@@ThePrufessa bone of the same *weight* is stronger than steel how ever steel is denser than bone and no animal has bones that weigh as much or are as dense as steel. Also mantis shrimp can break bone.
You have to respect this shrimp's commitment to avoiding violence where possible. The first thing he did was try to walk away from the fight. When that proved impossible, he gave the octopus an unambiguous warning. Only when it became clear that there was no way to avoid violence did he go on the attack.
