A bit to watching your channel great content!! Watching for 3 months now.... Is your truck rated as a 2500 factory 10,000 gvwr but with a dually 3500 rear end?? Thinking of doing that to me 2018.
I love the sound. The commonrail sounded easy better and louder but I can't complain. With the same exhaust the commonrail would rattle everything within a mile of it😂 This is so tame in comparison
We dealt with that on drop off. The seller took full responsibly for that at the time of pickup. I make most of them sign off on that. There was no damage on the inside except apparently the toilet was a 2 piece so the entire tank fell off the base. The lid took a minor ding but other than that everything was good. It's very important when doing used units that anything can be overlooked so I have always had the customers do all that before hand and sign off on it. There is no reason the driver should be responsible for the inside when the pay is as low as it is. They pay by the mile, not by the labor. I did another walk around of the trailer when I dropped it. That'll be in the next video. The buyer was super happy on drop off though. No complaints from them!
No reason for a driver to be responsible for anything that is inside! Anything going down the road is subject to damage- at any time!! So you drop the haul, and f they refuse to sign the release form?
It doesn't get released until payment is made. I only do cash or com check on delivery. They either pay or it gets taken back to home base and fees get added. Either they pay or we own it after going through the legal process. Never had to deal with that though. I've never had an unhappy customer. Most understand
I was waiting to make sure I had no leaks before changing it. It used to piss it out so fast that there was no point in changing more than the filter. Now there's no leaks so I felt it was time for new stuff
Maybe you should find out "why" the carrier bearings keep failing.. Unless your driveshaft is bent.. For some reason, I think you said before 'why', but idk. Oh and if you think the 5600 is noisy, you should listen to a G56 lol!
It's NOT a carrier bearing...but a center support or mid shift bearing....and I'm willing to bet that when the 1st one went out.the driveshaft was installed 180° out!
Dude; Concerning you get temps; Aluminum melts at 1220 degrees. 1500 means blown head gaskets, burned valves, or melted piston tops. Try to keep it at 1200 max. Just shift down and go up the hill a little slower. What's the hurry? I have over 3 million commercial miles with no serious breakdowns. I'm trying to give you sound advice, so you can be successful long term in your business.
That's correct in egts but coolant is also a big thing to keep the pistons from melting. My commonrail lived at 1350 for hours daily. When I broke a ring I pulled the engine apart and the pistons were perfect. I drove it from Cali to pa loaded like that just blowing oil but it made it and made 10k on the trip. I'm being told the 12 valve won't handle what my commonrail engine would though. The heads crack too 🤦♂️ Keep in mind my egts are actually LOWER at lower rpms. At 1400 to 1600 rpms I can hold speed better than at 2k+. That's due to the small he341 turbo. I make nothing but heat up at the top end due to the 9cm exhaust housing. What truck you running? Or trucks I'm assuming?
You should have to press the hanger bearing off not just tap it off with a hammer. I think the part of the driveshaft that the Hang bearing rides on must be wore out.
I've tried having it pressed on many times. It makes no difference honestly. Just makes it harder for me to change out when it fails. Loving my one piece shaft now. Never going to replace another one
Actually no. It's a work truck that travels far distances. You never want to add bigger turbos or anything over stock. The power level it's at is fine. No sense in adding extra stress to it. 1500 is very rare. My egts rarely hit 1200
I'm sure your right. All depends on how confident you are in your rig. Doesn't seem to be a problem. Interesting method for recycling tranny oil? Never seen that before.
Dot doesn't check if it's deleted unless the epa is there. Apparently they make stops at weigh stations but they always announce the dates. Mine's not an emissions truck. 07+ for egr and 2012+ for dpf. Whatever he was doing under there I still passed. Epa is who these guys have to worry about. I've never seen a deleted truck fail a level 1 for that. I'm sure someone blowing smoke has gotten caught and perhaps a couple other cases. I just haven't heard of any yet.
if your pyrometer is correct you start melting pistons at 1200 degrees, if you put used oil in your fuel you will destroy your fuel system very soon, read my comment below about drive lines,
On a commonrail you're right. You're not hurting the fuel system on a mechanical pickup truck though. 7.3 powerstroke and 12 valve Cummins engines were both made to run off anything. I know a few guys that do the same. Years later after 100s of thousands of miles they're still fine. Just make sure to change the filters out now often. I know it's time to change filters when fuel pressure goes lower on the gauge. Don't EVER do that on a semi or a commonrail truck. It won't end well. 1200 is what they say but that's always been a bit low. You can run 1500+ for about 30 seconds and let off and be fine when you're empty. I personally know guys who run 1800+ for a little while. That's a bit high for me though. 40 seconds or more of that and there go some pistons😂 My commonrail truck I ran 1300 to 1350 towing full time in 6th gear. That engine died at 438k from an injector failure(mind you I've only ever run diesel in that engine, no oil or any other bs). Idrove it 5k miles home from Cali with a trailer even with 1 broken compression ring. The pistons were in perfect shape. When I'm towing with the 12 valve I keep the alert at 1250 but I'll hold 1300 to 1350 for 10 seconds tops anymore. I occasionally hit 1400. I know it's alright but the voice in the back of my head tells me to leave it be😂😂
@@CPSteveMiller i make my living off of guys like you, cant wait till it bites you in your pocket book, its the only way you ever learn, fleets that blended the used oil into the fuel always had injector issues, long before any electronic engines ever came around, but i do wish you the best of luck, just hope you dont harm others with your repair processes
You don't make a living off of guys like me because I do all my own work. Guys like me don't pay a shop😂 Actually I had my own shop and mobile business. Just couldn't stand hiring people. Especially right now when nobody wants to work. I ended up taking home more money doing this than I did before. And I get better write offs. I'm the one who did the engine swap on the truck and I plan to do another one next year after I get everything dialed in. Only next time I want a nice painted engine. This one's just a temporary until I find a nicer one. Don't worry about me. I've been through putting these engines through their paces. 1300 degrees ain't going to melt a piston. And even if it ever blows up, engines are 1500 to 2k all day in my area and only takes a weekend to swap. But at 240k miles on this engine it has plenty of life left.
@@elijahrose7913 RUclips, stocks, and other side work with the truck here locally. I don't have high expenses at all tbh. RUclips lately has been paying 75% of my home bills while the transport business pays to keep itself going and all the extra stuff I do. If I decided to live a normal life I'd only need 2500 bucks a month tops to pay for everything. I just love hauling stuff. Got lucky and realized that hauling can make money if done right😂
Dumping waste oil (or any non taxed fuel) into your fuel tank is tax evasion. Really wouldn’t be saying that on camera. Expensive ticket especially in a commercial vehicle.
I am waiting to get a load out that way. I'm picking up a one piece in Minnesota. Just gotta get there first😂 I'm headed to California throughout the weekend.
1500 is fine only in short bursts. Holding over 1350 for extended periods of time will melt pistons. I used to tow at 1350 all day in my commonrail. Someone made mention the 12 valve won't handle that though so I keep it to 1200. I'll do 1300 to 1400 for maybe 5 seconds. This is a throwaway engine though. Working on building a nicer one for next year

Exactly! Why do maintenance in a truck stop parking lot, when you were at home for 2 weeks.....lol..not too smart..repairs I can see doing them on the road, if need be....but not normal maintenance!
@@davidlastoria3341 Tf are you talking about? 🤦♂️ Y'all so lazy like sorry I'd rather spend my home time with my family. Y'all complain so much idk how you guys survive out here🤣🤣 I'll do work wherever. Damn whiners 🙄 "not smart" shut up and get back to work 😒
Amazing Steve ! Good job !
Lmaooo its number 69!! Lmao 🤣 what are the odds
Did anybody see that carter express 4:52,it was the truck that was red and the trailer is white. it says carter express!
nice working truck
Noticed you took the front drive axles out. Did something break or was it to help with fuel mileage ??
Front pumpkin is shot. It still spins but makes a hell of a noise. I'll fix it after I get free spin hubs. Until then, I'm enjoying having 2lo for parking big trailers
@@CPSteveMiller I did a free spin hub conversion on basically the same truck in 2008, the truck was brand new then, what a difference it made..the front end is still together and working fine, the conversion was super easy..
Don't leave us hanging! You must tell us what happened with burning the oil in your fuel tank.
Nothing lol it just burns like it always does 😂
Lol that old 12v will eat anything combustible.... he will just have a dark fuel filter at service time....no harm in fact the pump and injectors like the added lubricity. Diesel shops have been draining 11 gallons of oil and dumping them right into the saddle tanks forever on over the road trucks before the days of the DPF and DOC catalyst of course.
Be carful had a good friend use used atf all the time and got an inspection they thought it was off road diesel. Needless to say 1500$ fine
You should post your trip miles and fuel economy, wonder that that 12v averages on different weight loads.
Same! I want a gearvender but so hard to justify the cost in savings
Grate vida shame in the UK we can't run old engine and gear oils in our fule 😒
A bit to watching your channel great content!! Watching for 3 months now.... Is your truck rated as a 2500 factory 10,000 gvwr but with a dually 3500 rear end?? Thinking of doing that to me 2018.
Factory is 9000 for my year but yeah. Rear Axle weight and stability of a dually but with the low gvwr of the single wheel.
@@CPSteveMiller Go get you a black door off a 3500 and accidentally scratch the VIN.
@@jimmartin7881 lmao 😂
Man she sounds sweet behind that stick shift 🤪
I love the sound. The commonrail sounded easy better and louder but I can't complain. With the same exhaust the commonrail would rattle everything within a mile of it😂 This is so tame in comparison
Rolling brick for sure
What's causing you to lose carrier bearring so often?
Could be a number of reasons. I have a one piece shaft I just need to go pick it up
What did they do with all the items inside that were not secure?
Good Morning Yall
Hey above time For one piece drive shaft . 👍
Curious as to why your doing an oil and trans fluid change during a run and not before the load?
I was waiting to make sure I had no leaks before changing it. It used to piss it out so fast that there was no point in changing more than the filter. Now there's no leaks so I felt it was time for new stuff
Oh gotcha. Love the content keep on trucking!
What part of Missouri was ya in? I'm located in rolla mo.
I don't even remember😬
Does your commercial insurance cover cargo and automobile mine does , I’m thinking about local weekend jobs
Yes both
I live in delaware. Is there work around that area or in the Carolinas or like Atlanta
Doubtful but I'm not sure. I can hardly ever stay northeast. Everything goes west and keeps me out there running in circles.
Surprised you didn't give you a ticket for her your wheels outside of the fenders on the rear axle
Apparently most don't care. My mudflaps cover the whole back of the tire. He didn't mention it at all
Not enough money to deal with dot in trucking.. money racket
Do u have a cdl
With rv transport?
That’s a mechanic set up truck
Maybe you should find out "why" the carrier bearings keep failing.. Unless your driveshaft is bent.. For some reason, I think you said before 'why', but idk. Oh and if you think the 5600 is noisy, you should listen to a G56 lol!
Too much effort. Could be anything. Just get a new one piece and never worry again😂
It's NOT a carrier bearing...but a center support or mid shift bearing....and I'm willing to bet that when the 1st one went out.the driveshaft was installed 180° out!
@@100Aces driveshaft only goes together one way. 180 out is impossible. There's one tooth only that's a double tooth
@@100Aces Do explain the difference between carrier bearing and center support bearing...
@@geriatricginger a carrier bearing supports the axle inside the DIFFERENTIAL! You have 2 carrier bearings and 2 pinion bearings.
Dude;
Concerning you get temps;
Aluminum melts at 1220 degrees.
The heads crack too 🤦♂️
Keep in mind my egts are actually LOWER at lower rpms. At 1400 to 1600 rpms I can hold speed better than at 2k+. That's due to the small he341 turbo. I make nothing but heat up at the top end due to the 9cm exhaust housing.
What truck you running? Or trucks I'm assuming?
@@CPSteveMiller Cummins rated these for 1350. That's 1350 all day long. Can go higher in bursts. I've seen 1800.
1500°, time for less fuel, and, or more air.
Actually no. It's a work truck that travels far distances. You never want to add bigger turbos or anything over stock. The power level it's at is fine. No sense in adding extra stress to it. 1500 is very rare. My egts rarely hit 1200
Hi Steve why is the guy taking so long to get parts for his truck
Your hitch looks like it is going to rip off the truck.
What?
Filter the oil wit paint filter 🤔
Lmao
I would have declined that load. Big red flag going down the road.
That's an easy load lol I'm not going to make any money turning down easy high paying loads and taking cheap loads 😂
I'm sure your right. All depends on how confident you are in your rig. Doesn't seem to be a problem.
Interesting method for recycling tranny oil? Never seen that before.
@@igorsanchez408 I have a mechanical engine so it's fine. I don't recommend that to other people
Where are the mega flares doooood
I'm still looking 😂😂
It’s called oil seepage, not leak.
Sweating horsepower🤷♂️🤣
Why do you keep going threw carrier bearings
Idk. I have a new 1 piece driveshaft I'm going to pickup next couple of weeks
How much did you make for this load
It came out to 2.01 per mile. That's one of the higher paying "power only" loads sadly. $3,000 gross.
Wonder what people gonna say about be deleted now?
Dot doesn't check if it's deleted unless the epa is there. Apparently they make stops at weigh stations but they always announce the dates. Mine's not an emissions truck. 07+ for egr and 2012+ for dpf. Whatever he was doing under there I still passed. Epa is who these guys have to worry about. I've never seen a deleted truck fail a level 1 for that. I'm sure someone blowing smoke has gotten caught and perhaps a couple other cases. I just haven't heard of any yet.
@@CPSteveMiller yeah I know, I was talking about the delete haters out here
if your pyrometer is correct you start melting pistons at 1200 degrees, if you put used oil in your fuel you will destroy your fuel system very soon, read my comment below about drive lines,
On a commonrail you're right.
Congrats on the passed inspection. You provide a few haters wrong. Keep doing what you do.
Hell I've had 2200 degrees on my 96 up a few passes!
12v swapped a 3rd gen facelift?
It's an 04 with an 06 front clip. Yes, 12 valve. It wasn't hard to do

Dumping waste oil (or any non taxed fuel) into your fuel tank is tax evasion. Really wouldn’t be saying that on camera. Expensive ticket especially in a commercial vehicle.
How is it tax evasion? If you bought the oil and the oil was taxed to begin with?
You are correct. It's not tax evasion
Road tax on the fuel
👍
It’s just a playhouse 🤷🏻♂️
Maybe time to buy a new driveline and keep that POS for a spare! May never need it!
I am waiting to get a load out that way. I'm picking up a one piece in Minnesota. Just gotta get there first😂 I'm headed to California throughout the weekend.
When I pick it up I'm returning both those carrier bearings. I want my money back😂
Sweet! Best of luck till then! Travel safe!!
1500°is way to hot you get any more you will ruin that engine
1500 is fine only in short bursts. Holding over 1350 for extended periods of time will melt pistons. I used to tow at 1350 all day in my commonrail. Someone made mention the 12 valve won't handle that though so I keep it to 1200. I'll do 1300 to 1400 for maybe 5 seconds. This is a throwaway engine though. Working on building a nicer one for next year
