    I have this tent in the 4-person model. I take it on all my Scout camping trips. As is typical on a Scout trip, I have had several opportunities to test out the rain resistance and the cold weather status. I have had nothing like the failure you have shown. The only time I had any rain get in is when I didn't have the stakes on the fly set out properly.

      I'm glad to hear you didn't have any problems with your rent, I love Coleman gear. I have since treated the seam where mine leaked and look forward to using it in the future. 👍

    I haven't had a tent that didn't leak in that kind of rain. Seam sealing will make it fine. I consider that amount t of water in that storm, it is a win.

      I have sealed it and used it since that vid Ron and she's still going strong. I agree, a good seam sealing is what it needed. 👍

    I just bought one of those Coleman tents. Small leaks like you showed in the video do not discourage me. As other viewers suggested, just get some waterproofing for those areas. Surprisingly enough Thompson's Water Seal has been suggested to waterproof the tent. I've also seen Silicone dissolved in Mineral spirits.

      I read more comments. You did waterproof the tent. What did you use? Some suggested Scotchguard. I wonder how well the Rain-X suggestion would work.

    IT didn't do alot of water in that tent .
    That little bit of water wouldn't ruin my camping trip .
    That was some really hard rain too .
    Maybe do some water pruffing before you call it quits on that tent .

      I did end up water proofing it and using it again, and it's still going strong. Coleman has some great gear.

      It didn’t fail…..most tents would have leaked some in that kind of storm. Any time there are seams and stitching there are no guarantees. That was such a tiny puddle haha. Seam sealer will correct all that. This tent is LEGIT!!

    • @YTusercomment
      @YTusercomment 3 месяца назад

      Keep a roll of absorbent paper towels in the tent with you...could blot that up easily...and may not even get that now that you sealed that seam.

    I wish Coleman would just use an internal factory taped seam design on that wall / bathtub floor seam. They do this "tuck and sew" type of design, claiming it is very weather resistant; obviously not waterproof. Seems to be a hit-and-miss; some report very minor leakage...other report none. I'd seal it first thing just to be certain.
    I have the "Coleman WeatherMaster Screened 6" tent, bought a while back. Have not had opportunity to use it yet...only did a test pitch once in my back yard in great weather. I'm sure the factory waterproofing treatment was fine, but I went ahead and hung up the Rain Fly and sprayed the external surface with Adsko Silicone Waterproofing - my favorite to use. First time I use it at camp, I will target a time of 3 - 4 days of great weather and immediately spray a good coat of Adsko along that floor / wall seam on the external, and completely seam seal that internal sewn seam. On the WeatherMaster, all of the seams on the underside surface of the Rain Fly are factory taped
    With that, I should be quite fine...as the WeatherMaster already has a great reputation for handling inclement weather very well.

    All the other tests on RUclips seem to have it leak at the tub to wall seam just like yours.
    So seal the seams and a bit of spray and you are good to go.

    I have the 4 person and only had issues when it was in the 50's and I was in it. Lots of condensation because of the dew. But have been in mine during a massive rain and wind storm in 90 degree weather and had no issues

      Lol true on that one, I fixed it with spray, I love that stuff. The actual price at the time I purchased it was $90, I think. I used some of discounts and got it for $35.

    The Coleman Weather Testing facility...looks like a great facility, but I would suggest they perform their rain test for a longer duration than 10 minutes; something closer to 30 minutes. :

    • @OutdoorAdventureandGear
      @OutdoorAdventureandGear  3 месяца назад

      Yeah, 10 minutes is not any real test, should be in the area of 8-10 hrs to be realistic.

    • @YTusercomment
      @YTusercomment 3 месяца назад

      @@OutdoorAdventureandGear - I doubt many tents would pass a "2-tablespoon" amount of water test of that many hours...we need to be realistic here. Well, maybe light to medium rain...but not a downpour like yours.
      If Coleman designs and manufactures a tent of that magnitude, then it will be much heavier and very few people would want to pay the cost for it. You think you'd buy a tent that passes that design standard for less than $100, like the Sundome? I once endured an 18 hour medium to light rain in my Eureka! Timberline SQ 4-XT...that's an upgraded 4-person Timberline model.
      I had maybe one tablespoon of water intrude in one corner, probably in the joining seam at the wall / bathtub floor...and that tent sells for at least $300 and is an ICONIC Eureka! tent with many satisfied customers for decades and Gazillions sold over the years.

      My Wife and I were caught in a severe storm for many hours, with extremely heavy downpours and high wind gust of 50mph in our Alps Mountaineering Zephyr 3 without a drop getting it in, so it can be done. Sometimes we all get ones that are lemons and ones that are amazing, just depends.

    Rain-x or turtle wax cheaper to weather proof plus protects the material from uv rays ok 😊😊😊

      Thanks for the reply Jimmy but there are many, many tents that are waterproof, and I have several myself. These videos are to alert my viewers and the manufacturers of potential problems so we all have a great experience. 👍
