You are a trip man. I think I like the parts of the video where you focus on things like the train coupling and bridge views. Yeah, mechanical minded guys look at that stuff and just appreciate the history that has gone into making all this stuff work. Great video, Chris.
Not to mention all the quads and dirt bikes riding in the streets. I'm sure the cops realize their time is better to chill and wait for a real crime like jaywalking.
I started long bicycle rides a few years ago. Nothing like the freeedom of strapping a tent to my handlebars and thoughtfully packing essential gear to sustain me. At this point I carry enough tools to do 95% of possible repairs, cook almost all my own food and no longer require motels. Once in a while a paid site for a hot shower and to get stuff dried out. Going south from Upstate New York, the possible dispersed camping dwindles drastically after Pennsylvania if going down the coast. Much better if further inland! Seems like every square inch is accounted for in some places. When I do hopefully find a good spot, I am always respectful and leave no trace, always in near dark out by dawn. Sometimes I get somewhere and it just feels not quite right so I try again, somewhere else. The past couple of years I got good at doing these things in the winter and got better about diet. Its tempting to go straight for carbohydrates but I'm much more capable with extra meals and with extra protein and fats. Made my own pyramid tent from a large tarp and with bug netting for an alternate door and skirt. That thing is the best I can figure for all the possible weather and places. Pops up with a hiking pole, very lightweight. Could carry everything in a packpack if needed, baseweight 12 lbs, all seasons. Been messing with motorized bicycles and just rode an Avenger 85 up into the local moutains for a 40 mile ride with a camp. Fun time! Be fun to move on to the dual sport bikes but I also think bicycle is excellent for not needeing gas, insurance, having a low price for repair. Bicycle provides access to most places, 40-100 miles at a time. Stealth camping, using good principles allows someone like me who was born low income class, to see more of the world and grow as a person.
Cool video, longest run on a engine powered bike that I've viewed. Im a 2stroke rider and am considering building a 4stroke. Thanks for the video and stay safe brother!
Man this was such a great video, this definitely gives me more confidence to finally buy myself a phatmoto and swap the motor with a 79cc predator engine. Add a front wheel electric hub and take a round trip of 800 miles to plano, texas. Ive done a round trip of 35 miles on my 2 stroke 66cc bike. Cant wait to go camping with my new hybrid build. Stay safe and keep doing what you love brother.
gotta make more motorized bike content. i’ve watched all 3 and they are sweet, you document it so well. definitely will be subscribing and watching more. keep up the good work
I bought a 2 stroke motor that was a pain in the ass and I could never get it started. I’m currently saving up for a 4 stroke motorized bike kit. The fact this can travel so long without any issues definitely convinced me it can be a form of reliable transportation.
Which kit did you get? I'm telling you now other than cold starts 2 strokes are better. They have more aftermarket upgrades. It's easier to fix. Sound way cooler and go way faster upgraded. You'd have to get an illegal 4 stroke like a 212cc stock to keep up with a 80cc upgraded 2 stroke motorized bicycle. The 80cc 4 strokes have little to no upgrades at all. With upgrades you can do 75 mph+ on a 2 stroke 80cc.
That…was…awesome! Crazy seeing those 4 wheelers ripping down the street popping wheelies! Looks like you shot up 1&9 for a little bit, went over the Bayonne Bridge and GW. That takes some serious guts for anyone not familiar with the area. I’ve got friends up north that would ride down the side of a mountain but would definitely chicken out on a trip like that. Keep the videos coming!
@@NNKH2 Debating where I should but the 4-stroke…Mongoose Hilltopper mtn bike with front suspension or Huffy Cranbrook cruiser. Any suggestions? Might do pine barrens so I’m thinking the mountain bike but looks simple to install on the cruiser.
I got mine on Amazon and it has been pretty good. Suspension is nice. But I suppose whichever one it looks easier to install in is the one I would choose
hi from Mexico. A few questions; why did you decide to opt for a traditional gas powered engine? Was it for range? the fact you wouldn't have to charge it as with batteries? Or the low price of $200 for the kit? If it were battery powered you wouldn't have the issue of it being a "motorized vehicle" and having to hide it in certain places, as of course motorized vehicles aren't allowed on public transport etc. This was a great trip! It's something i'd also do! 😀 We make vids on a variety of topics
You live close to some really cool areas with great visuals, here in Yakima Valley Washington its pretty stale. Just lots of farm land, dirt, grass, the occasional trees, and a handful of hills. There's a lot of suburbs too but not many good paths to ride on. Anyways, the video was really good and is something I definitely need to try
You live in the west though which has so much more to offer. We are in Moab Utah right now. You should definitely make it down this way sometime. You're so close. Well a lot closer than where I'm from. And thanks man appreciate you checking the video out
I.e--Looks like the sthus Arch tensioner is claimed to keep better alignment and prevent bracket from being pulled into spokes but unknown if really works and especially fits the Hardrock frame
I also have a Hardrock frame, thinking of getting 4 stroke kit for but no gumption/time for constant chain headaches. Please comment on how the stock tensioner has worked out for you long term and particularly if you have found any ready made better replacement. Can the stock tensioner be made safe and do you replace pulleys often? Many thanks, very inspirational videos
The stock chain and system could certainly use Improvement. But mine has held off. I haven't used it much since doing the ride to Manhattan. However it's a very nice tool to have around especially with today's high gas prices. Might even have to go take her for a rip today
@@NNKH2 what kind of motor do you have and you think i could make it from Philadelphia pa to Manhattan i have a 80cc on a Schwinn mesa GS mountain bike
Bro how much oil and gas do you mix. How long would it take to go from Boynton beach FL to lambertville NJ. And do I need to keep adding oil every stop I've never used a motorized bicycle plz tell me
Chris A question,is it heavy to pick up? Im definitely gonna build me one of those motor kits. You have to take it out again for another long journey 👍👌🤘🤙
I think your right!.2 stroke probably be the best bet. Ill try to mod engine too. might even build a frame make it look like a early Harley or Indian and push the engine to it's limits. if i blow it.i can always buy a new kit.they're pretty cheap
I’m know nothing about 4 stroke engines but you might have install your rear sprocket on the wrong side. That maybe the reason why your chain is rubbing

Unlike e-bikes, gasoline bicycle kit is 100% illegal to use in NYC you can't register it either, it's amazing you didn't get stopped riding one.

Sounds like you're living the dream. Thanks for sharing the story here. Was a pleasant read.
Genuinely enjoyed this series, it was enlightening seeing how much you can get up to in a day, meeting people and seeing sights. Thanks for this!
Haha you're nuts! Maybe not as nuts as those dudes on the quads but nuts. Great video!
Thanks man. It was a great time

You will have to stop at hotels to go that far
That was pretty awesome. You need to tell us what seat is on there lol

You ever burn the clutch pads on these some people hate the chain drive
Great content
Nice bro i like that. How did that clutch hold up after that journey. How many CC was that engine.
49 cc 4 stroke

Yes it adds quite a bit of weight but not unreasonable to pick up. I think the two-stroke kits are lighter
