- On today’s episode of restorations and customs with Vick, the man himself is going to be restoring an unwearable pair of Homer Simpson Nike Dunk Lows from 2004. These things have seen better days, and due to the glue being stale and old, wouldn’t survive a day on foot.
Luckily, Vick knows how to re-glue these rare Dunks and make them wearable once again.
Besides taking the shoe completely apart and putting it back together, Vick is also going to use the Reshoevn8r Signature Shoe Cleaning Kit to clean up the suede uppers, leather toe box, midsole, and the outsole.
There’s not a Dunk that Vick can’t handle…here’s how he brought the 2004 Homer Dunks back to life.
First Vick took the entire shoe apart using a pick (to remove the stitching on the midsole) and some good ol’ manpower to peel the midsole, upper, and foam insert apart. It didn’t require much force considering how old the glue is on these joints.
Now that the shoe is in pieces, it’s time to apply some new glue. Vick applied the glue and let it cure for a few hours, and then used a heat gun to activate the glue and stick the Homer Dunks back together piece by piece.
Vick Almighty isn’t a seamstress by any means, but his excellence in stitching proved helpful as he put the midsole back together stitch by stitch with color-matched brown thread.
The Dunks are now wearable…but they sure are dirty. Time to pull out the Signature Shoe Cleaning Kit from Reshoevn8r and get to work. It should easily be able to tackle and clean the suede on these shoes without damaging it.
Starting with the Soft Bristle Brush, Vick used the Shoe Cleaning Solution to scrub the uppers of the shoe. After the preliminary scrub, he noticed some underlying stains in the suede and toe box. He used the Medium Bristle Brush to remove these and then used the Stiff Bristle Brush to scrub the outsole, which was admittedly pretty clean for how old these are.
Due to both age and a foreign substance that was spilled on these at one point, the suede had some stains that were almost impossible to remove. Even after taking sandpaper to the suede, some stains still remain. But, Vick did use the Brass Bristle Brush to reset the nap of the suede, so at least they feel buttery soft again.
Lastly, Vick used some yellow dye and an airbrush to bring the yellow swoosh back to life, I mean at this point you could barely tell it was yellow at all. A quick tape job and a few strokes of the airbrush, and now you can see why these were dubbed the “Homer Simpson” Dunks.
All that’s left is to lace em’ and rock em’.
And that my friends, is how to restore the Homer Simpson Nike Dunks.
How do y’all think Vick did? For a shoe this old, we’d venture to say he did pretty darn well.
Thanks for tuning it. Don’t forget to subscribe if you haven’t already…we’re pushing more great content every week!

Nothing like some early 2000's SBs. I'm not even a fan of the colorway but the nostalgia takes me back to the days when being a sneakerhead was weird.
These weren't SB's. But I still agree with your statement. I remember walking into a skate shop days after release and still able to get multiple Dunks.
@@n3rdoutmedia ?? These were SB’s.
@@Nothingpersonal42 yeah I’m tripping. This was before the tongue tag update.

Stopped by the store again this morning! Ran into your Brother and the Guys again 🙏🏾

That was so dope! Your skills are 🍌s
Thank You! -Vick
You still did a good job Vick keep up the good work bro
Appreciate the love!
If Vick not the 🐐, he fit the description.
Vick kills it everytime!
What type of gloves did you use that actually didn't melt from the acetone? I haven't found any yet that hold up long enough to make a difference. Also, I noticed Vick snagged that lint shaved I suggested a few videos ago, let me know what he thinks of it, works great for me getting in small tight spots 👏
What lint shaver is it
be a man , trying to be a hand model or some shit ?
The only thing I would’ve done differently is get a pair of diner dunks wit the black/gum outsoles, and did a sole swap. They would’ve looked brand new after that. That heel drag was pretty bad. If I was the owner, I would’ve spent that extra $100 to snag a DS pair of a non hyped dunk in order to complete the restoration. Great job Vick as always! 👌🏾
Thank you for tuning in and sharing your feedback! We appreciate you 😊
vic always flex a fresh cut 🤣
Always lined up!
You do amazing work. 🔥
Thank you!
So $1k deadstock- what’s the value in used condition after restoration? (What’s the max someone is gonna pay?)
Great question! I'm sure they're worth a good bit!
I have a pair of Lobsters I would love to see brought back to life! Please!!
🤔🤔
@@RESHOEVN8R i’ve got some ‘04 cali dunk lows that are in dire need of a restoration, let’s make it happen 🙏🏽
Hey Vic,
Have you ever tried to a custom like putting in a full length zoom/air strobel on a dunk?
Thanks
That’s the homie Vick indeed !!!!!
He knows his stuff!
Love the vids keep it up❤❤🎉
Thank you for the support!
Let’s gooo another banger 🔥
All we do is bangers! 💯

I've always wondered, why is the sole restoration the first thing done? wouldn't it be easier to clean the shoe once it's separated from the sole and glue the two parts afterwards they are both clean?
From the looks of it, shoes with sole is stiffer which make it easier to handle so the upper part doesn't go floppy around while brushing.
Yep! plus once it's put together you can throw the shoe tree in to help with the clean if needed.
Isn’t that jacquard dye makes the suede stiffer? I used it to dye a shoe black that was originally red and it didn’t covered the whole surface but it made it stiff too.
Do u consider any suede dye
No.
Damn Vick kills it every time😳🔥
Thank You-Vick

@@RESHOEVN8R I loved it !!! This is a very nice restoration!! I would like to do the same but I don't have old shoes to do it with, I do but I have an Adidas and a Reebok. Very good work! See you !

Yo Vick so I checked on Amazon and I couldn’t find dads easy spray I was wondering did they change the name to it? Cause I don’t see the one that’s on the videos on Amazon all I see is “2 minute removal” is that da same or is there any Otha website I could find it on?
How do you take that dry look out of the sole. I recently got a ds pair of homers and they look a little dry. Can anyone please help me
It depends on the specific shoe, but we carry a product called Sole Revive to get your yellow soles back to looking fresh!
Can u do one on the North Carliona foams
Should we?
@@RESHOEVN8R yes I have a couple pair of foams that need some love 😂😂
Love it.👍🏾
Thank You!
If you were to dye the suede would the oil marks still be visible?
That's a great question. We'll have to ask Vick!
Hi Vic! I have a pair of skunks i would like to restore. Do you think you can do it for the youtube channel?
another sick video, i really enjoyed this one. vick, i have a pair of super worn cali dunk low sb’s from ‘04, i was wondering if i could get em restored by u for a video? hopefully u see this comment, keep up the good work man!
Thank You for the support! Unfortunately, Vick does not take in any shoes.
Stains on Nubuck leather is just a pain in the ass to remove. Often times the stains become permanent. good job.
Yeah it definitely takes some patience and skill! Thanks for rocking with us!
I fucking love these videos, man
Hii there i have old nike shoes from the 2009 i dont know what model its can u help me to recognise it
How much would it cost to get this done by yall?
Unfortunately we don't offer this service currently, but hope to one day!
@@RESHOEVN8R aw man, is there anyone relative to yall who could do it for a price currently??
You gotta chill Vick you just to go bro nice work… aslo have you been ever made you own shoe??

Hey everyone, Is there a way to get my shattered backboard 3.0 shining again? Please help me out!!! 🙏🙏🙏
Thanks for reaching out! After talking to Vick Almighty he mentioned using a gloss finisher on the patent leather to make it shine, but this is not a forever fix. It is really tough to get patent leather back shining.
@@RESHOEVN8R thank you so much for the support! I will try it
omg insane
Killed this one.
I have a few pair of kobe's that really could use you gifted hands if you up for the challenge

Let me buys these
I bought a pair of Nike sb dunk chlorophylls earlier this year and they look nothing like these . Like the form is hella different and they look all fat on my feet . These look all skinny and dope. New dunks I guess are just ass
Nike's always messing with the OG looks... SMH
I found a brand new sb dunk low pro parra to the second hand shoes store today sadly the seller doesn't know those was legit and he doesn't know the real price so i take them for 60 bucks but they was not my size so my wife was lucky 😅 normally i didn't know the real price either but i know was more expensive than 60 bucks for sure
SB lacing > Factory lace
