I’m revisiting your video on New Year’s Day 2021 here in Australia!🍻🇦🇺 I’ve had my Bullitt since December 2018 & absolutely love it! I’m actually very fortunate to have an original, unmolested 1968 GT390 fastback LHD as you may gather from my thumbnail. It came off the same San Jose production line as the movie Bullitt’s. It was pretty much on that same line at the same time. It’s build date was about a week before the movie car/s & sold just before them too. Anyway I’m loving the new & the old & yes I’m older than the movie! Cheers from “Down Under” & hopefully a better year than the last!🙏🏻🤞🏻🍻😎🇦🇺

The illustration as to the manual transmission going away only represents the laziness of our society. Yes, in traffic in an over populated society I understand why you wouldn't drive a manual, but usually these cars aren't everyday cars.

I’m a motorbike guy, I have ridden them for over 40 years, there’s only 700 Bullitt’s coming to Australia. Only one version which is top spec, $82,000 including on-roads. Why did I buy it - saw a photo on Instagram and loved it. For me, I love the subtle retro touches, which may be lost on the some here, it’s an indulgent toy - but hell as we age we just pay more for our toys. Ordered mine and take delivery at the end of October - what I wouldn’t give to take delivery of #068. Probably the best review so far - not the giggling fanboy nor the grumbling curmudgeon

The producers wanted an exotic car, but Steve wanted a car that could be bought by everyman, hence the Ford Mustang. The Mustang had its turns in two of the James Bond movies, but Bullitt was its coming-out party. And the chase scene became THE iconic mark of high performance on the silver screen. I know that the Mustang was in Thunderball; what was the other movie, because that one escapes me. Let me know.
Very good, very balanced and informative review. I like the way you addressed some of the issues raised in another recent review, (cultural relevance) but you looked at it from several different perspectives and came to the conclusion that in the end it doesn’t really matter - the car stands on its own quite well with or without historical reference. A nice balance of looks, performance and comfort I would say.
This car is just so much fun. The sound is absolutely hilarious. Just happened to find one on the lot with no upcharge. Great review! Will have to catch up the next time you are in Texas.
Ok so...Yes its amazing-Yes I just took delivery of the second Bullit to hit the ground in CT. The only problem is trying to find a dealer with an ALLOCATION!!! There are only 3 given right now for the entire state. Maybe other geographical ares have more but they are next to impossible to get here. I am old enough to remember watching the original movie and this was a huge factor driving my determination to buy one.

Thank you for your review finally one with more information than opinion. I received my bullitt on July 21 and I love it. I tried to explain to Matt Farah That the car and movie are historic because it’s the first time filmmakers mounted cameras on and inside the car to film a car chase scene which is still done it to this day!!! My car has all three options and I love the magna ride. I have a few videos on the drive modes and exhaust sound but just a warning my editing is not good as yours yet LOL...
Brian Makse I was born in 1971 and never really had an interest in older mustangs until I became a huge Mustang fan in high school. Mustangs keep on getting better and improving but it seems sometimes the guys who have the previous body style get upset at the improvements of the newer body style? With the addition of the bullitt I have owned 11 mustangs and if they don’t improve each generation, they will get left behind hopefully everyone can understand this. If your definition of "better" hinges on this feature, get the standard seats.

No, you are wrong. The Recaros are not more comfortable than the base seats......at least for any trip longer than a dash to the grocery store. I am not a wide body by any measure, but the side and bottom bolsters intrude on my space. For primarily track use, yes, get the Recaros. Plus, if you get the Recaros, there goes your heated and cooled seats and your auto seat adjustment functions.
I found the Recaro's to be terribly uncomfortable, mainly in the fact that it presses against your rib cage. Yes I have sensitivity to my back, but still. If you haven't had experience with Recaro, do NOT spend the money. You lose ALL the seat electronics if you do. Standard seats are great and true to the original. The two other options you should get for resale value in 20 years. All you mental midgets ignore this is a limited production, so the extra you pay, will be made up on the back end and more. A 68 mustang sells for 24K or more. That's 10x the original price. Get a calculator to determine this car's worth. I found the exterior to be more impressive than the interior. The interior is great, but I think it relies on all the lights to make it pop, and not the physical interior design itself. The rotors and calipers in the front look like they are meant to stop Godzilla. I'm not exaggerating.
The standard seats are junk for anything beyond mall parking lot speeds. There's simply not enough support across the mid back and shoulders. If you're only driving to and from the mall, then sure, the base seats might be alright. As for the brakes, I'll reserve judgment until I track one, but my guess is that it's all going to come down to the pad.
Eric Williams nobody is going to pay 10x what this car is worth in 20 years. This isn’t a gt350. This is a regular mustang with special paint and wheels and slightly more hp.
Look at the 68 mustang. It's all a gamble but your lack of understanding of the market and where we are with cars makes this discussion moot. Good Luck. It is an investment and it will be worth more than i paid. If you don't believe it don't buy one, but don't think you know what the future has in store in terms of skepticism. It's a worthless thought.
Good review and I was thinking of buying the Bullitt but I am afraid the 5.0 will star "ticking" after a few oil changes. So now I am looking into the GT350 or the ZL1 - 1LE.

Disagree. The Ricaros are less far comfortable and lack the heated/cooling functionality. They are for guys who want to drive the car on the track, not those who want to use it as a car.
Again, I respectfully disagree. The premium leather seats have great support and the additional functionality. They don't look cheap at all. In fact, I think they look better than the Ricaros, which don't quite match the rest of the interior. They look out of place. When I was shopping for mine, I drove some cars with the Recaros, I just didn't like them at all. The other seats are much better.

Love this car except the Bullitt logos on the steering wheel, door sills and faux gas cap. Replace the wheel with a modern GT-350 wheel ( like the movie car) use old school look door sills without ANY logos and use the modern faux gas cap from the GT California. These changes would more complete the understated look and be more period correct. To me staring at the Bullitt logo on the steering wheel would be more annoying than having that fugly KIA badge on the wheel of the new Stinger V6TT. Both are great cars with ugly steering wheels IMO.
Well, it is considered to be the most iconic car chase scene captured on film and many deem McQueen to be the coolest thing to ever come from Hollywood.
It’s an homage car, that caters to a few car guys that remember the movie. It is a special package that appeals to those who like the uniqueness of the Bullitt moniker, and appreciates the styling and performance characteristics. If they’re wrong, why is it they are able to sell them?
if i was not such a cheap ass. i would have one of these. and i like the fact that you can,t get them with a automatic trans. imo. all muscle cars should be a manual trans.
