Bobby, This is wonderful. I love how you tell us that it's ok not to be perfect. I may use this method to also make myself a small greenhouse. Also, love the red rabbit I got from you earlier this year (2024). Thanks.
Hey Bobbie, thanks for the video. Kind of a new subscriber here but I've had rabbits in the past and am gearing up to have them again. They'll be inside my shop sharing a 30' X 12" space with chickens. I love this build you have here! My intention is first to replace store bought meat, we also raise cows, and then hopefully start selling rabbits and work it into a business to supplement income. At some point getting the rabbits outside into this kind of a shelter. I'm interested to see the final product here and especially how you will hang the cages. Keep the videos coming, I always learn something from watching you.
We haven’t intalled them yet but thanks so much for taking the time to write your comment. We hang the cages with 14 gauge wire and eyelets. The eyelets screw into the truss framing above. One eyelet for every corner of the cage. If there isn’t a place for an eyelet, you just simply install a small piece of 2 x 4 on the rafters above. here’s some links. Eyelets amzn.to/416Apf2 Wire amzn.to/3ZgUTiu You hang with 14 gauge wire, looping it through the eyelet and the cage wire and twist using a screwdriver, simply thread the screwdriver in the middle and twist the wire to tighten to the desired length. Ill start working on a video for you. Stay tuned…
I’m looking forward to find out how you’ll hang the cages in there. I’ve got 5 rabbit cages hanging inside my covered chicken run. I’m not entirely pleased with how I’ve done this, but hey, perfection is not necessary. Rabbits are secure and that’s the most important part.
I use eyelets on the trusses and I string, 14 gauge galvanized wire through the eyelet through the Cage wire and twist-tie looped wire. I then spin-twist with a driver to tighten/shorten to the desired length.
If you could make a list for a 8x10 version, that would be very helpful. I can't wrap my brain around what I need for it. I would greatly appreciate the help
Great new setup!!! Just in time for my own build. Any idea how many single stack cages will hang inside? Also, rough cost of this structure? Keep up the fantastic work, many young folks have less experience working with tools and this shows folks it's not too hard! We can do this folks!
You can fit approximately eight cages maybe more 36 x 30 or 30 x 30 doesn’t matter it’s 16 feet long with 12x10 feet of framed in Lumber. Here’s the link to the parts list along with the cost of the total purchase package. therabbitrycenter.com/diy-rabbit-hutch-hanging-cages/ I recommend curbside pick up it’s free and they get it all ready for you
Being covered in fur, they won’t be comfortable. I’d recommend providing full time shade and frozen one liter bottles and trade them out until the temp goes down.
@@TheRabbitryCenter Gosh…great cost! Of course, I’d have to add in the price of that cool heavy-duty equipment as well as various trips to the ER to reattach fingers, etc. 🤣😱⛑
Question: would using plastic roof panels be ok if I use white (75% light comes thru) or smoked (35%)? If so, which do you recommend? My rabbitry will be under the shade of large oak trees. I just got stacks of panels for 1/10th the retail price and would like to use them in as many projects as I can. Thanks!
Absolutely, customize it how you see fit with the materials you have on hand. You’ll save yourself a good chunk of change that way. Best of luck with your build

You’re very welcome!
If cement in posts make sure they go below frost line, my frost line is 5.5ft to 7ft so I never concrete posts in. Lesson learned the hard way lol
Looks nice. Thanks for sharing.

You seriously deserve a medal for how well you're sharing these DIY details. MIGHTY appreciated!
@@jesseherbert2585 I’m so glad you’re enjoying it
will the rabbits be comfortable in a hutch like this in a 100 degree weather with just cool water and marble tiles?

I like your build can you tell me how much you paid for all the wood and building materials to complete the structure .
You bet $800

There is nothing wrong with wearing a sweat band right out of the 80s 😉
I might be able to pull that off, thanks for commenting!
