I’d watch a part 2 of this video
No, we don't wanna see a Part 2. We want a Hello Kitty video.
@@TwistedAlphonso1 I would make a hello kitty video don’t tempt me
@@PaPaSea you know you played your sister's Hello Kitty Roller Rescue game on the GameCube when Pokémon made you Ragequit....don't lie.
Of all the "history of Pokemon" videos, very few actually talk about these early stages in detail. Great job
As someone who has been interested in the history of Pokémon and similar topics, I can say that this is by far the best video I’ve seen relating to it. Great job PaPaSea!
It's always beautiful to see pure passion turn into something much greater than anyone expected
And then have the passion turn into a merch machine.
Can this be a series? This is amazing!
A very well put together video. I have a lot of memories for Gen 1 in particular because there is something really unique about it to me that no Pokemon game later was able to recreate. Seeing how it was developed was really fun. I'm looking forward to more videos like this!
I always wondered why if collecting bugs was such a huge inspiration for Pokémon, why they chose to make bug types so unusable in the first gen!
Yeah, that was always so weird.
I have followed Pokémon for more than 20 years and still didn’t know all this history.
Thank u on behalf of all the viewers for putting this together
Man gen 1-6 were the best gens! So much nostalgia within them! I remember having Pokémon Omega Ruby, Pokémon Gold, and Pokémon Yellow on my 3DS and putting over 1000 collective hours into the three! I also had Pokémon Ruby and Firered on my GBA but sadly I didn’t play that too much. What’s crazy is that it’s already been over EIGHT YEARS since ORAS was released! Time flies!
This is how great things are made. A group of dedicated people had an idea and worked hard to pursue it while allowing the idea to grow and morph as they work on it. The intersection of innovation and limitations.
Fun fact. "Mirage Pokemon" is now the official term for Mythical Pokemon in Japanese.
Ooh, that's really cool! ^^ Thanks for the info!
Being a Pokémon fan since the first day I was introduced to it - which has to be somewhen in 1998 or 1999, when I was still in Kindergarten - I am still amazed about learning new details regarding the development and the coming-to-be of Pokémon. I love this series with all my heart and to this day I actually never played any video games besides Pokémon - at least not with the same intensity or enthusiasm. Thanks for those great new info!
Love this channel.
Yes! Yes!
A sequel is well deserved to this amazing video!
I have been a Pokémon veteran but have never heard this tale before. Thank you for this video!
Stuck on a stuffy four-hour train ride right now and videos just like these are what I need to distract myself and keep me going, thank you for being a godsend 🙏
Yes. There definitely should be a sequel or a series to this video. Very informative video!! Loved it.
In Germany it came out in 1999. I was 5 years old and I remembered I got Pokémon Rot (Red) and my brother Pokémon Blau (Blue). I couldn't read because I went to school one year later in 2000. My brother told me years later he was jealous because when I could play that game for real now since I learned how to read I was catching many Pokémon on my way and trained them well. Of course I still sucked at first with my Charmander (in German Glumanda) but I trained my Caterpie (Raupy) into a Butterfree (Smettbo) and trained my team very often while my brother just put out his Squirtle (Schiggy) and had huge problems later since he didn't trained his team well enough. I became the Pokémon nerd around my circle since that day
I've been a massive fan since the beginning and seeing the history is always a treat. Thank you for this!❤
I would love a sequel to this video! In fact it would even be cool if you made this an entire series, going over each main Pokémon release and the history behind it :)
This needs to be a series. Absolutely crushed this one
It's always fun learning about this kind of stuff when you see a big company and see how often that company almost didn't exist.
What gets me is that Atsuko Nishida was really such a near miss alone.
Even now women struggle to get into the game development sphere.
Yet by hiring her Pokemon got basically every single one of its Gen 1 mascots.
She designed Bulbasaur, the ENTIRE original Charmander line (and Mega Charizard X), as well as Squirtle and Wartortle.
She of course designed Pikachu.
While it was technically Motofumi Fujiwara who gets credit for Eevee, Flareon, and Jolteon. She designed Vaporeon, Umbreon, Espeon, Glaceon, Leafeon, and Sylveon.
She also designed Dratini and Dragonair.
Loved this! I'm always happy to hear something from my absolute king Satoshi Tajiri, and his story is truly inspiring! Keep this kind of videos coming!
A follow up to this would be dope. Thanks for doing the hard work man!
1996 was a leap year and Pokémon Red and Green were released two days before (Feb 27) the extra day in the leap year (Feb 29).
I knew some of this but there was a lot I didn't know.
Thanks for all the hard work you did in putting this video together, I would love to see a video on Gold and Silver.
This franchise got me addicted to monster collecting games, like Shin Megami Tensei and Ni No Kuni.
Thank/Darn you GameFreak!
I now study Onmyji and Kabalah.
Any plans on making this a complete serie? Would be interesting to see
Really excited to see a video about Gen II in this style!
I just finished watching a video about the history of Final Fantasy and the Dragon Quest games and so this video popped up in recommended (never seen your channel before)
I definitely think a follow up video to this would be awesome. How much is known about getting this game localised outside Japan? Was anyone worried? Rpgs outside of Japan was not always a good return in investment and normally tanked. Dragon quest been the best example
And then there’s the question of getting the game localised outside of America, since a lot of games back then never made it to Europe. For example, We never got Chrono Cross in Australia.
Loved this video and I really hope you make a sequel!
This is just proof that success isn't something that can be achieved over night.
History is always amazing. You have this monster (no pun intended) of a franchise that had such humble beginning
Wonderfully done I absolutely love this video I would be ecstatic to see a follow up
I loved this! It reignited my love for Pokémon nostalgia. Looking forward to more content!
This was so interesting! I'd love to see more, this was awesome!
9:01 The 1st Gym Leader Kid is in the same exact pose as Giovanni interestingly
Also Blaine's early hair design was used in the anime and in the art for Let's Go.
Yes. Sequel, please!
Great video. I really enjoyed learning more about the development process and would enjoy seeing more
The childhood bug collecting lore is so cute and wholesome
Definitely interested in a Sequel video.
You did a really nice video about games freaks history devolping the original gen 1 games im 24 now i started playing pkmn stadium and im glad to feel connected in a way with the original 151 pokemon from the mid 90,s honestly cool video
I'd love to see some media coverage of Pokemon popularity after the original release but before it hit international. Years 96 and 97 in japan.
Another banger keep crushing it!!! Big fan for awhile now 💯💪🏻🔥🔥
Always love your content, this video specifically, I love listening to, thank you!
I heard that capsule monsters was already taken by Digimon.
We do know Clefairy was considered for the mascot before Pikachu. And Blastoise and Squirtle weren’t in the same evolution line originally.
Why are a couple of the Pokémon on the drawings blurred?
The whips some trainers have are left over from an idea of having the trainers fight after the Pokémon fainted
Follow up please
Great video Papasea, I would personally love to see a follow up to this video. Amazing work.
This was amazing to watch- thank you!
3:43 and now Nintendo won't stop asking for Pokémon games, as it's become one of their biggest cash cows lol. In all seriousness, Nintendo (or more specifically Shigeru Miyamoto) deserves a lot of credit for giving the franchise a chance to begin with
this video brought to mind the question, who designed magikarp? Nishida-san or someone else? magikarp's one of my faves.
Very entertaining, please make a sequel video.
Blaine is donning an explorer's outfit, because he was part of the Mew research team and the mystery mansion, dead daughter etc
I am interested in learning more, such as why North America got Blue instead of Green and about Yellow’s development
I hope you do a continuation of this.
For some reason this video didn't show up in my sub feed until now, even though I have notifications on for this channel. Thanks RUclips for not doing your job
I changed the title and thumbnail so maybe you didn’t notice it with the old thumbnail
Another banger ppsea
A video about the development of Gold and Silver would be awesome!
Where is MamaSea?
Some questions should not be answered...
I'm MamaSea (I'm a boy and PapaSea is also a boy and we kiss each other)
She divorced Papasea.
I'd love facts on Gold and SIlver!
Good video, will watch the sequel if you make it!
hello father sea
I was wondering what Creatures Inc. was.
I would be totally up for a sequel to this vid. 👍
Great stuff dude
i like that you included background music but partially it is too loud.
9:30 That’s what he would look like in the anime
Part 2 please
Yes
I'd watch the sequel to this video
Interesting, so the original concept for Pokémon was basically Shin Megami Tensei. What a weird world that would have been.
Yes video pls
They did Mendel Palace!?
It’s ironic that this whole started because he liked catching bugs and bug types are one of the worst types in Pokémon.
Making Pokemon how Nintendo intended
Please more in depth!
Capémon, gotta cap 'em all!
I would like to hear about blue
Keep going!
This video has been a very cool listen! Thank you for this! I would be interested in hearing about the development of other gens too if you ever want to make videos on them.
God be with you out there everybody. ✝️ :)
Do you think the charisma attribute was intended to explain a Pokémon's obedience to its trainer?
2:49 is.. is that Drake Bell??
yes
@@PaPaSea hahaha thanks for the confirmation and the reply. Love the videos!
Wow image them actually delaying the release to finish the game *cough BDSP cough*
Make a sequal please
I want to see this with johto
The largest single media franchise. Disney is only bigger with its subsidiaries.
Sequel vid!!!!!!!
What does the game freak symbol mean? It looks like a thumb print to me.
I always thought it was a rocket
pokemon died after hg/ss
But he did kinda make those bug catchers annoying
SEQUEL PLEAAAAAAASE
Hey PapaSea, my wife wants to leave me for you! Can you please tell her not to?!
How was this an “untold” story?
On this channel, I guess?
Yes please
Make more❤️❤️
