    I learned something today, they're called reflectors, I asked my mom today , she just turned eighty, if I could have some ornaments, she said " shure, you can have all you want!" Thanks for the videos, really helped me find my happy place filled with Christmas spirit , merry Christmas

      I'm thrilled you asked for the ornaments and Mom parted with the treasures. Did she share stories of the ornaments, where she bought them? That to me is super cool, the sharing of memories. Merry Christmas.

      Kitty, it is my pleasure. It seems like we all need a little Christmas-right this very minute, to quote the wonderful song.

    That 5 petal "Premier" "Reflector Ball" has a Corning Cap, not the old size Corning Cap that was the same size as Premier and Hedt ornaments, but the 1941?-ish size that Franke etc. used. I want to see the neck on that one.
    At 2:31 she shows the Corning Ornament Shape Guide. The "Reflector" in the middle of the top row is that Blue job.
    (At least to my eyes and the ornaments I have handled.)

      Richard, there are at least two versions of the blue ornament in 1940. One with the Corning cap and one with the Premier cap. I'm working on a war ornament video and for consistency, I'll show the Premier cap version. Thanks for watching.

    Jody I am on the hunt for war time unsilvered ornaments. Would you ever consider teaching us how to tell the difference between authentic unsilvered and those that have been altered and how that is done? I just know some of the shapes I look at just can’t be authentic unsilvered, but I’m not sure how to tell them apart?

      Gay, thanks for bringing up unsilvered ornaments, they are a favorite of mine. I'm on it as a video lesson. If you have pictures showing ornaments that have been altered, send them to me at booksbyjody2021@gmail.com.

      Frequently, if it's silver loss, you can see residue or spots. I see these called "unsilvered" online. There were post war Shiny Brites intentionally unsilvered too, I have one with red stripes and mica.

    Thank you very much I have learned a lot. Do you know anything about Knee Hugger pixie Elf

    • @jodypritzl8250
      @jodypritzl8250  3 года назад

      Cathy, reaching out to some experts at the Golden Glow of Christmas. It seems as though many folks collect the knee huggers but likely some research is needed. Appreciate the opportunity for learning more about Christmas decoration history.

    • @jodypritzl8250
      @jodypritzl8250  3 года назад

      I did some research Cathy.
      Before Santa Claus had an elf on the shelf, there were pixies making holiday magic.
      It is a fairy tale that begins at Halloween when legend has it that pixies and elfs exited their homes to enter the world for one year. A popular poem captured their journey:
      Pixie, Kobold, Elf and Sprite
      All are on their rounds tonight
      In the wan moon’s silver ray
      Thrives their helter skelter play
      Post war demand for Christmas goods prompted fairy tale magic to be mass produced in the late 1940s and early 1950s. Children used their allowances to buy pixies with bendable arms and legs.
      In the 1960s the Knee Hugger Pixie came to market when Japanese manufacturers created a new pixie version by marketing the felt dolls with pre-bent knees and tucked arms. The product was so successful, in 1968, some retail stores, limited packages of three Knee Hugger Pixie Elfs to one per customer for $.79.

    I have over 10 boxes of gold shiny brights and have no idea what to do with them. sell but no idea what they are worth.

    • @jodypritzl8250
      @jodypritzl8250  3 года назад

      Cynthia, it depends on whether you have original boxes and the condition of the ornaments. Check for prices at your local antique store or enter shiny brite into an ebay search.
