I always wonder why no one teaches actors this when they're used as props. The basic weird swing open they usually do isn't threatening, but this move is so simple AND for ppl that don't balisong, ACTUALLY looks threatening. This move is def the catalyst to learning more 👍🏽
Yup this is exactly how I learned. My friend left me his for a week and said I’ll be back next week, practice this constantly everyday and I want you to be able to do it when I come back. He knew I liked fidgeting with my hands. And he let me keep them he only told me that he was gonna let me keep them a week was so I really practiced for the short time I had.

This is how my dad taught me to open them. It’s how I’ve always done it. It helps to keep your grip a little bit loose as well when you rotate it that way it turns freely in your hand.
I had one. Pretty cool knife, but in the case I was intending to use it (self defense, simple carry knife for eventual use like opening packaging, cutting fruits, etc) it took forever to open, and the flare and elegance of the moves got in the way. It's like dancing just to open the door for me. Still, I'd love to get one for Christmas lmao
I love my Kershaw Lucha (Blackwash). Been using her for a year now. She's a bit of a machine to upkeep but I reccomend those to anyone who wants a "Solid" but not "Benchmade-Grade" starter.

The real balisong from the philipines is so nice, they are a little stuff when you get them so you can break them in and learn and they have the butterfly logo.
