I found it interesting that sawsbuck was in the trailer, specifically in its autumn form in the wild. Previously sawsbuck found in the wild would only be in its summer form unless it was transferred from a past game.
The last game to have wild autumn sawsbuck was black 2 and white 2 which implies the return of seasons.
Of course this is speculation but I’d love to see seasons return.
Maybe that means we have seasons, or all of it's forms live in different areas?
@Accalia Tala Probably the second one. The Sawsbuck forms will most likely be like the new Tauros leaked forms, that change based on where you find them
If you look, it's later shown in it's summer form under a tree too! (when the trailer talks about riding the legendary pokemon)

The official website has much more detail on how Terastallization actually works. Any Pokemon can potentially have any Tera type. When they transform, they become their Tera type for the rest of the battle (it does NOT go away when switching out) and get strengths/weaknesses/STAB accordingly. However, if the Pokemon uses a move that matches its Tera type AND at least one of it's original types before transforming, it gets DOUBLE STAB. You can Terastallize any Pokemon once per battle. In the main game, you can not use this in every battle. Once it's used you must recharge the ability to use it
I personally think this is so amazing and is going to change competitively completely, and for the better. The amount of Pokemon that become viable with this is HUGE. Now you can have a Steel or Water type Avalugg, pure Ghost Froslass, a Normal type Shedinja. There are tactical applications as well, as with the PIkachu they showcased, it can change to flying to totally evade an incoming Ground type attack that would normally destroy it. It's got so much nuance and expands the range of usable pokemon and diversity of play styles. So hyped.
I now want a fighting type Mimikyu
I say for competitive they'll have to introduce a rule that only one pokemon is allowed terastallize. Otherwise it could make competitive unplayable
@@Smiley5z See, this is why I REALLY wish people would just go read the website. People have all these concerns for no reason. It says clearly on the official page that it can only be used once per battle, but lasts the whole battle.

Ehh tbf the type change is an okay idea at best but the way they executed it is very goofy.Its somewhat similar to mega evolutions and honestly not every new pokemon game requires a gimmick,they don't need to go down the sonic route becoming obsessed with gimmicks...
anyone notice at 4:15, there seems to be no more evolution screen because they showed noibat evolving in the overworld !
Obviously I don't know for sure, but I'm guessing they just cut the evolution cutscene from the trailer. To me it looks like there's a cut in the video right as noibat begins to evolve and then cuts back in once it's become Noivern... hopefully what I just said made sense

I’m actually thoroughly impressed with the design elements of the legends, even if they seem silly to some people. Koraidon, being prehistoric, can’t rely on anything but brute force to propel itself (Hence the use of its legs even though it still has the wheels) and Miraidon Propelling itself like it has some kind of energy (reminiscent to an engine and no longer having to use brute force to move) I also like that their tails swing underneath to form the rear wheel, and the front wheel was designed into its chest to begin with. Just all around good design elements to not make them feel cheesy.
Buuutttt why have wheels if you’re not going to use them??

@@HenryBenedictUSA that’s the thing though. They aren’t wheels. Remember that Koraidon represents past. The “wheels” are sacs that some lizards have so it’s literally just part of it’s body.

Quick fun fact: The Pokémon Fidough the new dog Pokémon is inspired by Portuguese regional Biscuits and if I’m not mistaken it’s called “Biscoitos de Azeite Alentejanos” or in English Olive Oil Biscuit from Alentejo. And if u want to search it I think u better search using his original name in Portuguese: “Biscoitos Alentejanos”.

that may be what it evolves into, but I'm pretty sure it's just raw dough. like, it's described as being soft and squishy, the website says it causes things to grow with the yeast in its breath, it's the color of uncooked dough, and even has the finger twist and oil on it like it would have when you put it in a dark bowl to rise before making stuff with it. and being the starting stage, it'd make sense for it to go from a dough to a fully cooked critter when it evolves, which is where your biscuit would make the most sense.

I just rewatched the trailer. The wheels on Koraidon are motionless. They gave him wheels, then said, "What if... he *ran*?" This isn't a real criticism, it just looks a little funny to me. But, yeah, Miraidon was the cooler one from the start.
‘Let’s make a Pokémon bike!, we can design it like a bike!’ ‘Oh cool so the wheels will move when the Pokémon moves!’ ‘No, why would we do that?’
I’m assuming it’s similar to the idea the filestones use, have the wheels but doesn’t have power so it needs to be powered by foot
Im rooting for violet and have been from the start but I love that Koraidon looks alive in the world, using it's hands and legs to run and swim, whilst Miraidon just kinda chills. I love Miraidon so much but It looks like it's going to be easier to become emotionally attached to Koraidon.

Thr hunting just turned exponentially harder now, if you want to catch a specific shiny of a specific Tera Type. ^^
I think sooner or later there will be a way to have this changed by an NPC or item like in the Sw/Sh DLC. At least I hope so, otherwise shiny hunting will be very exhausting
lol this trailer makes me appreciate the legendaries more. it’s interesting because it looks like you’ll get them at the beginning of the game, which is a REALLY sick idea in my opinion.

for me legendaries are supposed to be about mystery and exploration - something rare and mythical. Getting it as a bicycle early on ruins the aspect and connection a legendary should give you.
I think that’s a terrible idea. It kinda downgraded the value of legendary Pokémon in my opinion if they’re practically handed to you at the start of the game. It doesn’t make them feel “legendary.”

I still prefer Koraidon, even after seeing their ride forms. I like the fact it actually is running on all fours, swimming in the water, climbing the walls, and gliding through the air with those antennae turning into wings. Yes the wheels don't wheel, BUT on the website they say that the wheel-like sac when it swims acts like a floatation device. That also takes the whole Past v Future theme between the two in consideration as well.
Not to say Miraidon doesn't have its own appeal, though it just feels like the typical Handglider look in the air, and Motorbike on the ground.
In terms of new pokemon, I am more excited about Fidough. Such a cute boi! ... or girl! The one thing I do like them saying is that the game has THREE Grand Stories. The Main Pokemon Gym plot, and 2 others, AND you can go between them as well. So you know I'ma take Sprigatito to the Ice type Gym first for the challenge of it. XD
Yes! Koraidons 'sac' reminds me of the ones spinosaurus had and since theyre my favorite dino its definitely scarlet for me
Yeah, those wheels on koraidon arent wheels but air sacs, so of course they dont rotate. It reminds me of the air sacs that frogs and birds have.

I think both Legendaries have pros and cons. Koraidon uses the muscle of his whole body to propel itself forward and he vividly expresses himself while Miraidon just looks badass and lets the engine do its thing and gives you a cool look without showing much motion. They really are polar opposites and I quite like that they kept up the consistency of the design and have Koraidon's wheels not spin. I think Koraidon looks much cooler in the water working that body and in the air with the feathers flowing in the wind while Miraidon definitely is the cooler one on land. I was skeptical of the bike theme but I think they have done a good job with them and utilized every part of their design.
I've already decided on getting Scarlet before this trailer as I'm a huge fan of history and tradition in general but my god Koraidon's cute MREOW noises sold me another 300 times on it. I didn't like Miraidon too much at first but now that I've seen this I'm appreciating him much more and both Legendaries already have their place in my heart.
I just like Koraidon because of the colorful feathery design he has. Absolutely love birds and bird pokemon so Im biased. I tend to just like pokemon based on cuteness and miraidon is one of those more "Cool" looking mons. Nothing wrong with that just not my preference.

Exactly, I think it’s more consistent to have Koraidon’s wheels not move since they’re more like a throat pouch and not true wheels. I like it’s design.

It’s so weird Koraidon still runs on all fours even if he already has wheels. Miraidon looks way cooler as a motorcycle. I’m buying Violet now for sure because I don’t wanna ride Koraidon running on all fours whilst having wheels.

i get that Koraidon represents the “past” that’s why his bike look is not motorized like Miraidon who represents the “future,” but they could have designed Koraidon better to not run on all fours all the time in land travel mode. like a tribal dirt bike. to keep the theme of the “past” relevant, perhaps for the initial first-time ride, it runs with its legs and transitions to no legs. or perhaps, once in a rare while it kicks the ground to propel itself forward. kinda like how you push with your feet once in a while when you ride a skateboard or a scooter. but Koraidon should be, FOR THE MOST PART, just using its wheels because that is the concept. what’s the point of it being a bike when it’s still running with four legs? that’s just FUCKIN’ weird. bad decision by Pokemon company. very terrible.

So eeverytthing on the wall behind Utsunomiya had something to do with what was shown in the presents. The Ultra Beasts in Go, The Pikachus for the new Unite mode, Mewtwo Latias and Latios in Cafe remix. Could that Shaymin on the shelf with Tyranitar and Glaceon be hinting at Shaymin coming to Unite?
My question is do they full on change typing or is it added onto the pokemon? and if it is added on then if you get a steel or ice terra type perrasect with dry skin then it can be 6x weak to fire

So on the quick glimpse we seen of Cetitan taking dmg it doesnt show a level? Might be far out but maybe the remove the level mechanic? I just don't see how gyms make sense if they don't scale otherwise

I liked the new Tera-type concept. Definitely more original than Dynamaxing. Furthermore, both Koraidon and Miraidon are super cool! Although, if they're legendaries, why are we riding them, and why so early in the game (if that's what they implied)? It seems like the whole point of legendary pokémon just got swatted.
You say that, but it is easier to imagine them playing a role in the plot, and that role cannot wait for the last act because of them being with you so early.
Note: I am sure you can think of a few examples of the Legendaries being awkwardly used in a plot.

The one thing I didn't like about this was how much they focused on old/returning pokemon. Like I get it, that's how you get back the older fans, and we saw a couple of new ones as well, but I wish there was a bigger focus on the new mons.
They may just be hiding a huge chunk of them we've only seen 13 new mon total. So theres still plenty left even on the low end of the dex numbers
I disagree. I like seeing new Pokémon but I don’t want to go into SV already knowing the entire Pokédex. Frankly I honestly wouldn’t mind if they don’t even reveal the final starter evos
I feel like the Eevee on your Rivals back might suggest a flying Eevee type as it kind of looks like clouds to me!
Flying is a physical type all eeveelutions are special. So I doubt flying eevee will be a thing

So now my questions are when do we meet the legends, still wanting to know if the Gym's level with us, how good is the multiplayer realistically especially given how sword and shields worked, great but had its fair share of Kinks and bugs will you be able to transfer over Pokemon from past games maybe not all of them but similar to how let's go Pikachu and Eevee allowed you to swap over Pokemon that was compatible with that world would be neat and what are the other two stories?
Not a fan of the crown the Pokémon get after terastallizing it would’ve really cooler if they got a form change like Megas or gigantamaxing

Im also very curious about their new spider line. Ariados was lackluster but amazing design. Galvanatula is very powerful and useful but somewhat frail.

I like the crystal part but the big hat isn't my favorite, I'm sure it'll become more fun as you play but it's kinda funky, other than that I'm super stoked for the game, glad they didn't reveal a ton of newbies and gameplay

The new regional form of whooper is Ground and Poison typing, Fidough is Fairy type and that big white one is Ice type..
Really hoping for a new eeveelution this type around, and they could add a really cool mechanic were you mix and match typings with an eevee, to have it evolve into a new eeveelution..Doubt it but would be awasome!
The type change with the crystal seems a lot like hidden power, specific to something like nature!

I like the crystalization thing, but competitive... COMPETITIVE!! It's going to be insane, I hope they just ban crystalization of your pokemon in comp because having a surprise third type attack could just totally sway the tide of battle with no real counter from any Pokemon, unless there was some way you could tell what the third, crystalized type was.

@@AZDfox I think they mean in advance: if you see a Snorlax, you know it's a Normal type as soon as you see it, so you send out a Fighting type to fight it. But then out of nowhere, it reveals its Tera Type is Flying and hits you with a boosted STAB Flying move for an instant knockout. Adds a whole layer of extra mindgames to the mix, but personally that just seems interesting to me.
I think the gimmick looks kind of dumb considering the Pokémon are fighting with ornaments on their heads…
Translation: I'm afraid of getting my ass kicked my new players so I want this new mechanic banned so I don't have to change things. Even though competitive players preach about being "Challenged" so much you'd swear they had a boner for it. In other words your showing your true colors.

The graphics and game looks awesome! I’m not really a fan of the tera evol, the designs look weird. It’s just a crown on their heads. Riding the legendaries seem cool. Not sure why The one runs instead of using his wheels. I’m still excited for the game just a little disappointed as I thought we’d see more new Pokémon
Because one is future and the other is past. It’s one of the core concepts of the game.

I'm glad you agree. I'm soooo sick of people being horny for Megas and get pissy every time the don't come back and they never even think for a second about why that might be. They're like literal toddlers, more concerned with "cool" looking mons and zero regard for balance or competitive play. Megas were SUPER overpowered, only available to a handful of mons, and only a handful of THOSE every saw any real play. They centralized the entire meta around just a few super busted mons and there was zero room for creative teams. Dynamax was a lot better in the sense that everyone could use it, but there were still some who benefited way more than others and it still made good mons more good.
THIS on the other hand is about as balanced as you could ever hope to be. It's available to every Pokemon with no special treatment to any, and it doesn't change or alter any stats. It's far more nuanced and tactical and allows for a ton of creativity. Megas were neat AT THE TIME but they need to stay in the past, because this is much better and more healthy for the game overall.
Same here. I was hesitant at first to see GIANT crystals extruding out of a Pokemon's head, but I like how this mechanic is baked into the competitive scene a little more. Adds way more depth to strategy compared to just straight up big Pokemon lol. Also really enjoyed raids from SWSH, so I'm happy to see it back

I'm waiting to see the starter's final evolution before making my final choice. But as of now, I'm going with Quaxly. If the leak is true that Quaxly's final evolution will be water/fighting then I'll go with a different starter. I hate fighting type starters, they just have too many weaknesses.

This was good. I just wish we could get something new for legends arceus and would have seen something like a silhouette of the starter evos or something. Also paldean wooper is perfect and i love him.
Basically, each individual Pokemon will have their own different Tera Types, which will change their type if they use the right Terastal. Contrary to some rumors, the Terastallization seems to last the whole battle. However, you can't Terastallize until you recharge your Tera Orb.
So what are the chances that the Treasure Hunt plotline is the pokemon version of Holes where they send you off to find stuff, you find something, and then the headmaster goes crazy trying to find more of what you found?
It's mad that when you read leaks, your reactions to the content when it's officially announced are a lot more underwhelming, because you're just like 'I knew about this all along 🤓'

So if the gyms do scale, and they even say you can complete the 3 stories in any order so what if you did the first two without facing any gyms, get your team to level 60 and then start facing all the gyms?
