I have ADHD and love the Dashboard layout. I am in a Sterling Ink standard TN but thanks to Kim on MartinMadeTV - RUclips she did a fabulous job in, I think February and one of her layouts is very much like the simply - there is room at the top for daily to dos and you divide the bottom two thirds into 8 squares, or two narrow columns on either side and squares in the middles per day. I use the columns for a quote and word (definition/origin, can’t help it I’m an SLP or for weekly to do - that leaves my days blank until I list what to do - may sound complex but it’s not and it works for me.
An alternative daily planner I like is the Wonderland222 Notebook (not the planner, the notebook). It has daily pages structured like the Erin Condren but even more minimal. The downside if you have to go ahead and add dates to every day for the year, but that's a one-time-thing and then you're set for the year.
I am actually new to your channel and to ADHD planning. I realize now why I have been missing my dashboard planner! That is the best layout for my weekly planning and I decided to go back to it for 2024 already but it is so nice to know why I loved it so much. I have the Daily Duo too and it is the only planner I stuck with for 2 years now. You are right about having a consistent daily routine I wake up to my planner and before bed, I always look at it so I am prepared for the next day. Thanks!😃
Yes!!!! I am so glad you have figured all this out!! This weekend I am doing a new video on ADHD Planning and how to make a planning routine “stick,” so watch out for that! I am so glad to have you here…WELCOME!! 🤗
I actually like the Happy Planner Dashboard layout. I like the room for a task list that is not day dependent for things I need to do but not necessarily on a specific day. The biggest problem with using Happy planner was I fell down the decorate planner rabbit hole and Ive decided I just cant do that. I get overwhelmed with planning the decorations and finding just the right sticker that then I dont use it to plan. I found a home planner that is a weekly layout with prepopulated checklists for housekeeping items that I really like and its worked to manage the family schedule but it sits in the kitchen for everyone so I have a vertical weekly for work/ersonal stuff but not a fan of the vertical layouts. Ive been thinking about adding a daily planner instead to help me with my work schedule and tasks that dont seem to fit in the home planner.
The key really is experimenting with planners and figuring what does work and what doesn't! And you are not kidding about how overrated it is to use stickers and decorate planners...its almost a separate hobby in and of itself from using the actual planner. The stickers CAN get in the way of good functional planning. I like stickers a lot, but if I don't have time for them, I just don't. It's meant to be fun...if it's not fun, don't do it. And in my opinion, the planner is meant to be functional first. It sounds like you are still in the process of figuring out your planner/planning style, and that's okay! The journey to figuring that out is kind of fun! But you are right, don't do what everyone else is doing. Do what works for YOU!
I have ADHD and I prefer to use both. I feel the best when I can see my weekly and daily at the same time. Throw in a monthly wall calendar on my desk and I am golden. I have been using a 2 planner system at work for about 3-5 years. My favorite is the Jibun Techo Biz and Days in B6 slim. However, I need something more portable for work and will be using an A6 Hobonichi Techo with the weekly supplement. I am debating on whether or not to buy my beloved Jibun Techos.
It sounds like it’s been a lot of trial and error to figure out what has worked for you!!! That’s awesome that you know what you need!! Planner choices and shopping is so hard!
I like how you emphasize rituals being part of routines. These are often confusing for people because dictionaries define them somewhat synonymously. I’d love a video showing how habits and rituals make up part of routines. Great video!
Oh, I love this! I am writing this down now and going to work on this, thank you for the suggestion! And I am glad the video was helpful! I also have a whole video on how to do a Planner Routine if that helps as well!
Great video I have begun to make my daily duo a part of my routine the weekly verticals just sits there. The reason EC called it daily duo is because you get 2 planners 6 months in each. Love your tips.
YES!!! Someone else had told me that the other day about the Daily Duo!! I am so glad I know this now!!! Obviously I am not a frequent Erin Condren, user, lol! The weekly can be a lot to keep up with, seriously! I find I have to do one or the other, I can't do both! I am so glad the video helped you!
My thoughts on the matter is a daily. Personally, it helps me to remember everything a bit better. Good luck either way.....! My daughter is a teacher for emotional support and specials. Most are on a spectrum and need organizational skills so she gets planners for them all so they can manage their lives a little easier. It helps most of them.
You are so right and I respect your daughter and other teachers that teach those students!! Students with neurodivergent needs require support in learning these skills!! I am so glad you have found that the Daily Planner system works for you! Knowing what works is half the battle! Please tell your daughter “thank you” for the work that she does for these students!!!
The term ADD is no longer used. The DSM V has been updated to reflect that ADHD encompasses both the inattentive type (formerly ADD), and the hyperactive type (what people typically think of when they hear ADHD). Thanks for this review. I have ADHD (inattentive type) and have recently ordered the Daily Duo for 2024 and am hopeful that it will help me get myself organized for the new year.
I hope this is working well for you! I am actually a professional therapist and you are correct that the term ADD is no longer used! However, a lot of people don’t know this and haven’t received a lot of education about this, so the purpose of including the ADD title was to reach out to those who still identify with the ADD label (despite that it is currently different in the DSM). Many clients come to me saying they have “ADD,” and it does take a little time to educate! My goal here was to simply to let everyone know that is for all types of ADHD ☺️
I have adhd and use the daily duo but I fill it out once a week for the whole week. I find it too distracting and overwhelming to see the whole week at a time. I fold the daily duo over so I only see one day at a time. That way I only see what I have to do that day.
Do they make one that is undated? I've been looking but cannot find. I may have to see if I can be creative and make one. I love the Simply but need it undated so I can custom it.
That is a GREAT question!!!! Undated is actually great for ADHD, I definitely agree with that, but I have been working to find an undated layout that would be good. You are right, the Simply Layout UNDATED would be AMAZING!! I know they don't have it in UNDATED right now unfortunately, but maybe they will come out with one next Spring?! The only other option I can think of that MIGHT be close (sort of) is the Happy Planner Horizontal Layout that is undated - they do have one of those (check it out on the Happy Planner website). One my clients worked with that one for awhile (before trying the Simply Layout) and did okay with the Horizontal - their biggest complaint was that it was too much space to write. But if you are looking for undated, until they come out with an Undated Simply Layout, maybe the Undated Horizontal would be a good option? Let me know what you think!!! I do agree that undated is GREAT for ADHD because there is no feeling of having to plan every week! The OTHER idea is that you could actually re-date the Simply Layout to meet your needs (I re-date planners all the time). Get a sticker book that is for re-dating (I can suggest a good one if you are interested) that has numbers and days in it, and then you can customize your planner to the weeks/days you want! Let me know what you think either way! :-)

Love my daily duo! It has helped me tremendously!
So glad you have found success with it as well!!!
I find it relaxing to do it at- to get everything out my head-
@@debbieconnellysheppard9789 YES!!! That’s excellent!!!! I am so glad you have found a ritual for you that actually works (and a planner!)!!! 🤗
I used that planner, and I loved it! I really like my Jibun Techo Days for work, but if I could find a way to utilize the Daily Duo again, I would.
It's called the Daily Duo because you get two books :) Two six months books :)
I had NO idea that was the case! Now I know! Thank you!
I use a weekly that has the hourly for every day from 7 AM to 10 PM.
If that is working well for you, that's perfect! The key is that it WORKS!! :-)
This has been great for me.
I am so glad!

They actually make stuff like this on Etsy
There are so many other daily that are just as good. Sprouted Planner, Day Designer, ettc.
I am glad you have found something that works for you! This is just one option for sure!
