This idea was a long time coming. I remember commenting about breaks and deals with yourself and your personal ethics and integrity about the daily uploading. I am pretty sure I told you how smart you are and how you would come up with the correct decision, and now you finally have. Chess isn't supposed to be a prison sentence. And honestly, it isn't much fun watching you suffer when you are just forcing yourself to play, anyway. This format of playing when you are feeling it really is a good call. Oh yeah, Hell yeah, that was a sweet win. Year 2 is going to be a lot of fun for all of us.
I started chess in January and am currently at 1250. It’s not high but my progress has been steady because I take breaks and never drop too far in my elo. This has allowed me to enjoy the game and continue playing without major frustrations. You made the right choice

I still had Day 364 to watch but as soon as i saw the title to this one I had to scoot straight over to catch up with the very latest. First of all, that was a great game where you strategically slaughtered your higher-rated opponent - which is yet more evidence that your chess strength is much higher than your rating number would suggest. And, of course, we know that the rating has recently been taking many hits, nearly always from those occasions when you've felt forced to play even when your heart wasn't really in it. Very rarely have you suffered losses when you've been fired up and really in the right mood for shuffling them pieces round the board. So, I'm 100% confident that you're making the right decision to cut back on this daily schedule and to move towards a more relaxed 'once a week but possibly with some more days if, and only if, I'm in the right frame of mind' schedule. I think this will be good for you in a general sense and I strongly suspect it will also turn out to be really good for your rating (especially if the reduced schedule enables you to throw in more 15 minute games). Looking forward to following you on the same journey and same destination as before, but taking a slightly different route for now. And, lastly, I wanted to say that I hope your cat's health problem turns out to be not too serious and quickly takes a turn for the better. Take care!
