북 억류 선교사 아들 “김정은, 최소한의 양심 있다면 답변해야”

11년째 북한에 억류된 한국인 최춘길 선교사의 아들 최진영 씨는 지난 19일 스위스 제네바 유엔에서 열린 북한 인권 관련 부대행사에 참석해 아버지의 생사만이라도 확인해 줄 것을 촉구했습니다. 최 씨가 언론에 얼굴을 공개한 것은 이번이 처음인데요.
그가 오랜 고민 끝에 공개적 대외 활동을 한 이유는 잘 알려지지 않은 채 기억 속에서 사라져 간 그의 아버지를 비롯해 ‘김정욱’, ‘김국기’ 선교사들의 이름과 그들의 상황을 국제사회에 알리기 위해서였습니다.
Interview with Choi Jin-young, son of Choi Chun-gil, a missionary detained in North Korea. Mr. Choi, who had refrained from any media interviews until recently, spoke for the first time at a side event of the United Nations Human Rights Council held in Geneva, and subsequently engaged in a one-on-one conversation with Radio Free Asia. He stated that he decided to step forward to raise awareness about his relatively unknown father's name and to foster hope for the return of other detainees by garnering empathy.
