The most practical video on this topic I've seen so far.
I'm an experienced non-people photographer. I've photographed a few people over the years but mainly just friends and some street. This winter, traveling in Sevilla, Spain, I saw a young gal trying to get her mother to take a decent photo - so I just asked if she would like me to shoot, showing my (non-photo) business card. Since she was with family, she agreed. In just a couple of minutes I took twenty-five plus photos. What I learned from her is that a good model makes for great photos! Nothing like I've ever shot before. (I guess she's just very practiced at selfies.) When I e-mailed the photos to her, she thought that they were great! Also, I noticed that after I took a few and complimented her, she started looking directly at the camera.
Love you vids Tommy, they're so genuine and the tips are so applicable! Please never stop!

Really great video Tommy! I'm in Melb too, just starting out on these things. I think you've convinced me to stick with landscape photgraphy! Just kidding!
Great tips! But I live in a small town and want to shoot older models. I mean, really old people, like 70+. And these people are not on Instagram. So, how do you approach models outdoors, especially if they are old, what do you say to them without looking creepy? I can't think of a single thing I could say to a person like that and sometimes I come across an interesting face, young or old and I know I won't see them again if I don't stop them right there and then. I always regret it when I don't say anything, but approaching them sometimes gets me into awkward situations which I'd like to avoid, so I don't say anything. Vicious cycle :P
It’s all your attitude. You’ll find that older people are a lot more chill than younger folks. As long as you’re not out to take advantage of them or charge them, you’ll find it’s probably easy. Just explain clearly and simply what you want to do and why.
