    Great video, I am importing my vertical video but it is rotated when appears in blender. How did you import it like this? Do I have to make it image sequence instead of mp4?

    • @user-jj7bf7qk9j
      @user-jj7bf7qk9j 5 месяцев назад +1

      I found the solution of this irritating problem : vertical vid gets converted / rotated to horizontal vid.
      1. import the vid
      2. then click ADD, its in the up-center beside view , select, marker .
      3.click (effect strip) then (Transform).
      .....above ur vid and audio file, a transform file will appear....
      4. click N button on keyboard to open properties of that Transform file.
      5. go to (transform) in the properties and then in (Rotation) and make it -90 degree( minus 90 degrees)
      Done with this
      6. after go to Output properties( its on the full right side, where other properties are with diffrnt symbols.)
      7. here u have to change the resolution. if u have 1920 by 1080 vid then simply reverse it, example... X= 1080 and Y = 1920. if 4k video then X= 2160 and Y=3840. this will make ur vid vertical.
      8.lastly adjust ur frame rates and start and end of video, as u want ur video to be.(u know this)
      9.render the animation( cntrl + f12)
      Thnxx me later. apply this. ask freely any Q.

      Yeah, you’ve just discovered the entire reason us VFX artist like working with image sequences instead of videos. Each program reads video files in their own way and it can get weird based on the codec and setting for the file. Usually we’ll convert the file to a lossless image sequence and then convert it back to a video file at the very end to solves most transfer problems like that. Hope that helps!

    A great tutorial! I have followed the steps in the tutorial. However, in my current scene, which involves VFX + particle rigid body (raining objects), I am facing difficulty when the objects fall from the sky and hit the chair on the left. I am considering creating a holdout or shadow catcher on the left, but I'm confused because it penetrates the ground (gets cut off). Any advice?

    • @spearcy
      @spearcy 6 месяцев назад

      Just some thoughts. If you have any tracking markers that came from the chair, you can use those to make that chair in the same space, then image map it (proj from view or texture coordinate with window ), and set it to rigid body passive. Have a separate passive floor.

    • @Jacob_Zirkle
      @Jacob_Zirkle  6 месяцев назад

      Just go back and redefine your ground plane. You want to make it perfect and then you can set the origin and x or y axis after that.

    Great tip about setting the camera sensor to horizontal when tracking vertical vids! (it's kind of ironic how it sounds...) Also ironically, at 5:55 you unchecked "render undistorted" and said you were unchecking it because you didn't want to account for any lens distortion. But doesn't "render undistorted" mean that it won't account for lens distortion in the render?

    • @Jacob_Zirkle
      @Jacob_Zirkle  4 месяца назад +1

      You would think that however the term undistorted is a little counterintuitive. The base footage is distorted due to the lens distortion and if we check render undistorted, it’s going to distort our background image to be perfectly flat and remove distortion thus it being called undistorted. The reason I don’t like having that in my viewport specifically is so I can see the orginal plate unaltered. Of course if cg looks like it’s sliding on the edges I can check that to double check it’s correct but the idea is that we want to distort our CGI in composting rather than distorting the image itself. Hope that helps and it’s a little confusing at first

    • @spearcy
      @spearcy 2 месяца назад

      I just noticed that when I uncheck render undistorted my cube and plane will slide, but when I leave it checked they stick to the track. But in your video, you didn't have that happen when you unchecked it. Is there another place where that gets dealt with in the tracking section? Or maybe it's just a glitch in my project.
