How did you guys find doing it in trainers? Was anyone else wearing them too? I'm planning to go to Guatemala post covid, but really don't fancy lugging some hiking boots all the way there!
Hey! We found it no problem and I don’t think we were the only ones! Not worth taking boots all the way there just for a few treks. Definitely some trainers with good grip, we did Patagonia, Machu Picchu in the same shoes.
Yes the trek is on Acatenango to see Fuego as this is very active all the time. However, the volcano we trekked is still considered active, just no eruption since 1972. So much safer to trek! It was amazing

I'm on the same boat. Debating taking some waterproof shoes. They say rain comes and goes quick. I would hate to hike with wet feet.

Acatenango is NOT an active volcano, the neighbor Fuego it is active.
