Quick word of advice to anyone else who wants to try a run like this: Shock spells are the best kind of spells. The game doesn't tell you this, but many enemy types have resistances/weaknesses to certain damage types. Out of the three Destruction magic types, Shock has the fewest number of enemies that resist it.
To note: Named dragons are resistant. Storm atronachs are immune. Das it. Named dragons have flat 50/75 to all elements (depending on which named dragon). So you have 1 enemy resisting/immune to just lightning… one that can only exist if another enemy summons it.
@@samakiraroyjanssen6326 ...Holy cow, I didn't realize they were _that_ good! The wikis never actually specified. Now it makes sense why Shock spells are the most expensive of the three to cast.
Other ES games also have shock as a go to spell as very few mobs like vampires, wereboars, high end dedra and badly coded steel golems. Going to do another lp of Daggerfall unity!
The spell does existed it's called dead thrall and conjuration really isn't that hard to level just need a soul trap spell and use it on a horse pretty sure it could be master in less then a hour.

I’ve never played Skyrim and on my first play through I religiously only upgraded destruction/ enchantment and thats how I beat the game on my first run.
Last week I beated Skyrim with only magic. I trained restoration, illusion and destruction. I used fireballs, the Mark of death shout, healed my self and also became invisible to skip the dungeons and the enemies.
It's easy to win with magic on any difficulty. It just takes a little while to get your stats where you need them to dominate all of Tamriel. I like to take my time doing side quests level up learn different schools of magic and collect spell books. I used to try to speed through all of my playthroughs but now I enjoy the long plays trying to do every mission possible.
I cant imagine doing magic builds on legendary or Master. Especially early on. Magicka depletes so fast, and while I do love magic in Skyrim I do think spell damage is a bit weaker than melee. Of course once you get high enchanting Magic becomes really powerful, but the process of getting there sounds hellish on those difficulty levels. (Of course Archery is the best damage type in Skyrim. XD)
Basically me on my first (and only) playthrough. I have to admit that it was pretty tricky at the beginning because I started on difficulty expert and i simply had not enough magica to deal with high level enemies or large groups of enemies. At some point I decided to switch to adept difficulty because it was too frustrating. Once I unlocked the archmage robe and enchanting 100 things became pretty easy. I never really used staffs or summoned weapons but I think I should have because they appear to be pretty cool in my opinion. I also used spells from all of the five disciplines except illusion but I think illusion is pretty cool if you know the level of your enemy.
Yeah I could have made this challenge A LOT easier if I had taken my time and unlocked better spells/magic weapons. Magic is already pretty weak imo and trying to play through the game while under leveled and underpowered just made it even more difficult
See the more fun challenge is magic only. IE no weapons, no armor, no enchantments, no potions, no lockpicks. Just your magic for offense, defense, and healing. On legendary difficulty and permadeath. Only exceptions are books. You have to read spell books to learn spells, so allowed. Keys. While there are some magical ways to open locks, especially in Anniversary Edition, you still need keys on occasion, and Quest related items. This doesn't mean you can get the Skeleton Key and use it the whole game cause it's a Quest item. This means you can use quest items only as much as is absolutely necessary to complete the quest. You can also use Standing Stones and Black Book powers as they're magic and not really locked into an object you have to carry around with you. You can wear clothes, just not enchanted clothes, and that's about it. Some tips. Avoid Destruction magic. Without enchantments to bolster Magicka regen or reduce spell cost it's just to expensive. You want to lean into Conjuration and Illusion. Cast and forget spells that last awhile. Stealth is also your friend. In the regards to Muffle and Invisible spells allowing you to avoid conflicts and escape no win situations. Final tip. Once you max out Conjuration and Illusion you'll start feeling pretty strong again. Like this is doable. You're not. One mistake, one stray arrow, one stray spell, and you're dead. You'll need to put a lot of points into Magicka just to make casting without spell reduction viable, so you'll have barely any health. On Legendary with enemies doing 3 times as much damage and only flesh spells to protect you, (If you have the Magicka to cast them), you'll be beyond squishy. Good luck, and may the Nine watch over you.
... trivially. And with more efficiency than you showed here. Could even make a point of mastering Destruction and maxing out damage without crafting first. Focused skill growth, shalidor's insights, the solstheim dragon preists' masks, a bit of elswyr fondue, master robes, a ring of recovery, and some purchased potions and you're golden. On the highest difficulty and at end-game, you'll want some brewed potions and manually enchanted gear but for a challenge like this, the previous is well beyond adequate.
Just use summon daedra for the rest of the game after you use soul trap on a dead wolf to level your conjuration to 100. Went through an entire playthrough that way.
Im doing a play through like this. My husband told me I couldn’t do it but I told him in every other game I’m a mage I’m one in this game too 😂 I’ve never fully played through Skyrim as a young teen my attention span was flawed 😂 So now I’m 26 and playing for the first time really and decided to only use magic I found a really good housecarl early on and I’m doing pretty good

Tbh magic build is very weak when on legendary and you shouldn't use exploits to level up distruction quickly or any kther thing tbh because world meant to level up with you as u progress . You either gonna be bored to ur core with low progression or die at every encounter because enemies leveled up with you . And u haveny explored enough to get enough gold to bye right spell nor right gear . Sure unbound storm is strong but i dont recommend goin staright for it also if ur playing in legendary u wont be able to defeat them regardless unless ur very careful.

If you use conjuration, you literally won’t need anything because you can summon minions and res dead and use bound weapons
