- "What is Atheism?" is the next big question on ELI10. Our host Meghnad is joined by his fellow podcaster friend, who he also refers to as a 'modern day philosopher', Vijayendra Mohanty, A.K.A. It was an interesting conversation. I was initially looking for this video on your Meghnerd channel and I was not previously subscribed to this channel, I didn't receive any notification. But now I am and looking at the other videos, I find the discussions very interesting. Listening to you three was like a brainstorming session. I used to identify myself as gnostic atheist but since last 8 months I am more inclined towards agnostic atheism.
"...prove that God doesn't exist" is a type of NEGATION.
*NEGATIONS* are inherently unprovable claims. It gets even difficult when we talk about abstract concepts like *God* .
•For NEGATION to be proved, the definition of such things like God should be defined properly. And then it should be addressed logically.
Eg. Lets take definition as "God is Omnipotent all-powerful being"
So to address it logically it can be asked...
"Can god create a rock that he can't lift?"
Logical questions like these can tell you there can't be such being.
Atheism being equated to a religion is simply paradoxical, if not funny.
On the one hand, religion is a political tool for the systemic control/oppression of the "others." It fully depends, for its existence, on the indoctrination of extraordinary unfalsifiable claims through repetitive mind exercise called spirituality, repetitive tongue exercise called prayers, hymns, songs, and chants, and/or some other practice, all of which are aimed at making gullible people "believe" in (a) supernatural being(s)/spirits/chakras/souls/ghosts/etc. without questioning the enterprise that makes the claim.
On the other hand, atheism is a political tool for a liberation from systemic control/oppression facilitated by religions and godmen by means of rejecting their extraordinary unfalsifiable claims and putting the burden of proof on the claimants to present sufficient evidences that can, then, be scientifically evaluated and peer reviewed.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidences. And, I, for one, may acknowledge the existence of (a) god(s) if presented with scientifically verifiable extraordinary evidences proportionate to the weight of the claim. However, even then, let alone following, I won't even give a damn about the supernatural being(s) because I am fully convinced that the "god(s)" in question has one or more or all of the following attributes, making it/them unworthy of being followed:
a) is/are powerless to change anything about reality;
b) is/are unjust and cruel beyond my level of acceptance;
c) is/are not sufficiently intelligent;
d) has/have neither looked back nor cared about any creature ever since "the creation";
e) has/have too many inconsistencies in their narratives;
f) their storybooks are on many occasions highly questionable;
and many more.
Asking if 'Atheism is a Religion' is like asking if being an "Illiterate is a profession"!
Better analogy would be "Being Jobless is a profession!"

Atheism: As long as theists fail to demonstrate that their preferred god exists, we see no reason to believe what theists believe.

I'm 21, i was where Meghnad sir is currently at at 19. Which means I regarded the power of Universe as God, if big bang created the universe then that was god to me. Now I'm a complete atheist. I think the final string which was holding me back was my personal emotions. Growing up I've read a lot of hinduism stuff and puranas so ig I didn't want it to die. Unless I realized I can still enjoy those stories without having to force fit any term anywhere.
The bhagat Singh put out the same point which masoom pointed out that decision of whether you're an atheist or theist will be decided when you're in your bad phase.

For interested readers, I just learnt about contraposition.
If you are faithful, you are good; If you are not good, you are not faithful.
It has no bearing on whether or not you are good when you are not faithful.
Sicne they started talking about logic, I wanted to make sure that they are making logically sound arguments.

Atheist: Not a Theist.
(The clue is in the name).

See I am an agnostic atheist
..But there is a problem with the argument "prove this only then I will believe"..We often say that math is the language of the universe...And we know in any reasonable mathematical system there will always be true statements that cannot be proved ..(Gödel's Incompleteness theorem) ..So if by our pattern recognition ability we somehow manage to know about the existence of GOD.. Would we ever be able to prove that?
Yes but we choose axioms ( based on "natural" Behavior) and build math on it. So math isn't absolute, but if those axioms can be assumed to be true ( which they are since it's based on natural thinking) , then those theorems have to be true by definition.But unlike math, the concept of God is neither natural nor can you build theorems abt it, so I don't see how it compares to math.
You can build logically sounding models for just about anything. The question of supernatural and God and creator is not mathematical, its should be demonstrable by the claims it is adhered to

who need material explanation of Allah who created material.
Who's concept about this world and destiny is unclear.

An atheist is a person who don't look into the only true religion because imperialists, socialist and colonialist etc indoctrinated him to believe him into the myths that this true religion is associated with terrorism, backwardness, who suppress women, who kills non-believers wherever they find them, etc - see without even mentioning the name "Islam" you 🫵 unconsciously linked it with islam.
