Level 95 Barb, yes still not even max level before season one will begin and they just neutered by build.

Imagine writing in the first paragraph, that you want people to play other builds then those based around the coreability. Then imagine nerfing the cooldown reduction making other abilities impossible to build around.
A build built around a non-Core skill would be the nichest of niche builds anyway. No rogue uses Dash or Shadowstep for the massive damage 🙄. Has blizzard even played their game?

We at Blizzard saw that 95% of humans were using their feet so we decided to make Feet less effective for moving around to encourage humans to find different ways to move around the world. Walk speed - 50% Running speed - 75%
Kinda stupid take lol yeah nerfs suck when they hit us with that shit but we were wayyyyy overtuned back then and they have also buffed since then and given us insane mechanics and chase uniques that trivialize any of those nerfs. And at least poe had end game that good players still finished after those nerfs. Where as blizzard nerfed a empty shell somehow making it echo HELLO for the next 25 years
I dunno man, maybe I'm just not meant to play these games anymore but when you started adding more things than the tri-fecta (crit chance, crit damage and damage) my head starts to hurt looking at all the flowcharts necessary to "play". Luckily there's Halls of Torment, which costs less than a cup of coffee.
@rotj4587 I've kind of got the same mentality. I prefer games that are simple to play, but have a high degree of difficulty. I think that's why I like NES games so much.
@rotj4587 That's the essence of art in my opinion. We have a tendency, as humans, when making art, to try to cram all the stuff we've learned and all the skills we've honed into a piece. But look at Bob Ross - he simplified his art to the point where he could make a great painting in 30 minutes. If you take a look at Michelin, they prefer clean dishes with components that accent each other and highlight their flavor and uniqueness. Simplicity is the ultimate art form.
I really loved D4 from the opening chapter but I hit a wall at level 30. I’m using the same 4 abilities, killing the same mobs running slow as hell across the other side of the map to do another story quest where I just kill some mobs. Got pretty boring fast.
Same. I had to force myself to beat the campaign, the core gameplay was so repetitive. I still have much more fun with D2. I feel like a moron for buying D4.
I think most of these nerfs "could" have been taken on the chin if they were backed up by interesting buffs to underused skills that would increase some build diversity in S1
I was legit on the fence about buying baulders gate and starfield and now blizzard has helped me with my deicision to buy them and dive into rpg goodness.
My main issue with the bone storm thing isn't even that its a non-minion build, but that its basically just more of the same. Bone build was already king by a mile.
Quick thing to note..idk why people seem to think bone storms a non minion thing..sadly its even better on minions too lol u can keep it up basically permanently you just like decrepify things and walk into them w ur minions
So they made it harder to survive, harder to kill monsters, monsters are stronger and even when you do survive and kill them, I get less XP….. Fabulous
And the enemies should be a hundred times more interesting to fight against. The Diablo 4 team seems to think that slower automatically means more tactical. No, I'm just doing the same thing for longer.
Disagree. We don't need more loot drops. Especially since I spend so much time having to go through and look at each item.. I already go through a lot of times and not even look at the loot and just sell it because it takes up so much time out of playing.
I’m confused why they didn’t address resource regeneration. Running out of your resource and having to use builder attacks to get it back holds so much of the fun back.
Asmongold nailed it. They could of slowed us down by making enemies more difficult with more mechanics to master or solve. Not by making us weaker and our cds longer
@raazazuul32 I know you guys all feel the pain as much as I do as someone that's been with blizzard games and once praised them over 2 decades long and now having to say things like that
They really amped up the crossplay and now instead of playing across platforms you can play across different game franchises. Truly one of the games of all time.
As as sorc main, I'm just done. I was *already* struggling to keep up with my friends in terms of damage and now it's just impossible *plus* my survivability has gone down the drain.
I had a Razerplate with 12100 thorns on it before the patch and now after the patch it has around 10100 Why would they do that, and there was no mention on nerfing the razerplate in the patch notes.
So they basically addressed all areas of the game that were at least "ok" and gave the players some fun and made them worse and the areas that were bad to begin with they did not even touch. Alright then. Good job.
D4 among all the other issues has too many dmg modifiers , Normal hit , critical, lucky hit , critical lucky hit , vulnerable damage , overpower damage , close damage , distant damage... You need a PhD in mathematics to understand the Dmg formulae Please do try and and review Last epoch :)
I didn't even understand how the barbarian can have 4 weapons at same time yet have tldiffrent attack for smash slash etc. I don't get it how all 4 weapons work together
The math isn't that difficult. It's the arbitrary rules that don't make any sense, so you can't follow the "logic". Last Epoch - the only game I beat entirely without a single alt-tab to check something online. Anything I needed to know to progress my char, the game taught it to me. And gave me the tools to work for my goals. A shining example of how it can be done with X times less money.
I don’t know about anyone else, but I personally can’t wait for Season 1 and the addition of a ton more quests asking me to light lamps and find enemy drops on opposite sides of the map. Season 2 will be “Season of the Tax” where they’ll introduce the receipts currency that you can turn in for W-4s and 1098s, which you can then take to Greed’s realm and get a Tax Return chest based on your tax bracket and the amount of gold you’ve collected for the week based on its source (questing, chests, mob loot, etc.). If you get the count wrong or you try to cheat the chest, your char gets put in jail for the rest of the season.
I had fun on release, and was giving the devs a huge benefit of the doubt with their higher than normal response to player feedback compared to other blizz games. Not so much anymore.
they couldn't change too much because Season 1 was created during development and they were afraid making deep changes would have big consequences on it. Personally I'm waiting for loot 2.0, affixes 2.0, Skill Trees 2.0, Paragon Boards 2.0, Dungeons 2.0, ... Diablo 4.5 in other words. They will have to hustle in the next 3 months because I'm sure the higher ups aren't too pleased with them.
Well the 3 main complaints I saw, were that leveling was super slow, that there was nothing to do at 100 and that sorcerer was too weak. I am so happy they fixed that
I also hate vulnerability as a mechanic but the problem isn't solved by nerfing it here. It's just fundamentally a terrible design. Even after the nerf vuln will still be just as required as before just with less damage. Nothing changes at all with builds Also it completely fucks over minion necro. Vuln was the only real effective way of getting them to deal even passable damage since they inherit 100% of vuln damage instead of the 30% of most other stats like crit damage.
As a sorc player, we've been booted to the shadow realm. Lower damage and longer CDs literally kill our builds. We already use like 3 defensive skills just to stay alive. And now we take even MORE damage... smh
@101RadioheadCovers spaced it. So even worse. Really not sure what class I'm going to play season 1 but honestly don't think it'll matter. I won't have fun regardless and will drop it in the first couple weeks. Hope to be proven wrong
I decided to skip D4 entirely, in order to have time to finally play Divinity Original Sin 2 for the first time before BG3 comes out. Looks like it was the right decision, DOS2 has been an incredible experience
These fixes have come about by a developer looking at a spreadsheet only and not so much listening to players. They see abilities that are not being used so buff them and can't help themselves nerfing abilities that are very powerful and popular. Why not just buff other abilities to match popular ones unless they consider them broken. Making leveling and grind longer so players stay longer in game, so they can sell you stuff, like season and battle pass.
Technically they fixed storage space since the drops are even worse now and you can't farm events on Helltides for the mystery chests, so there's no reason to keep most of the gear you get. So they did listen to our feedback.
As a necro player, I understand the nerf to bone spear, yet for some reason I still never beat Uber Lilith. I tried for hours couldn't beat her. Grinded probably 50+ tier 55+ NMD and never got the great rolls for equipment, only semi acceptable loot. Tried Lilith again and still got my ass beat. Yet here they are making not only Uber Lilith harder but the entire game harder. Like honestly how many people beat Uber Lilith? From everything I seen/read it was only content creators that have the time to grind for the perfect loot. Why can't we make it a bit easier for those of us that got to level 100 but didn't have perfect loot?
They want certain things to be different degrees of unachievable. In their mind, people looking for Uber Uniques are super hyped, logging in every day, chasing that carrot on a stick. But in reality, people either don't know or don't care.
"Now we are at the rock bottom, we can start fixing the game little by little, every 4 months." "omg you're right! then we don't have to work that hard anymore!"
Blizzard had one job Nerf a little the top meta builds abusing Lilith and buff the other builds to give player more options They did none. Broken builds can STILL kill Lilith with ease, shred/tornado, poison rogue and bone spear necro. And everything else sucks even more
The downside of all these nerfs also means that playing the eternal season (non-seasonal league) you're effectively gutted, so there's no reason to go back and play a character who might have gotten one of the "uber" uniques because you're 1/4th as strong on the eternal season than if you made a new character who could get the league mechanic.
Previous patch messed up drops and lots of people got extremely rare uniques like Shako and Grandfather, it didn't sit well with Blizz. It feels like they don't want you to go back to the old characters.
At about 6:30 you touch on an important problem: D4 has too many conditional variables. Vanilla WoW was good in that respect: it was complex enough, but the stats were mostly unconditional relative to each other. You could write a spreadsheet and theorycraft very accurately how different items and skills would affect your overall dps. It was fun. With D4, such a spreadsheet would be insanely complex, if not impossible because there are so many conditions and rngs.
Blizzard desperately needs to fire every "player-engagement metric" data guy. They have poisoned the company so badly and yet they're seemingly oblivious to the growing resentment and apathy towards their products.

It's kind of baffling to me that they keep making such sweeping BALANCE and ITEMIZATION changes without first FIXING RESISTANCES.
It doesn't make any damn sense
The speechlessness I just saw about teleport out of a dungeon increase from 3 to 5 seconds was literally priceless Diablo 4 SMH
I love the way they advertised and spoke about the game up to launch being so diverse in the ways you as the player will be able to play the game the way you want to play the game then every other week since launch there’s been almost nothing but nerf updates basically dictating how you actually need to play the game. Level 95 Barb, yes still not even max level before season one will begin and they just neutered by build.
I didn't even hit the paragon board my build (that I was following a guide for) was so weak..

I'm wasting time on W4 trying to farm uniques anyway. might as well stay put and see what another shenanigans Blizzard will do.
Good idea.
Same bro… same
Imagine writing in the first paragraph, that you want people to play other builds then those based around the coreability. Then imagine nerfing the cooldown reduction making other abilities impossible to build around.
Imagine making "core" abilities at all instead of just letting us play the game as we want
A build built around a non-Core skill would be the nichest of niche builds anyway.

I think that Diablo was elegant in its simplicity and all the conditional damage just makes it too complicated.

I am fine with making the enemy 10 times slower to kill, but the loot drop should be at least 20 times better.
And the enemies should be a hundred times more interesting to fight against. The Diablo 4 team seems to think that slower automatically means more tactical. No, I'm just doing the same thing for longer.
Enemies already are giant meat shield. Giving them even more health won't make the game harder it will just make it more boring and slow
Helltide feels like going to work now for half the reward. Fells bad man.
Disagree. We don't need more loot drops. Especially since I spend so much time having to go through and look at each item.. I already go through a lot of times and not even look at the loot and just sell it because it takes up so much time out of playing.
we don't need more loot, they just need fuck*ng delete the trash stat so we can get good loot
I’m confused why they didn’t address resource regeneration. Running out of your resource and having to use builder attacks to get it back holds so much of the fun back.

I also hate vulnerability as a mechanic but the problem isn't solved by nerfing it here. It's just fundamentally a terrible design. Even after the nerf vuln will still be just as required as before just with less damage. Nothing changes at all with builds

@@Niels741 who says he wasn't listening while doing something else?
looks like they're getting ready to introduce solutions to the cash shop for the problems they're creating
They must have borrowed the team from Bungie that claims to work on destiny
Technically they fixed storage space since the drops are even worse now and you can't farm events on Helltides for the mystery chests, so there's no reason to keep most of the gear you get. So they did listen to our feedback.

Done with D4 100%. Probably THE worst update to any major game ever. Def top 5 for sure.
