A similar thing happened to another guy only he remained calm and let the octopus check to his camera and him until the animal was no longer curious and swam away. Octopuses are always curious about everything.

It's actually really difficult to detach an octopus to something. Detaching one tentacle is pretty easy. But the octopus has many more. Even if you successfully detach an octopus from something, the octopus can do it again with more tentacles.

If you are really PADI certified, you'd realize any potential disruption of a breathing apparatus is a major concern and not a laughing matter. A friend recounted how she got her hand caught in a Giant clam; indeed, her knife saved her; but it was a tenuous situation she never forgot! And was no lightweight, leading groups though the Sahara and to the basecamp at Everest. Be well, Robert.

They are very well camouflaged, the diver probably didn't see him until he touched him and he turned red, you can see the man tried to shake off the ONE sucker on the ONE tentacle, but it didn't stop the octopus it just came at him harder. I assume he probably didn't see the creature because that is a common thing to happen to divers and snorkelers. They're diving, accidentally come too close to a camouflage octopus, it feels threatened and it attacks.
