix or Shopify is the more suitable option :).
Wix seems ok Until they hold your payment from customers then tell you to submit documents for verification after which they don’t respond. Then when you try to refund the customer they charge you a fee of 170 usd then tell you you need to add money to your account to pay for the refund. I’ve used wix and it seems like a scam
WIX, has everything. If you need something make a suggestion and they will eventually get around to it. They really do listen their customers. In the U.S. they are always available 24/7. They call you back. WIX is constantly growing and building new partnerships and sometimes they let you the user test out these new options before the general public or a price is added. They are now beta testing with e-bay. You will connect your site to sell to customers on E-bay, that is great. I don't know Tester folks, but WIX has it going on. [Revisit in order] They are supportive to your business goals. Shopify is good too, but you get so much more with WIX for your $$$.

Thanks for your comment Brandon. Wix offers one of the biggest range of integrations available on a website builder, through their App Market, but we're sorry to hear that you aren't able to find the one you're looking for. Perhaps you could add this as a feature request in their Help Center.
@@tooltester I am referring to 3rd party softwares that are not in the Wix Marketplace. Hi @Brandon Stinson Photography , sure, sadly if there isn't an integration-ready it will be difficult to connect your site with Wix. One important thing you didn't mention: Shopify only allows you to make ONE page with full features and graphics (your other pages really suck, with only one photo and all text), whereas Wix allows you to make any number of pages you like with full everything. My company had used wix shop functions for about half a year, and it was so bad honestly lol. I can't deny that Wix is powerful in making beautiful websites, but if you are aiming at developing an advanced shopping website, Wix is just not the choice. And we decided to move our platform to shopify now.
Hi there. Wix is indeed a powerful tool and suitable for beginners that don't have a lot of knowledge on website building yet or for users that want to save some time. Also, I don't think their eCommerce solution is bad. They have a lot of useful features. What is the case though, is that other alternatives like e.g. Shopify, can offer a bit more functions. And Wix is rather suitable for smaller to midsized online stores. If you're looking for more features or are planning on creating a bigger online store with many products, other providers like Shopify are probably more suitable. In the end, it depends on your scenario, which choice is the best for you :).
Sorry, but Wix lets you customize your site however you want with drag-and-drop and embed features. You can essentially built your site however you want. it's literally endlessly customizable.
Design-wise it pretty much is. But have you tried adding checkout in multiple currencies, for example? If you want to build a really advanced store you may hit some roadblocks when it comes to customization.

Hi there. Shopify actually doesn't have a free plan, so you'll always have to pay for one after you ended the trial period. Not sure if I am missing something?
Shopify is not easier. Have you use wix? Damn that's so easy. You can customize with a one of the best pagebuilder i used. I have different shops. 2 shopify shops and a couple in woocommerce and 1 in Wix. The only thing i find wix is slow.

@@HappiSabi Hi Sabi. Thanks for your feedback. I think the fewer time users have to spend setting up their store, the better, so having in integrated solution is always more practical. However, yes, you're right, it's also possible to set up more payment options manually. Another point is that Shopify allows multiple currencies - Wix doesn't offer this yet.
Well, I was going to go with Shopify but after learning that they are charging for transaction fee, no way! Wix is the way to go, especially for e-commerce
Hi there. Shopify would only charge if you don't use its payment processor solution (Shopify Payments). And yes Wix won't charge you extra-transaction fees, if you have a smallish online store, Wix is not a bad option. More information: www.websitetooltester.com/en/blog/shopify-vs-wix/?
Hi @@tasadem20. Please be aware that Shopify Payments is not available in every country. Please, check this guide for more information: www.websitetooltester.com/en/blog/shopify-payments/
Hi Asghar. Hmm it's difficult to recommend one without having more details, but if you expect your ecommerce project to be big, I think Shopify is a much better alternative. However, as you can't use Shopify Payments in India, you'll have to pay extra-transaction fees. You can compare both of them more in detail here: www.websitetooltester.com/en/blog/shopify-vs-wix
I want to start an online clothing store and hopefully I can get really big like Supreme or Nike one day. I also would like to sell internationally. Which website do you recommend for me?
Hi Imani, if you have ambitions that grand, personally I would go with Shopify! In an international context I think you'll have many advantages (multilingual shop, multi-currency, more integrations etc.).
Wix because you can do great blog posts about your clothes to generate traffic. That's how they started as website host for Bloggers and then moved on to eCommerce to help fashion designers/ bloggers sell their clothing. If you take off big just call them and ask for their Enterprise package most of these website hosts have that type of packages. Good Luck!
I want to sell two products but but way more items like lashes but different lash styles and I don’t want to be limited on how many style I can sell...which would be best for me?
Hi there. If you are only going to sell 2 products, perhaps Wix is a better option (because it's a bit cheaper). However, if you wanted to grow your online store, I think Shopify would be better. You can try both for free and see which one you like better.
Hi there! In theory, Wix could support a large business, but there are a few technical limitations that might affect the performance of the site/store. For one thing, larger businesses tend to have bigger websites, and Wix supports a maximum of 100 static pages, whereas Shopify has no page limits. Wix sites also tend to load slower when there are a lot of pages (support.wix.com/en/article/wix-editor-creating-a-multi-page-site), so that's something to keep in mind. Another factor is search engine rankings - there's evidence to suggest that larger Wix sites don't tend to rank as well as those built with other website builders (see our article here: www.tooltester.com/en/blog/wix-vs-wordpress/#SEO_Will_I_show_on_search_engines). Finally, Shopify's track record in supporting larger stores is very established, whereas Wix's is less so. That could definitely change in the future, but until we see more examples of this, we think Wix is still better suited to smaller businesses.
Hi Daniel, I think in this case you should indeed go for Shopify or maybe WooCommerce even. There you should find templates and plugins that allow you to do that.
Hi Brian. OK, I'll try to explain. Website storage is about how many files you can store on your website. When you upload images and videos to your website, that's what takes up the most space because the file size is bigger. So if e.g. each product has many images or videos associated with them, then the more products you add, the less space you have left in your web storage. The actual products entered into the database don't take a lot of web space, it's the files associated with the products that do. I hope this helps.
Good review, thanks, and I have a question for you: We're starting with one product, and in about a year we'll be adding a bunch more. With the lower transaction rates and easier DIY setup of Wix (i.e. also cheaper), does it make sense to start with Wix and then migrate to Shopify as our inventory grows? Or do you recommend just going with the long-term platform from the beginning? TIA...
Not sure what he'd recommend, but honestly if you're going to start that small, I'd say start with squarespace. You can always migrate over to shopify later once you've grown.
Hi Devante. You are somehow right, you can customize some Wix code if you use Wix Velo (former known as Wix Code). However, Shopify's flexibility is greater and there are hundreds (if not thousands) of Shopify developers.
Hi there! Yes, Shopify has integrations with close to 80 dropshipping apps, including Oberlo, which gives you access to suppliers like AliExpress. (More info at: www.tooltester.com/en/blog/oberlo-review/) Wix on the other hand only has access to around 5 dropshipping apps - more info at www.tooltester.com/out/wix-dropshipping-request
Hi there. With Wix, you can embed some code (e.g. HTML and CSS). For example, to add s (e.g. embed RUclips videos) or code on your footer and header (e.g. implement Google Analytics). However, you don't have access to the entire source code.
great video thank you. Now i know Shopify offers an option to link-up the terminal payment for physical events or shops to the website general stock management. And it comes quite handy when you're too busy writing all your ins and outs on busy pop-up days, it just updates stocks automatically when selling. As for myself, I've been working on a wix template until now but i'd like to know if there's an equivalent to that, linking-up let's say I-Zettle (maybe?) terminal payment to my website stocks? anyhow? Don't know maybe another company than I-Zettle does it? That would make one hell of a difference. Otherwise i'm considering switching to Shopify which is more expansive for that reason only....Annoying really. Thank you so much for your reply! =)
Thanks for your comment. Yes, Wix does allow you to set up terminal/POS payments, and will automatically update your store's inventory. However, at this stage it's only possible to accept terminal payments via cash or through Square. You can find more information here: www.websitetooltester.com/out/wix-pos-payments
Hi Kamy, well, there are cheaper alternatives too. Check out Wix, for example: www.websitetooltester.com/en/best-ecommerce-website-builder/? For smaller online stores it should work just fine.
The last part of this video is incorrect. I use Wix and they call you back 24/7. Although they only offer call backs. I've waited on average under 3 minutes.
Hi Johnny. You're partly correct. Wix offers a 24/7 callback service for the English-speaking market. For other countries, they are operating during fixed business hours. We'll change that info with our next video update. Thanks for the hint and kind regards!
Hello I might be late to this video but I was wondering what would you recommended if I was opening a sublimation phone case business? I also have multiple designs already planned for it.
Hi Alyssa, that really depends on a few factors - how big your store will be, what features you need, how big your budget is etc. One thing worth noting though is that both Wix and Shopify use templates - they can be modified, but it just means you might not be able to use the exact design you want. You can try out our Smart Finder tool, which might help to point you in the right direction: www.websitetooltester.com/en/blog/shopify-vs-wix (scroll down a few sections to find the Smart Finder). Hope that helps.
Hi there. I would recommend either Wix or Squarespace as they are good to sell digital goods (e.g. books) online. If I am not mistaken, you'll need an external app to sell subscriptions with Shopify, it's not built-in the system; selling digital products with Shopify is not a problem. More information: www.websitetooltester.com/en/shopify-vs-wix-ecommerce-vs-squarespace-ecommerce/
Hi Alette. Shopify offers more options than Wix when it comes to shipping features; however, they are also the more expensive option. You can set up a weight of the dimension you're mentioning for products with Wix already, so it depends probably a bit on what other features you need, whether Shopify or Wix is the better option for you. Wix offers a free plan and Shopify has a free trial for 14 days, so you could see which one you like better :).
Hi there, we'd recommend checking out Wix's templates (www.websitetooltester.com/out/wix-ecommerce-templates) and Shopify's templates (www.websitetooltester.com/out/shopify-vs-wix-templates) to help you make your decision. Most templates can be modified to sell just one product, although you might find making changes easier with Wix. Wix also offers templates specific to single products, e.g. www.websitetooltester.com/out/wix-ecommerce-single-product
Hi Milo. You don't say much about the needs that your online store will have. However, I imagine you are looking to have many cards (e.g. hundreds?) if so, I think Shopify is a better alternative. But please, before paying for a plan, try Shopify for free: www.websitetooltester.com/out/shopify

Is that a fact
This is such a great video! Thank you subscribed
This was an excellent video! Thank you!
Thank you, very informative
Nice vídeo and great explanation. Thanks from Mexico
Hi Joshua. Many thanks for your kind feedback :).

In my opinion, Shopify is a lot better because it lets u connect to your own domain without paying for any plan. Moreover, Shopify is easier to use compared to Wix. Thanks to Shopify's minimalistic design
Which is better for a “membership/subscription” business model? Something like founderscard for example…
Very informative. Thank you!
Great content, but that would have to stand in awe for the video production, just amazing!!!
Hi Ishag. Many thanks for your kind feedback! We're pleased hearing that :).
I like wix.
Thank you for this❣️
No payment fees for Wix and you give a point to Shopify? I'm confused
Hi there. Shopify is getting a point here, since they offer way more payment options and currencies than Wix.
@@tooltester They don't offer more, you just have to click on the 3rd party payment options.. it's faffing around more yes of course but doesn't justify a point lol
@@HappiSabi Hi Sabi. Thanks for your feedback. I think the fewer time users have to spend setting up their store, the better, so having in integrated solution is always more practical. However, yes, you're right, it's also possible to set up more payment options manually. Another point is that Shopify allows multiple currencies - Wix doesn't offer this yet.
very good, pragmatic, no bullshit, no filler 👍
Well, I was going to go with Shopify but after learning that they are charging for transaction fee, no way! Wix is the way to go, especially for e-commerce
Hi there. Shopify would only charge if you don't use its payment processor solution (Shopify Payments). And yes Wix won't charge you extra-transaction fees, if you have a smallish online store, Wix is not a bad option. More information: www.websitetooltester.com/en/blog/shopify-vs-wix/?
@@tooltester Hmm, thank you for the clarification, that changes everything and now it make more sense! I think I will try Shopify first:)
Hi @@tasadem20. Please be aware that Shopify Payments is not available in every country. Please, check this guide for more information: www.websitetooltester.com/en/blog/shopify-payments/
What a great video. My goodness!
So helpful! Thank you!
I guess i made the perfect decision.🙏🏼🌈
I used shopify once but it was really frustrating, expensive, and there are only a few free simple templates.
Thank you for the feedback :)
Can you please guide me Which is best for e commerce /groceries in India 🇮🇳 ..i know some programming..
Excellent comparison!
Thanks a lot for your nice feedback! :)
Good Luck!
@imani kirlew may i know your mail id
Ok wix let’s go now!
Well explained thank you
This was very helpful!
Nice video with critical methods to improve your business.
This video makes me lean more towards wix lol
Hi Jade. So then, we're happy the video helps you to take a decision ;).
thank you
can i import product from aliexpress in wix?
Hi Rahul. Sure, you should be able to sell products from Ali Express (and others) with the Mondalyst app: www.websitetooltester.com/out/wix-mondalyst
I don't understand why wix is only for small to medium sized businesses. What's prohibiting it from being a good platform for a large business?
Hi if i want to build an Online Market Place like fiverr or carousell
I guess Shopify is the best out of ALL the platforms out there?
Wordpress
Hi Daniel, I think in this case you should indeed go for Shopify or maybe WooCommerce even. There you should find templates and plugins that allow you to do that.
What is the significance of website storage? Essentially, is it just a limit on how many products you can put on the site at once?
Hi Denise! I think starting with Wix makes sense in this case if you want to test the waters. It's definitely going to be easier than with Shopify.
Wix was so easy for me
That’s not true you can customize wix backend html you just have to activate developer mode in settings.
Hi Devante. You are somehow right, you can customize some Wix code if you use Wix Velo (former known as Wix Code). However, Shopify's flexibility is greater and there are hundreds (if not thousands) of Shopify developers.
When u said Shopify gives you more drop shipping options, what does this mean specifically ? more wholesalers? appreciate any help thanks
Great vedio thank you so much.
I would love to know what software you used to make this beautiful video?
It's made with After Effects. Thanks for the great feedback!
@elijah Xbib You create videos with it... I don't think it's made for that.
SO BIAS.
Thank you for this!
you can add htlm and css in wix
And it comes quite handy
when you're too busy writing all your ins and outs on busy pop-up days, it just updates stocks automatically when selling.
The Shopify is good but you need to pay for handle and to use it monthly wich I find sad for people who has a small Bussiness
What would you recommend for an author selling books and bookmarks?
Also which website would be better for selling subscriptions? Wix or Shopify?
Hi there. I would recommend either Wix or Squarespace as they are good to sell digital goods (e.g. books) online. If I am not mistaken, you'll need an external app to sell subscriptions with Shopify, it's not built-in the system; selling digital products with Shopify is not a problem. More information: www.websitetooltester.com/en/shopify-vs-wix-ecommerce-vs-squarespace-ecommerce/
Click funnels!
Which would you say would be better in shipping. hence, im selling products that weight about 3 pounds. Which would be the best and more affordable.
LOVE THE BGM
Waaaaaayyyyyyyyyyzzzz! I swear! I have decided! Thank you soooo much! I was super worried and now... I just know! Thanks!
Plz, between shopify and Wix, which one get the best free template for a single product store ?? I need to know before activating my subscription 🙏🙏🙏
Selling sports cards..who should I go with?
Thanks!
Hi Milo. You don't say much about the needs that your online store will have. However, I imagine you are looking to have many cards (e.g. hundreds?) if so, I think Shopify is a better alternative. But please, before paying for a plan, try Shopify for free: www.websitetooltester.com/out/shopify
Cool!
What software do you use to create that type of video?
I would like to create a similar video for dog food review
Hi Mateus, thanks. It's mainly After Effects.
Which is best to sell digital files?
Hi Dalal! They both allow you to sell digital downloads. You may also want to check out this blog post: www.websitetooltester.com/en/blog/sell-digital-downloads/?
I'm building a large scale clothing store, which would you recommend?
Hi Christy, if you want to scale it to something large (100+ items) then definitely Shopify. You can find our Shopify review here: ruclips.net/video/HCcgkX6mOq4/видео.html
which one would be recommended to open up an e commerce store in India? keeping mind in the payment gateways.
Hi there. The tool with the most payment gateways is Shopify (Wix has a few too). I'd suggest you to check it out and see if it's suitable for your project, especially if you are looking to create a mid-sized or large ecommerce (e.g. more than 50 products).
