There are so many learning technologies around these days, but this looks revolutionary. I think I need Nearpod in my life!
It's definitely one of my favorites! Very powerful tool.
Thank you for your video. I have used this program for the digital citizenship mys district requires, but I can see how this would be a great resource for instruction, especially for teachers that don't want to be on camera.
So glad you found it helpful!

Terrific! Concise. SO helpful.
So glad it was helpful, Anne!
My school had the option of going LIVE with students. I had used NEARPOD in the past but never through distance learning. I found that is was one of the best tools to use becase
1) You can require more student participation.
2) There is lots of variety to the lessons.
3) Videos: I like playing short videos and they are playing the video THROUGH THEIR DEVICE. Big difference than trying to screen cast a video.
4) Google Slide Add on: I always found the NEARPOD site a little clunky for editing lessons. Now you can add the great features while editing from Google Slides. Much easier IMO.
5) It makes creativity more accessible. You want to use the 3D maps and Quiz tools. I like the Polls myself. Never tried the post-it note page but I will now.
Hi David, thanks for your comment! I agree that the add-on is AWESOME!
Thank you for reasonable temporal and sequential pacing.
You're welcome!

I want to start recording videos for youtube myself, and was wondering what softwares you used to create your videos. It is wonderful you shared under the video. Thank you!
It's all in this other video: ruclips.net/video/qgtBjdu_usc/видео.html

You're very welcome, Tasha!
This is great. Thank you.
Thank you, Johnson!
Thank you so much for these videos! I use them all the time and they're very helpful! They're appropriately paced, outline plusses and minuses, as well as cool features. I also like that you show things from the student perspective as often as possible. Question: Can I use Nearpod and Pear Deck in the same set of Google Slides?
Thanks for your feedback, Thomas! No, you won't be able to run Nearpod and Pear Deck at the same time because both require that you login through their interface in order to use them.
@@NextGenTeacher I'm a 7th grade math teacher in an urban district. I've started a small summer math camp for kids in my town to provide some math support over the summer. It also gives me a test bed for EdTech; I'm just trying to be ready for the fall and whatever that brings. Again, thank you so much for these videos! I've watched several and they're super helpful!
Thank you!
You're welcome, Anita!
Thanks for your great efforts
You're very welcome! Glad it was helpful!

Great tutorial.
Thank you, Anita!!
You’re my favorite!
Ha, thank you Jacquelyn! Thanks so much for your support!
Love your videos. Best PD every! Do you have a video on how to provide feedback to your students using Nearpod?
Thanks, Rachel! I don't, but I will be putting out some content about using digital tools to provide feedback this year for sure!
Excelent explanation! ;)
Thanks! 😃
Thank you so much
You're welcome, Adiba!
Your videos have been a breath of fresh air. Clear, concise, and beyond helpful!
When adding Chrome extensions and creating logins for other software/sites like Nearpod, should I be using my school gmail account (attached to Google Classroom) or my personal gmail account? Does it even matter? Thank you.
Thank you! Yes, use your school account. The only issue might be if your school doesn't allow you to access sites/add-ons.
Nicely put together.
Thank you!
Great job sir.
Thank you!
Thanks for sharing
You're very welcome!
Thank you 🙏
You're very welcome Elsie!
Your video was very detailed and informative. However, I need to know how to use Nearpod with zoom. If you could do a video about it, it would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Suzette, I show that in this video: ruclips.net/video/_wsF9u1B0bU/видео.html&t=
This is a great resource- thanks! I have a question- at 2:00 or so you talk about clicking a button to filter out lessons you have to pay for- I just spent the last 5-10 minutes or so scouring the site to find that "free" filter- I thought maybe they moved it or something? But it's not on the site anymore where you show it- not when I pull it up anyway. Do you know what happened to that? Thanks again- a friend of mine directed me to nearpod and your video is extremely helpful. Thank you so much for making this video!
Hi, yeah, that's because they changed around the way their payment plan works. Now it's based on storage capacity and number of students: nearpod.com/pricing
Thanks for this informative video
You're welcome, Anna!
You covered it way too well....nice way to explain.it is easy to understand and follow.Pls share more tutorials to support online learning. Thanks
Thanks for the kind words! Definitely subscribe and keep an eye out for new tutorials every week on my channel!
Thanks for such a step by step introduction to Nearpod. Do teachers generally use this as the "lesson" they are teaching and then students work on it independently? Wasn't sure if I clicked "live" if students follow me on screen but also open up on their end and follow that way. I appreciate your reply and help! Thank you!
It depends: you can launch and teach lessons live or set them up to be student-paced. In both cases, students would want to have their own tab open so they could interact with the slides. I typically have students split their screens so they can see the screen I'm sharing as well as the screen they need to edit. Best of luck!
looks quite cool
It is!
Sam I absolutely love your tutorials. What would you say is the big difference between nearpod and peardeck?
Hi Lyn, Nearpod offers more functionality, but Pear Deck allows you to add interactivity to slides you've created yourself. In Nearpod, the Slides would show up after slides you've created and are more like a template, if that makes sense. I'd say Nearpod is the more powerful tool of the two by a long-shot.
Thanks for the sharing the info regarding Nearpod. It was wonderful. I have a doubt.I could not complete a live session in one period. How can I continue the next day , without getting the responses of the previous day, lost? pls clarify
Hi Girija, Nearpod should still be saving student responses even if they don't finish.
Awesome.
Thanks!
Sam, Great video on Nearpod. I was curious how you recorded your video image that way you did (no border, just your image right into your teaching about the content).
Hi Mark,
A lot of people ask me about this, so I actually recently put out a video about how I do it! ruclips.net/video/qgtBjdu_usc/видео.html
The software I use is called Screenflow if you're interested in checking it out here (full disclosure, this is an affiliate link, so The New EdTech Classroom would receive a portion of the sale if you were to decide to move forward with a subscription!): telestream.8bx6ag.net/c/2242743/352742/4900
Thanks so much! That really answered my basic questions. Can you tell me how you made the cool background image during your video?

@@NextGenTeacher Thank you! I will look into this as I get used to virtual teaching.
Very informative video..Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much for all of your lessons! I'm learning so much! I have a question, if you were going to only use one of the two, would it be nearpod or peardeck? I am trying to keep for overwhelming my students with a bunch of new technology. I teach 9th grade Health. Thanks in advance for you input!
Hi Anna, I get this question a lot, and hate answering b/c I like them both :)
But if you really had to force me to choose, I'd go with Nearpod simply because it has more interactivity features, and I like their pre-built lessons.
@@NextGenTeacher Thank you SO much for taking the time to answer!! I just sent the link to your channel to on Vice Principal. Your videos are VERY helpful! Thank you again!
I am so bad with technology lol. This is soo cool though!! I have to learn it
Baby steps are key, Sandra! Definitely best to start slow and add to your suite of apps as you get more comfortable! :)
Constructive mindset...I just need more practice with technology in order to get better💡!
Thanks
You're welcome!
Great content! What program did you use to record yourself? Could you do a tutorial on how to make a recording like this? I think this would appeal to my students! (For some types of content). Ty
Done! ruclips.net/video/qgtBjdu_usc/видео.html
Thank you for all of your incredibly helpful videos. I'm wondering how you grade an interactive nearpod? Participation? Homework? Do you have a rubric?
Hi Danielle, I personally just give participation grades for the activities in Nearpod. Then I use a rubric when students create a project after learning the content.
Thank you!
Hi
Thanks for the great information. Very helpful. If you share the Nearpod lesson you created in Google Classroom can you still keep it in the"Teacher paced" format. If students look a head and see the assignment but you do not want them to start until the day/time you are ready?
Yes, teacher-paced versus student-paced is based only on the way you choose to launch your lesson.
Great explanation of NearPod! I have a question.. how can I show my presentation while still showing myself or having my students remain visible on the screen as I am demonstrating my presentation?
Split your screen!
Thanks for the great tutorial!!! Does Nearpod export grades to Google Classroom like Edpuzzle?
Not that I'm aware of, unfortunately, but they are always upgrading features, so it's worth keeping an eye out!
Another very helpful, concise video. I really like how you show what this tool looks like for student and teacher use. Keep up the great work!
Thank you for your support, Ileen!
I have been following your video tutorials for 2 months now. I am preparing for fall of 20/21 school year. I am going to have the opportunity to learn more during summer remote learning. Which would you recommend for elementary students. Hyperdoc, Hyperdoc including nearpod lessons or Pear Deck? I'm looking for the simplest when it comes to navigating through website including the extension.
Hi Shantara, Thanks for your support!
Of those three options, by far the simplest is Nearpod because it doesn't require students to go to multiple websites, and has loads of pre-made lessons you can grab and use with your students. Hope that helps!
Great video! Thanks! Is it possible to create a lesson with Nearpod without any link to Newsela? Does it have to be linked to Newsela or it just depends on whether you included Newsela content in the Nearpod lesson?
Hi Acacia, Thanks for your question! Sure, you can make Nearpod lessons without the Newsela integration. It just go happens that the lesson I showed incorporated Newsela. You might want to check out this tutorial as well, because I cover some of the features of the Nearpod Add-On, which allow you to basically just add Nearpod elements to Google Slides you've already created (and it's free!). ruclips.net/video/jvpU2qPAt-k/видео.html
Thank you, this was great! Do you know if this would be user friendly for second graders to access in google classroom?
Hi Catherine! Absolutely! I just worked with a Kindergarten teacher who is using it. Take a look at the integration with Immersive Reader for lower grades, as well as all the pre-built lessons (you can filter by grade level). The think I like about Nearpod for lower grades is that everything is all in one place and students don't have to deal with link/document management.
Hello Sam, I am a beginner in Nearpod. I am loving it so far. Can Edpuzzle be added to Nearpod like NEWSELA?
Hey Ronda! Yeah Nearpod is super useful in the classroom :) Unfortunately you can't embed Edpuzzle into Nearpod.
