Aaron Paul is majestic here, simply put. I remember I didn't like him in the first half of Season 1, too young, too bland, too stereotypical, by the end of the season he looked like he was searching for something while portraying Jesse and he just found it, from there it gave us some of the best episodes in BB: "Half-Measures", "End Times", "Confessions", one Emmy every season. Breaking Bad Jesse is probably the best written, best developed tragic mask in show entertainment history and one of the best in post-modernity as a whole.
The brilliance of Bryan Cranston's acting here is that he plays it all at once like he's telling the truth, he's actively working, and like hes so far gone that he didn't even realize he was working him. The hug could be him coldly knowing this is the best way to work Jesse in this moment, it could be an apology for everything he's put Jesse through, it could be him realizing he's become the bad guy, it could be him thinking this idiot is so far off base and HE'S so far gone. He plays the moment as just "Whoa. This is a lot." And whatever emotion you want to think he's feeling you can lay it on yourself.

He has a lot of nerve being pissed off at Hank for beating him senseless after that fake call incident…. Aside from the fact that he is a meth manufacturer, murderer and knows Walt, who has children and a family is a murderous drug kingpin, it’s the fact that they brought Marie into this, almost gave Hank a heart attack over concern for his wife and that they essentially implied that they would potentially use her as collateral and kill her if Hank attempted to further interfere with their business…. How the hell do you think a DEA agent and loving husband would react knowing you are involved in a dirty ploy like that….. Glad Jesse learned his lesson when he found out Walt is more than willing to harm people (Brock) that people close to him care about to get what he wants and keep the fun going.
Aaron Paul was just SO good in this show, he’s so good an actor anyway, he was also amazing in the last season of Westworld, all he needs is good material and he takes it to amazing places. He was easily the heart of breaking bad for me, those eyes are fantastic
Jesse did not know about Jane event before he flipped on Walt, so that is incorrect. Walter said about this only after Hank died. Brock's poisoning is a desperate attempt, because Jesse already flipped on Walt towards Gus. So both of your statements are wrong, Jesse is the flip king. Him and Skyler basically was used in S5 as a plot device for things to go south for Walt, otherwise he would be getting away with it. All that, suction and magnet idea of Jesse was super out of character as well, to make viewers sympatize with him.
Dude...do you not pay attention to obvious continuity???? Its been established in the first season that the show takes place in 2008 and it runs over the course of just two years. The first episode literally showed and explained Walter's 50 years old cause it shows his birthday breakfast. The show ended on or near his birthday again at 52, so yes😊 it took 5 years to make the show. But that doesn't mean the characters or plotlines are in sync with our real life calendar 🤣🤷♂️
