    All of the clear tubing will be full of algea. Water systems tubing are made in black to prevent light. Light and water means algea

    • @tenneyplants
      @tenneyplants  3 года назад +4

      Oh interesting, I didn’t think about that with the clear tubing. Maybe something I’ll let the company who produces them know about so they can create a better product. Thanks for your comment!

      This is true, I swapped mine for black.

    • @NoMoreMrNiceGuy223
      @NoMoreMrNiceGuy223 3 года назад +7

      Well the fact that the company who produces this item overlooked that makes it clear that is has no expertise in hydro of any sorts. Its the typical Alibaba/wish object. The building block of any hydro setup is to avoid Algea because of the problems it will bring along with it. Also, you cannot irrigat a 5 gallon pot with a single dripper without some kind of halo and expect a uniform humiduty in the root zone If your using a hydroponic medium such as hydroton wich tend to drain more then soil because it will actually shrink your root zone as your concentrating only in a single spot the roots will not expand as they need humidity uniformity in the entire root zone if not they will prune them selfs.

    I bought this and tried it a few days ago. I had troubles putting the dripping ends into the tube because the tube was very tight (Great, I thought). My setup involves multiple T connections, 1 tube branching into 2, then 2 into 4, then 4 into 8 dripping ends. When I turned the machine on and it started pumping the water I noticed that on every T connection the water was dripping a lot, around one tablespoon in 30 seconds of it running. That's not really a little considering that I'd need to run it for some 90 seconds. I guess I was not very lucky with my batch of cables but I don't like to rely on luck anyway. I personally give this overpriced product 2 stars and am surprised that in EU online market it's basically the only option for the task (others have significantly less good reviews). I hope this will be useful info for those considering buying this.

Another thing I did was turn the timer/ pump on the outside of the bucket, so it won’t accidentally fall into the water. Seems to work good for now. Will put security cam on it so I can observe it from a far.

      So my mom is using it much more than me because she travels more. She hasn’t had any issues with it yet. She has had to adjust it since she had it watering too much at first so it sounds like it’s best to err on the side of under-watering, at least with houseplants.

    I got the system thru Amazon and followed the installation instructions but my problem was fitting the spikes to the tubing as it very narrow and got frustrated getting it to fit. So I do not understand how you can say that it was EASY to fit them with no problem !!! If you have a solution let me know otherwise tomorrow I'll return it. Thank you. I'm looking forward to your response.

    • @tenneyplants
      @tenneyplants  3 года назад

      Yeah it does take some effort to fit them. I would suggest placing your fingers a few inches back from the end of the tubing to push them on. Or maybe even trying to put a bit of oil or Vaseline on the spike where it connects.
      The tubing needs to be narrow so that it creates a tight fit and no water can leak out and spray everywhere.
      I hope that helps!

    Have you had any issues with siphoning at all? I'm working on a sort of miniature greenhouse project, and I have a small pump on a timer that feeds a drip irrigation line, but even if the pump stops water still continues to flow because it started a siphon at that point. Does this system have some kind of valve or something that prevents siphoning?

    • @tenneyplants
      @tenneyplants  3 года назад +1

      I haven't noticed any siphoning occurring so far. There is no visible valve to prevent siphoning but I think their must be some sort of valve within the pump because the input hose and the output hose run through the pump and seem to stop any sort of siphoning. I hope that answer helps! And I hope you're miniature greenhouse build goes well!

    • @stephencoleman8883
      @stephencoleman8883 3 года назад +1

      These units do siphon water once the pumps go off and can flood plants

    • @mepp_rider7221
      @mepp_rider7221 3 года назад +1

      If siphoning is an issue (it was for me) I would recommend buying a peristaltic pump, commercial timer and time delay relay. This will allow an absolute precision, no matter how high or low pump is in relation to a plants. Zero siphoning, but basic electrical skills and safety precautions required to assembe the circuit.
