As a kid born in the mid 70's and growing up in the 80's, there was something so comforting when this amazing tune came on television at the beginning of the show Taxi. It was a little piece of beauty in a harsh world.

Taxi was a sitcom from the 70's.I had the touchdown album where this song was first featured.Eric Gale was the guitar soloist on this album.🎶🌴

But for a moment, imagine a world where this song played over the final shootout in taxi driver. I think the tonal shift would break my brain lol.
As others mentioned this is the theme song to the 70's TV series Taxi, one of the all time funniest tv shows. The song was named for a two part episode with a guest character who played the role of Angela, an overweight and plain looking girl who the main character, Alex, tried to help gain some self respect. Great story, you should see if you can find it online and watch it, you won't be disappointed.
