4:17 RIP Tom Dempsey. Amazing story. Born without toes on his right foot or fingers on his right hand. Landed a field goal from 63 yards which was a record for 40 years. On March 30, 2020, Dempsey tested positive for COVID-19, one of 15 residents at a New Orleans senior residence to test positive for the virus. Dempsey died on April 4 of complications from COVID-19
Dempsey had no toes on his kicking foot for people who didn't know also missing fingers on one of his hands. Should be in hall of Fame for his on field play. Remember 63 yards as a straight on kicker, hell that alone should get him in the hall ! I would bet no modern soccer style kicker could do it straight on !
When Todd was punter for the Panthers, I was working at a radio station that carried their games. Our sports director gave me Todd's number & asked me to try to arrange an interview. I got his voicemail... "You have reached THE BOOM! Leave a message." I'll never forget it.
I like how the runners try to mouth off like they are talking to a defensive end, and the punter just walks away like "yeah I ain't for that talk you got nailed by someone half your size."
There's a lot left out of this so-called "NFL history" video. HOF punter Ray Guy used to make a lot of tackles for the Raiders, having doubled as a defensive back in college. Once I saw a showoff punt returner try to juke him with several moves and he just kept his position and drilled the guy in the belt buckle.
One of my favorite NFL plays is Mason Crosby, the GB kicker, forcing a fumble off of Cordarelle Patterson, one of the best kickoff returner in NFL history
This is what I love about punters, they can play as QBs, Wide receivers, and also have a hand in defensive plays, I'm playing Madden 11 right now with Pat McAfee as my QB/Wide Reciever and he's dope.
Actually that was an Eagles kicker, Tom Dempsey, who also had only half a right foot. I'm like 'Geez, that was imPRESSive'. Oh & when he was w/ the Saints he set the record for longest FG made; stayed good for nearly 4 decades.
@4:05 Tom Dempsey was magnificent. Born with no toes on one foot and no fingers on another. Until recently, he had the record for longest NFL field goal. And, he can obviously tackle too. Thanks for including that.
PREACH!!! I could have sworn that I saw his first game with the Chargers on NBC and on his first punt, he outran everybody down there and laid the punt returner out with a forearm shiver. At some point, they broke it down to that dude that “hey man, I don’t know what you did in Australia, but here? We just pay you to kick the ball” 😆 Bennett was no fucking joke!
I've seen about 5 other video collections of kicker tackles.... they all have the same 5 tackles on different orders and show 2 minutes of replays for each.... your video was awesome, tons of tackles, well done
Definitely missing the Packers vs Vikings play where Crosby chases down Patterson and strips the football. Might be one of the best in history considering he actually got his team the ball back.
Watching kickers and punters tackle returners is the only time I get to see what it looks like if I just put on football gear and walked out on the field and tackled a top athlete
The surrender cobra pose on the rams sideline at 2:50 is epic. I can only assume it was the rams special teams coordinator who spent the entire week convincing the head coach that this trick play would TOTALLY WORK, only to have it blown up by the kicker.
Interesting thing is that quite a few of them actually started out as soccer players and were specifically recruited in high school/college to handle kicking duties on the school's American football team, so they had to be used to doing a lot of quick running (among other things).
When your punter has three tackles you have serious problems
I was dying laughing when I saw that.
Or an awesome punter...
Maybe the punter is just that pissed off
Maybe he needs to be on the field with the defense... instead of just special teams.
Has to be a record, may never be surpassed 😅
I watched this whole video, just to see McAfee destroy Holliday.
Me too
I gave you a thumbs up and I am a broncos fan.
Then idiot Colinsworth called him Brad McAfee
Then Holliday walks around all bowed up.
I watched it for matt Bosher delivering a Rock Bottom on Barner.
Bosher tackle was awesome.
Best Kicker tackle of all time... and he flexed on him lol
im huge patty fan and yeah that bosher takle was beast. i say was best pure takle. - puishing
You gotta love when you can hear the crowd noise go from "aaaaahhhh" to "oohhhhh"
If your referring to the one at 10:20 they actually drug tested him after that game
@@michaelingram2492 Nice! Yeah that's the one. Starts at 10:07.

Maan I love his story. Didn't know he died, that's so sad. May he rest in peace.
Bullshit, he probably died of something else and they just called it Covid
@@selfmadeselfpaid13 Lol this guy showed up. Time to listen to everything he has to say since he knows more than ever one else
@@Orverge yeah I don't believe the crap on tv.....so what
@@selfmadeselfpaid13 bro please get help for your brain worms
when ya get tackled by a man with hardly any hands and half of a foot.....
i grew up watching mr Dempsey play. dude had the heart of a lion.
Stumpy, 6-2, 255, had SIX unassisted tackles in 1974.
Yeah nobody was ever going to tell Dempsey he was “just a kicker.” I remember him well as a kid. He was a TOUGH son of a bitch.
Dempsey was a big dude for a kicker. See he died in 2020 from complications from covid19. RIP
@@7akulwicki Oh, damn. I hadn't heard that. He was the kicker when I was a college student in Philly. Hell of a player.

REVISED VIDEO TITLE:
Kickers & Punters Demonstrate The Angle of Pursuit.
Kickers with single bar face masks should get extra credit for head up tackles...just sayin’
I agree. (The single bar is no longer legal in the nfl.)
Why would anyone choose to use a single bar instead of a double? 🤪🤪
And what's on the menu? 😉
When Todd was punter for the Panthers, I was working at a radio station that carried their games. Our sports director gave me Todd's number & asked me to try to arrange an interview. I got his voicemail... "You have reached THE BOOM! Leave a message." I'll never forget it.
The Bears drafted him in the 2nd round and immediately told him not to punt the ball so far.
Good kickers can tackle, great kickers can recover their own onside kick lol
🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
I like how the runners try to mouth off like they are talking to a defensive end, and the punter just walks away like "yeah I ain't for that talk you got nailed by someone half your size."
Any video like this that doesn’t include Adam Viniateri chasing down Herschel Walker should be taken down.
I concur, I thought it would be in there. I watched him do it and I couldn't believe that happened
Also the Mason Crosby forced fumble
There's a lot left out of this so-called "NFL history" video. HOF punter Ray Guy used to make a lot of tackles for the Raiders, having doubled as a defensive back in college. Once I saw a showoff punt returner try to juke him with several moves and he just kept his position and drilled the guy in the belt buckle.
Wow…. Those 80’s sound bytes just made my spiked mullet come back out 😁👍
Getting a hit from a kicker that caused a fimble? Ball retention the next week in practice must have been brutal.
One of my favorite NFL plays is Mason Crosby, the GB kicker, forcing a fumble off of Cordarelle Patterson, one of the best kickoff returner in NFL history
Kickers & punters should definitely be exempt from taunting penalties.
Ah, the good old days, when there was actually a chance of seeing something exciting on a kickoff...
Ah, another delusional geezer.
Patterson, Bears, Monday night.
You forgot the tackle Vinatieri made when he ran down Herschel Walker from behind.
I came in for Vinatieri... read this comment. Closed after 20 seconds.
4:40
Love this guy's effort. He stretched and launched with everything he had but he wasn't leaving anything unquestioned.
Adam Vinatieri running down Herschel Walker was one for the ages as well.
the bosher chokeslam tackle will always be my favorite.
I like how Holiday walks at the end like he didn’t just get destroyed by Mccafee
4:18 walks/jogs off to have another beer
No doubt about it lol
This is what I love about punters, they can play as QBs, Wide receivers, and also have a hand in defensive plays, I'm playing Madden 11 right now with Pat McAfee as my QB/Wide Reciever and he's dope.
Bruh the jets kicker had no right hand and was overweight and still made a tackle salute to him
Funny thing is, he did it all the time players had to keep an eye on him. He was fat but he could run. Not my team just has a lot of respect for him.
Actually that was an Eagles kicker, Tom Dempsey, who also had only half a right foot. I'm like 'Geez, that was imPRESSive'. Oh & when he was w/ the Saints he set the record for longest FG made; stayed good for nearly 4 decades.
@@JoeVideoed the green had me alittle confused cause it was throwback lol but yea salute to that man
he died in april due to covid 😞
Stumpy, 6-2, 255, had SIX unassisted tackles in 1974.
Kickers making big hits, and Linemen running the ball are my 2 favorite things in football
Holliday trying to look tough after that hit just looks embarrassing. Bro, the whole world saw you get laid out.
luda cris yeah. He had a nasty case of I.L.S. (Invisible Lat Syndrome)!!
That was a great return.
yep and i'm a Bronco fan.
He had an amazing return. Plus he’s 5’4 weighs 130lbs. You’d celebrate too
... By the kicker
Rocca was straight DIRTY....Just grabs a handful of that Cowboys facemask and drags him down 😂
Well in American speak Sav was 6"5 and 247 lbs, so it wasn't as though he's a little timid bloke.
You really gonna leave the Chris Jones hit against the lions out
When your kicker makes 3 tackles on the day, you know your team has very serious problems on special teams.
I could watch these types of plays all day and night
I've been waiting for a compilation like this for a while - thank you for putting it together.
@4:05 Tom Dempsey was magnificent. Born with no toes on one foot and no fingers on another. Until recently, he had the record for longest NFL field goal. And, he can obviously tackle too. Thanks for including that.
No fingers on another foot? Me neither!
He looks like Ron Jeremy. lol
Finally, one of these compilations that pays tribute to the absolute legend which is Darren Bennett!
And that wasn't even his _best_ tackle!
PREACH!!!
I could have sworn that I saw his first game with the Chargers on NBC and on his first punt, he outran everybody down there and laid the punt returner out with a forearm shiver.
At some point, they broke it down to that dude that “hey man, I don’t know what you did in Australia, but here? We just pay you to kick the ball” 😆
Bennett was no fucking joke!
Yep, this entire video could be Bennett highlights.
The beer man!!! I miss watching him play!!
This video was so much longer than I expected 😊thank you
When the announcer says that the state troopers are hitting harder than the Jets defense I damn near died laughing..
I have a memory of Dempsey absolutely laying out the return man when he was in Philly, I was hoping to see that here.
Thought for sure I would be seeing Pete Gogolak tackling me, not once but TWICE in the early 70’s!
That’s awesome to see the real billy walik, how’s it been since football retirement?
Life’s been good to me somehow!
Great video. A lot of these are on some of the bigger compilations
I see the Colts have had some what of a history hitting kickers.
They have a history of 1) trouble stopping the run and 2) porous kick coverage
I love the pat macafee hit when he did the conner McGregor strut lmao.
I remember the Pat McAfee hit he put on the Broncos return guy, I was watching that game live and it was great, even though I’m a Broncos fan. 😂🤣😂
Pat outweighed the guy by 50 pounds, and had the angle on him.
But Pat can swim in drainage ditches better than the Broncs guy.
Damn right, you put The Man With The Brand™ as the finale. Thank you.
I think a lot of those fights started with “You just got tackled by the punter/kicker”
10:13 you know Bosher has just yelled “yeah Bitch!!” 😂
I've seen about 5 other video collections of kicker tackles.... they all have the same 5 tackles on different orders and show 2 minutes of replays for each.... your video was awesome, tons of tackles, well done
How do you continue a career after getting tackled by a kicker with half a foot and a missing hand
In 1974, Stumpy had SIX unassisted tackles.
He was big, 6-2, 255.
I love how on Bosher's tackle, all you seem from his teammates are white teeth and big smiles. Way to heat up your team a bit there
Mitch Berger was probably yelling “come on, I have 3 tackles that’s f**king embarrassing!!!!!!”
I'm looking at him and thinking he's like " hey motherfuckers - it's my job to kick the ball It's YOUR job to make the fuckin tackles"
I just love seeing a punter make a tackle.
Those last two were epic
Up-Downs all day on Monday if you're a returner who gets tackled by the punter
Best one you missed is Chris Jones on a lions returner
fr
Whenever I see my team having a big run back of a kick, I always scream at my TV, "Don't let the kicker get ya!"
Brian Moorman was the fastest punter/kicker in the league during his time, and faster than some skill position guys, he just happened to be a punter.
Definitely missing the Packers vs Vikings play where Crosby chases down Patterson and strips the football. Might be one of the best in history considering he actually got his team the ball back.
Happy to finally see Matt Barr in one of these!
Yup. Me too.
Bro this was great
Awesome video!
“Punters are PEOPLE too”
With half this right foot missing, Tom Dempsey still make open-field tackles.
So glad they got Tom Dempsey on here.
....that tackle at 10:13 looked like a sidewalk slam from Ron Simmons.
ALWAYS Love to see SD P Darren Bennett lay out returners!-lol
How could you not include Vinatieri catching Herschel Walker...best kicker tackle ever!
It never happened
@@thejman8734 ? It happened. Try searching:
adam vinatieri runs down herschel walker
Didn’t see the really good Chris Jones tackle down the sideline
4:09 Imagine getting tackled by an overweight kicker who has one hand and is missing half a foot. Tom Dempsey certainly was an anomaly.
Stumpy, 6-2, 255, had SIX unassisted tackles in 1974.
@2:00 Berger was goin crazy that game 😂😂
And the lights went out all over the world!
McAfee is going to be a legend among kickers in his own family!
3:20 - That definitely will be the most remembered play by a kicker from that game...
Haushka for the Seahawks had some good ones

Why is it that kickers suddenly turn into badass shit talkers as soon as they make 1 tackle
A Tampa Bay, Detroit highlight featuring a tackle by a punter, that's what I'm talking about!
The first one with Matt Bryant was a pretty good tackle!
would have liked to have seen the Adam Vinatieri rundown of Hirshel Walker
Was hoping the Matt Bosher tackle would make it in, was not disappointed. Miss that guy, great punter and could tackle like a truck!
Never underestimate a kicker or a punter.
That bosher hit was nice
Pretty good compilation, but you should show the replays of each tackle as wel!
I finally found out why kickers get in the face of the people they tackle, it’s because they have a rush of adrenaline
Love the Aussies in Sav Rocca and the one from San Diego (former Australian Rules footballers)
Darren Bennett! We need a Ben Graham appearance in there too.
Todd Sauerbrun could have his own highlight video bc he made a bunch of tackles in his career.
Some of those kickers/punters have surprising speed
Interesting thing is that quite a few of them actually started out as soccer players and were specifically recruited in high school/college to handle kicking duties on the school's American football team, so they had to be used to doing a lot of quick running (among other things).
Quite the mugging by Rocca.
Best one is Boshers tackle
That wasn't a tackle, that was a pile driver 😆😆😆
He body slammed that guy on the kick-off ...classic
@@johngibson2884 😁
I remember P making "decleating" tackle in Pro Bowl. Just need to FIND footage....
Remember when Adam Vinatieri with that closing Speed!!!!! Stopped a kick return but that returner was no other than Hershel Walker?!!!! ☠️☠️☠️
Glad you save the best for last.
I understand why they got rid of them, but man, I miss the old kickoffs with those wild returns!
kickoffs were not taken away and no you don't understand why they're trying to either.
InTheZone: whoa, sorry to anger you. Have a great weekend and enjoy the big game tomorrow!
Kicker making 3 tackles in a game? Practice must have been brutal that week.
good vid
gotta be embarrassing when you're a quick-as-lightning return man and you get trucked by the punter.
"HE COULD GO ALL THE WAY!"
Bro, Jones on the Cowboys trucked dudes left and right lol.
When a guy with a journalism degree says, “that could have went…”
00:51 lol I miss that old NFL highlight music. In retrospect, it was so fucking weird.
