0:58 I love it when these ocean documentaries add a fish slowly backing away from the drama. Pure comedy.
I was going to comment about the same thing. I literally choked on air I laughed so hard. 😭
Like Homer Simpson backing into the hedges. 😂😂

The BBC hands-down makes the best animal documentaries currently. Gorgeous stuff.
Yep. It's just a shame it employs overpaid, egotistical arseholes.
@@mikemongrel5587 So, urm, who is making better wildlife documentaries nowadays?
Currently? The BBC for all its flaws and criticisms really do produce the worlds best nature programmes. They are second to none I would say from blue planet all the way up to planet earth iii.
Still let Jimmy Saville have his way with kids though didn't they! Swings and roundabouts
@@seanpittaway5341 30+ years ago buddy. And it has NOTHING to do with this. Basically you have just put in a deflection, which is just stupid.
We must take a moment and recognize the absolute mastery it takes to film such moments .
Probably done in a tank
Computer generated I think
Underwater drone
Probably an underwater drone. Why must you disrespect the filmmaker by saying stupid things like this.
@forcedbreathingistyranny696 cause most of this stuff is set up in a building anyway, all the sounds are just effects too, you know this?
The ocean never ceases to astound and terrify me.
Yes aliens from space go home.... The Ocean is much more frightening....
@finnwarrior fun fact, thats not true
@finnwarrior fun fact thats completly fake we know almost all of it
@finnwarrior im saying we have sent drones and other things to know most of the ocean the 5/ is where humans have actulaly been to
@finnwarrior your ot worth my time

@@WithmeVerissimusWhostoned And how is that working out for the USA hmm?

Back to the video it eas pretty common in the 90s to see a much blurry shot of an angel shark ambush in documentaries it's an iconic animal for the sand floor but I guess not everyone has seen those old documentaries
Now we need a new blue planet too
And this is exactly why the 2nd should be repealed and guns should be confiscated.@@WithmeVerissimusWhostoned
I'm now 53 years old, and I grew up watching BBC wildlife documentaries (usually starring/narrated by Attenborough) while sitting with my Dad; lots of fond memories there. If he were still around to see the incredible quality of the current stuff, he'd be truly amazed, impressed and most certainly entertained!
Even more impressive is that David is _STILL_ around and creating evermore awe-inspiring documentaries for yet _another_ generation of curious minds! It's one of the very few things the BBC spends the TV Licence on that's well worth it. 👍
That and protecting paedos.
@@Carmine_Lupertazzi Really? Tell us more.
@@Loneman_OG Sure thing. Jimmy Saville, Rolf Harris, Stuart Hall, Prince Andrew. Anything else?
@@Carmine_Lupertazzi Yeah, go and get your sarcasm detector retuned.

I like how the horn shark swam away like nothing had happened, as if it wasn't inside another animal just a few seconds prior
I bet if he could speak he'd have said "Chew on this, baby!"
Have to think it's not their first rodeo
He just needed to wear sunglasses like a boss.
He was like “not this again.”
Absolutely beautiful how effortless the angel shark just glides along the ocean floor. Amazing shots.

On every ocean documentary I’ve watched they add a fish like that slowly backing up from the drama. The editors know how funny it looks, especially with their big eyes always looking scared.
I know the one you mean, just his coupon😂
BBC Earth has the best quality when it comes to nature shows. Can’t wait to watch this series. Also love the way the Angel Shark smiles at the camera after catching it’s prey.
Lol, if you call that a smile we can't be friends! 😄
The angel shark looked like he took a bite of food that was too hot and he wanted to do the weird open-mouthed chew before deciding the horn shark was too hot lol
@@blucat4 It's called the Pennywise smile.
That doesn’t look like an Angel that looks like the Devil when it lunges at its prey
The cinematography, the music and of course the narration for Planet Earth III has been phenomenal so far!
Duuude ❤❤❤❤ I still think planets earth 2 ost is better so far but that could change i need to see the whole series
I get excited every Sunday 🎉🎉🎉hello from canada
I swear some of these shots are cgi
Soon to be A.I. if it's not already. Say goodbye to reality
My only complaint are the sound effects. They are too distracting and artificial this time around. The music can be a bit too bombastic for a nature doc at times as well. I think everything else that I've seen so far is stunning though
I swear that angel shark is just straight up grinning after every meal.
I didn't even know they existed...such a cool design
Round of applause for the young horn shark giving us a demonstration on what happens when someone tries to eat it.
Crazy how each animal has a secret weapon or attribute.
Even crazyer how its all has been driven by natural selection.

The production value of BBC programs related to nature is beyond expectations, off the charts, unmatched by any.
They just should call their Nature department: The SDA Channel.
I’ve never seen that shark before! That’s terrifying how fast it gulps down its prey!
Ha! I like how the angel shark looked as though it was thinking, "wait a minute... something's off here," then proceeds to spit out the baby horn shark.
SoCal diver for 20+ years. You've done an excellent job of portraying the absolute beauty and mystery of our kelp forests. If you're ever on Catalina Island, all you need is a mask/snorkel and fins to discover this amazing environment!

Yea, definitely no! Lol
Mixed feeling about you openly telling people about this..

Most iconic voice over for the wildlife channels
This documentary is scarier than an horror movie 😮
0:48 got me !
Nature never fails to amaze us !
Not to forget, BBC has beautifully captured it :)
The video quality of this so freaking good for some moments I doubted if it was actual footage or animation because it was just SOOO amazing. Also, props to the editors for doing a great job at making this feel like a horror movie with the sound (also, when they show the close up of the spike and there's like this little sound that kinda sounds like a blade, I thought that was awesome)
That one smaller fish backed up after seeing the others demise like “Oh Hell Naw” 😂😂😂
Wow! That shark popping out of the ground like that was totally scary! 🫣🇨🇦
It sure startled me 😮
Definitely a jumpscare. Tremor monster for undersea creatures
The documentary felt like a horror movie, perfect for this month. Amazing!✨🖤✨
BBC Earth has introduced me to countless species I didn't even know existed.
Damn let's give around of applause to our protagonist, the horned shark, we really thought it was done for, but it had other plans
Horn Sharks are very harmless and I can usually see them sleeping on the bottom. They don't mind being photographed closely and even seem to enjoy having lobsters clean them.
After completing scuba course, most of the class attended the Underwater Film Festival downtown San Diego in '90, I believe. It was beautiful beyond words. It was beautiful and emotional.
I have just seen this on television . Its amazing how much life there is in the seas
Well, d'uh.
The way things are going, not for long I've heard...
Life began in the Seas, don't you know? So, it's not all that surprising...
@@lorenzoblum868 Its a sorry thing to say . But , I have to agree with you
@@mikeoglen6848 Its surprising in the fact that these days , we know more about space than the sea . And our ancient origins are not verbal to tell us . We have evidence that is true. But, on many things we are still guessing
The shark just swam away like nothing happened 😂
Kelp forests are so intriguing.
Only the deep dark depths of the ocean can both amaze and terrify you at the same time.

You have a thing for Alex Jacques, I see.😄 He's indeed very good. Engaging and always cheerful.
0:57 I bet the editors were laughing their heads off when they put this clip of the fish in LOL
I'm curious if it's actually a fish backing up or if they just reversed the original footage.
I'm sure they reversed it
The BBC are starting to get really excessive with the swhooshy water sound effects. I swear the docs from a decade ago were much more restrained with all the foley.
Been diving off the So Cal coast for many years, seen all of these guys and a lot more. Horn sharks are the cutest things in the kelp forest.
yep! Love diving the kelp forests in Catalina
Horn sharks are awesome I have caught some that push world record size. They get alot bigger than people think and so do their spines lol. Seen every fish on this vid in San Diego bay fishing from the shore. Accidentally caught a huge Angel Shark not knowing what it was or ever hearing of one before. Was going to anyway but released it. It wasnt violent or thrashing, I handled it lightly. After looking them up when I got home I had no idea its jaws could do that, I had my hands near its mouth for awhile LOL.
They look like stingrays lol but they sure dont have stingray teeth. Knew a guy in sd who lost 4 fingers to one while trying to unhook it
2:22 I haven’t seen this exact shot since those ZooBooks commercials:
Horn Shark swims into view, then outta nowhere an Angel Shark sucks him up with an evil grin, but then he spits it out. I feel nostalgic every time I see this now. 😊

Horn Sharks are the cutest fish I have ever seen in my life!
As a kid we had this smaller fish I can not remember the name of it, yellowish with brown stripes, it was no more than a couple of centimeters. We kept it with way bigger fish because they only attempted to eat it once because like the horn shark in the video it had a spike. I still can't believe that such a small fish could live alongside way bigger fish and be left alone and live a long full life.
This is why the 2nd amendment is so important
but I mean, the solution is so simple; horn?
then why not all small fish evolve into this to avoid being eaten?
Was it a plecostomus?
@@TJBellamy99 It was not, this was very small and yellowish in color and had the mouth in the middle like a tiny catfish. It never got bigger than a couple of centimeters.

Kelp fishes and sharks, they’re more shore fishes than ‘deep sea’.

Nature is wild
Ummm...d'uh.
Whoever gave it the name "Angel Shark" obviously did not know what he/she was talking about...
The way the Angel Shark buried itself was amazing. It was like it completely disappeared the way the sand settled around it.
The horn shark was like: "If you're done being dramatic, I'll be on my way. Good luck with everything."
Thank you for sharing❤
The effort, time & patience they have put in to make this is outstanding and the nature's cruel world is phenomenal, but that's how the nature works... These videos are really relaxing & tensed at the same time🧐🙄🙂... Big thanks to BBC, camera man & Mr. David...
The world of Nature is not "cruel". This is how it is in Nature - each creature faces a daily battle to survive and only the fittest will survive.
