Absolutely the best last 2 rounds of golf I've seen in a long time. I'm a big fan of Rory and have been for a long time but he rightly should not not be too down about losing this one as even with his b game he did himself and supporters proud so well played Rory!
Rory is a great champion. He will win more tournaments. Me , I’m very happy for Billie Horschel. He is such a great player as well. And he loves to play in Europe. 😊😊😊
@@S7VmvLots of first class players haven't won a major, lots of ordinary players have won a major. I'd rather have say Luke Donalds career than the likes of Webb Simpson or Brian Harman. I'd also take McIlroys career over the last 10 years than that of Many a major winner.
I get second sucks but it’s still better than 3rd. Very impressive how Rory keeps contending. Remember Xander kept contending and could not win…but then he won 2 majors in a season.
Yes I agree with the previous person's statement and that Rory should hold his head up high for I believe his game and his course management has improved so much.
You could really see the emotion. He was holding back tears. Great guy and what a promoter of the game we all love. I'm sure he will be lifting another trophy very soon.
Skill wise, Rory is the best of his generation in my view. The truth is, in these play off holes and fourth round back 9s, you have to go and aggressively try and win the match. You can hedge your bets and make pars and hang in there but you have much less of a chance to win if you don’t gamble. Aaron Rai has my respect as he went for it in the last few holes, Rory has the ability in buckets - he just needs to take a risk. Finishing 3rd or 6th or 2nd is all the same - he doesn’t need the money or the points. Fortune favours the brave. Go for it Rory!
Well done Rory, played well despite not quite having your swing in the right place. Billy putted the lights out all week and was a worthy winner. Great competition between you guys. 100% you are going to win the Masters next year.
An absolutely class act and what a talent. Best player to watch bar none and always very straight and honest with his interviews. His consistency over the years is very underrated, to be around the very top of the game for 15 years or so is a hell of an achievement in itself and long may it continue ⛳🏌🏾👏🏼
if i had 240 to the pin and only needed a birdie to win i would have laid up! he didn't need to go for that shot. sometimes his decision making is really questionable. but the playoff was great, too one hell of a putt to beat him. 4 rounds in the 60's is a well played week.
He needs a proper caddy that will make him lay up in those situations. The caddy is the reason he's not winning the tournaments he should be winning imo.
At the US Open it was hard hearing PGAT fans - cheering against Rory by chanting USA/USA. Rory can help the game of golf & himself - by only playing a few PGAT events. Rory doesn’t need more PGAT event wins. His real fans are International ones. 😀 Rory can help himself as a person by supporting and playing the European tour, our even some LIV events also.
@@ragecave518 That is his decision. Hope he makes wise lifestyle decisions. Think he would join LIV if money is his priority. Playing in Europe seems to build his confidence and might help him win more majors. It was just rough seeing PGAT fans basically cheering for an American LIV player at the US Open against Rory. I think LIV does have the advantage that players compete all in the same weather conditions in their format, and fans get to see their favourite players {that they pay to see in person - without the risk of being cut maybe when playing in unfair weather conditions}. But hey - I just love golf & nobody really listens to me. 😀
@@jimlangdon1947 I hear ya. And when I meant money, I was referring to American corporate money, not LIV. Rory’s always in a commercial over here for various things.
He’s had pretty straightforward wins for US open, Irish open and now BMW 3 massive events and he’s thrown them away due to lack of mental strength when it matters the most…. All he needed was pars on 18 at US & last week and he wins… Massive shame to see
He played well, but when he needed to hit the 18 th green in regulation to two putt for a win he could not close it out, still has issues finishing a tournament, but still played very well again....

Just think about this for a second he’s won the race to Dubai 4 times lol. Most ever. He’s won the Fedex Cup and the race to Dubai in the same year. I think everyone forgets how good he actually is,
A truly wonderful ball striker, truly wonderful, but his putting will always, sadly, let him down. There's something about putting, you can either make key putts or you can't. As good a player as Rory is he just can't make really key putts. It's just one of them things and he knows it too.
You can't argue with a guy who makes an eagle against your birdie to win. Rory knows he's not to blame for this one. You tip your cap to Horschel and move on.
Yes he played great but I was surprised at how many long putts he had . He was no where near the hole on many approach shots, even with short irons. He’s no Trevino. 🤷♂️
It's a different opponent every time it seems. The putting that Christian Bale displayed in those last two rounds is nothing short of remarkable. Yet, Rory is always there it seems. I see an incredible 2025 for Rory....and 2024 wasn't half bad either.
😂I think a look for another caddie and a putting guru might help his pitch at 18 was poor and not carrying a 3 iron questionable but love or hate Rory he's made me watch golf again.!!! Billy Boy a well liked guy and what a run of birdies on Saturday.
