The best video I have seen of the Acatenango and Fuego volcanoes. The route, the descriptions that Jon makes, the landscapes and the wonderful images they captured, as well as the reactions of amazement and admiration before so much natural beauty. Congrtulations to the stars Jon and Emma !!!
Como !! Que el volcán de fuego les dió la bienvenida regalandoles un espectáculo que maravilloso será estar ahí observando la naturaleza en todo su esplendor
This is an outstanding video, I liked your voice, but what. I liked the most was watching my country's volcanoes, I never in a million years would have hiked those volcanoes. Congratulations for a work well done, keep up the good stuff rolling.
I travel to Guatemala alot and this is on my bucket list and after seeing your video it looks so amazing!!! I see that OX expeditions has different volcano packages did you do the overnight or double whammy????
We did the Double Whammy. You can actually decide when you get up there. We booked the overnight and then when we got up decided we wanted to go the extra distance. It was worth it.
Definitely recommend my home country🇬🇹 it’s absolutely beautiful .❤️❤️❤️❤️🇬🇹🇬🇹🇬🇹🇬🇹 Wow that’s amazing 🌋 we have our own Mount Everest in my Country. Thank you guys🙏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🌋 The view is amazing you guys made it totally breathtaking.
Thank you so much for share your adventure and information God bless you both!! Continue living 100%!!! I'm going to be there in two weeks... do you have the tour agency inf? I will appreciate it
awesome, thanks for sharing it, do u remember how long is the walk hike from base camp to Fuego volcano just to see the lava, before you went to sleep ? thanks
The packs we used were both provided by the outfitter (Ox Expeditions). They weren't anything special and were pretty old. I think one was a Jansport brand. They were 50 or 60 liter packs, which is honestly excessive for an overnight trip. They were mostly empty. Have an awesome trip!
Exceptional video. This was well put together and very informative. What kind of camera did you use? I have a sony ar1 but would be SCARED to bring it.
This was the best Acatenango footage that I've seen so far, especially from the ridge! Great videography and shots and got lucky with the weather it seems! The rocksteady in the DJI Osmo really does a good job while climbing down haha. How come you didnt fly your drone at the ridge? The summit looked too windy to launch, but the ridge looked calm.
Thanks! The ridge was deceptive as far as the wind. There was a very strong airflow just 20 feet ovehead. We watched another guy take off with his drone and lose it almost immediately as it blew off and crashed into the mountainside. I would have loved to have flown that evening though.
The cloud Forrest is amazing, all the green tree trunks and the mist. I hiked this last Wednesday 15th September & im doing it again the following Wednesday!
It took us about 3 hours to base camp and another hour and a half to the knife ridge. After camping the night summiting Acatenango is maybe another hour or so.
Pretty amazing little adventure you've gone on. I'm rather envious. Must have been totalamente amazing. With all that said, are you familiar with the catastrophe that happened with people visiting an active volcano in NZ by boat? It was like 13 dead in an areas that people actively visited for volcanism adventurism. I'm not kidding...I think it's seriously cool to go to those areas...but how much would I risk for those that go there with me as the guide? In Hawaii, it's pretty cool to go around those areas, and I'll tell you why: there are professional seismologists that are actively monitoring those areas for volcanic forecasting. And, therefore, one will get a lot of warning concerning a volcanic eruption. Not so much outside of the explicit US.
This has been on my bucket list for the past 2 years and hopefully next year I can get it done. Is there any danger with fuego having a massive eruption and afecting the people at Acatenango?
I hope you have the opportunity! As far as the danger, it could happen. The guides are pretty well tuned in with what looks normal with Fuego, so I think they would be able to read the signs if there were any. Obviously you can't ever fully predict nature though. On the knife ridge and Acatenango you are close enough that a major eruption would be pretty catastrophic I imagine. Pyroclastic clouds move so quickly you'd have little time to do much.
Awesome video! I'm getting ready to release a video from my experience. We weren't so lucky with the clouds covering up most of the explosions, and when we got on the ridge of el Fuego we almost get swept off it!
@@tynanroussety917 i went right around new years! I have a video on my channel as well so you can see the whole experience! I can also get you in touch with a guide!
Thanks! Covid wasn't a thing when we were there, it started a few months later. As far as crime we never had any issues and never felt unsafe. There is crime in Guatemala City but Antigua and Panajachel where we stayed are very safe.
Hi! Great videos, really enjoying following along -- we are a California couple who just transplanted to San Cristobal, we live 3 blocks from the historic center -- our third time in San Cris, love it so much -- would love to meet up for coffee if you are based out of SC
Oh awesome! Glad you are enjoying the videos! We aren't in San Cristobal right now. We left when covid hit. We will likely be back but probably not till next year. We will have to connect when we are back in the area!
@@OurMillionAdventures Awesome, stay safe -- we can't get enough of your cute little kiddos -- Your videos are so, so helpful in breaking down some of the popular destinations in Chiapas. Also really love the puppet show intro for Arcotete.
It is so hard. People were crying/gasping for air many of them fell it was freezing during night but I will do it again just this time i would be prepare with the adequate clothes shoes and physically fit to manage.
This hike was so amazing on so many levels. As you'll see I was overcome emotionally several times. What's on your "Bucket List"?
This video should be nominated for a Oscar as best documentary piece.
Just brilliant.
Honestly, one of the best videos about Acatenango and Fuego that I've seen. Very detailed, great comments and advice.; and beautifully edited!
Wow, thank you! Appreciate the comment.

Magnificent, great, awesome!!!

Absolutely beautiful!
How much is the entrance to the volcano? And the tour??
Totalmente increíble!
Gracias muchachos!
Park entry fee was around 15$ USD and the tour was 129$ per person.
Beautiful video! so touching!
Thank you so much!

Thanks for watching! The tour agency is Ox Expeditions. They run out of Antigua and are really great. Enjoy Guatemala.
@@OurMillionAdventures thank you!
Sure thing! Enjoy and have a safe climb!
Good job. Mi país siempre luce bello. La tierra de los mayas.
Omg your video is amazing 👏 😍 💖
awesome, thanks for sharing it, do u remember how long is the walk hike from base camp to Fuego volcano just to see the lava, before you went to sleep ? thanks
It was about two hours one way if I remember well.
Omg 😱 tank you guys for visiting my country
This looks amazing. Im planning on doing this later in the year. I have a question on gear! What packs were you both using?
The packs we used were both provided by the outfitter (Ox Expeditions). They weren't anything special and were pretty old. I think one was a Jansport brand. They were 50 or 60 liter packs, which is honestly excessive for an overnight trip. They were mostly empty. Have an awesome trip!
Exceptional video. This was well put together and very informative. What kind of camera did you use? I have a sony ar1 but would be SCARED to bring it.
I brought a Sony a6000, and a goPro. To be honest I wouldn't have been sad to lose the Sony. I need an excuse to get the a7siii 😉

Let me clarify. I would do such a hike solo without hesitation.
With others...no!
No way, absolutely not. It's not safe.
As long as I had my will in good order.
This is for SURE on my bucket list now!
It definitely should be! We should all go hike it together when Covid gets under control
Awesome!! 😯😯😯😯
Amazing
I love this video! I’m getting ready to go there in early August. What time of year did you go?

You can book them through the Ox Expeditions website or in person in Antigua. Enjoy your time in Guatemala!

And...do you know what a pyroclastic flow is?
Let me give you a clue: it's what instantly mummified the people of Pompeii.
