no discussion of the asaka variation, 3...Nb8. assuming it's left out because it's above S tier and will get a whole video for itself soon? looking forward to it sam, love you
This video felt shorter than the other tier lists probably because there were a lot more good variations than bad ones. Personally, I don’t mind facing the Marshall but most of my opponents play the Steinitz
I remember analysing this Indian defense a little while ago and remember finding that white was very frequently stumbling into the following line 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 a6 4. Ba4 Bc5 5. O-O d6 6. c3 b5 7. Bc2 Bg4 8. d3 Nge7 9. Nbd2 O-O 10. Re1 Kh8 11. Nf1 f5 if white wants to play the c3 d4 plan it's better to play c3 immediately rather than castling first so that black isn't in time to play bg4

As a ruy lopez player id say the best variation against the ruy lopez is the alekhine lol
I play exchange as white and arkhangelsk as black.
To me, the marshall is good, but its extremely pathetic to just play for a draw unless youre a grandmaster looking for that result.
