This gem of a podcast is destined to become a future Master Class. Matt is truly one of the best P/P printers in the world and Taylor Mahoney is equally, an incredible silver gelatin printer. I highly recommend anyone interested in these historical processes to look them up in Flagstaff and take advantage of their impeccable skills.

Taking photos is fun, it gets me outside for experiences. But I decided to do art fairs this year, and seeing my images printed on large metal and acrylic really brings all the work I have put in feel finished. Beyond that, it's the reaction from people coming into my booth at a fair and really enjoying the images. I think that gives me more joy than anything else. I think all photographers need to print some of their images. Just my opinion. The lines he was talking about in the GFX camera is Phase Detect sensor lines. I run into it when shooting IR, even in the raw files. Kolari Vision has a tutorial about how to get rid of them using Topaz Denoise AI.

Hey Rob, I agree that we should print more! I'd even say if you can do it in a non-commercial way it can still be quite satisfying. BTW, using Topaz for super contrasty images still does not eliminate all of the sensor lines on an IR image, unfortunately!

@@MattPayne Do you know much about Phase detect sensor lines? I never had them in my Sony A7r full spectrum but then when I got my A7riv full spectrum, they show up. Not in every image but that may be due to the different filters. Mostly in the higher nm filter range like the 720 or 830. Is it due to the higher number of pixels between the cameras?

@@robtt27 Good question! I wish I knew the answer because they are annoying on my A7R4 as well!

Those are some stunning prints. Very cool discussion about something I didn't really know anything about. Flagstaff is such a cool town, but agree that it is a pricy place to live! Also, Matt has a pretty great last name, just missing a T haha

Subtitles with moving colour are seriously annoying. Otherwise an excellent podcast
