    Nice editing. Only 6 min in but have to comment on how well this is done. There’s no dead space where you want to fast forward, you don’t dum anything down, but you also make everything simple and clear and repeat important parts, youre aware of extra information that would be useful, which is a hard balance to achieve. I could go on but I’m sure you’ve heard enough

    Wow, actually something useful
    12:50 Shadow catcher not only catches shadows, but casts indirect lighting on your objects as well as may be visible in reflections iirc
    so, sometimes it's better to give it a material and/or assist it somehow in material editor
    UPD: well, havent noticed collection was prevented from casting bounces
    UPD: 17:52
    Its literally the same way, except saves some time for compositing. once 3.0 released they've reworked denoising, so, you never need to use compositor denoising *ever*.
    Just wastes time and spare RAM for additional layers

    Amazing tutorial!
    I was wondering, is it possible to render out a reflection pass the same way as the shadow pass?

    • @SharpWind
      @SharpWind  2 месяца назад +1

      Of course it's possible, just in a slightly different way
      You'd add a reflective plane on the ground, make it not be a shadow catcher, but put it in it's own collection and turn it off for all render layers.
      You'd then make a new render layer, which only includes that plane, and secondary bounces for your character and in the view layers tab, you'd turn on glossy indirect, i believe - and that's your reflection pass (if glossy indirect isnt the one, try other glossy passes)

    I've got a drone shot that i tracked and set up the scale successfully but when i add my mesh it just drifts like it is moving in the footage i'm, not sure how to fix that

    • @SharpWind
      @SharpWind  3 месяца назад

      You either have a large solve error, which is making it slide, since it wasnt solved properly
      Or your ground plane isn't on the same level as your ground trackers (meaning your mesh isn't standing on the floor, but it's either floating above it or underneath it), making it look like it's sliding
      Make sure your solve error in below 0.5px, or at least below 1px, and position your ground plane on the same level as your floor trackers - you should see your trackers in the 3D viewport after you're done. If you move/rotate the camera, the trackers will move with it, so you can align ot easier

    • @SharpWind

      Of course there is
      Model the hole and the wall/floor it's sitting on and make the wall/floor a separate object.
      Down where the shadow catcher i, theres also a holdout option - that turns everything behind the object invisible, so the hole is only visible if you're looking directly in it, but its covered up by the wall/floor when seeing it from the side
