      @@jodypritzl8250 Great video! I’m just beginning to collect vintage ornaments so this is very helpful! I am trying to identify and old ornament that I have. It is pink fish scale and has a tiny round cap that has a small circle in the center with the letters CO and CA on the cap. I’m concerned that it may have asbestos “snow” on it as opposed to mica. Would you have any idea on the maker based on the cap? I bought it at an antique store and if it’s asbestos I don’t want it in my house!

    Hi!
    I just found you channel a few days ago and have enjoyed watching all of your videos. I had no idea about the caps having 5, 10 and 15 cents stamped on them. I'm going to have to check my caps! 😂 I ordered your book on American Made Glass Christmas Ornaments. This will be a great reference to age my Ornaments when I drag them all out again this winter!
    I'm thinking the stenciled Shiny Brite bulb came in 3 sizes- regular, small and the jumbo ones that were sold in that 3 pack dimestore box??? I was wondering if that is correct and in what order they were released or did they make all the different sizes from the start?
    Thank you for any info!
    PS- The Merry Christmas with Holly Spray is my favorite as well.

    • @jodypritzl8250
      @jodypritzl8250  Год назад +1

      Sizes are tricky with a lot of combinations. I can date 3" bulbs to 1947 but the three packs weren't introduced until the 1950s. 1 3/4", 2", 2 1/4" were original sizes and date to 1939-forward in boxes of one dozen but were introduced as five packs, six packs, and eight packs in the 1950s and 1960s. Glad to help identify any specific ornaments, email me at booksbyjody2021@gmail.com or go through the website, booksbyjody.com. I may someday just decorate an entire tree with Merry Christmas with Holly Spray.....

    Aren't reflectors also known as indents? What years do the reflectors date to? Also, I'm curious to know when was the last year for the original run of SB's, and what has happened to the SB brand between then and when Christopher Radko bought the rights to the name. Finally, what's your professional opinion of the Radko-era SB's? Thank you in advance for taking time out to answer my inquiries.

    • @jodypritzl8250
      @jodypritzl8250  Год назад

      To lessen confusion, I'm sticking with reflectors. First introduced in Germany, some reflectors date to the 1800s. For American-made, Premier was first in at least 1939 followed by Corning-produced. If you have time, I did a video on reflectors.
      Cliff notes version of my books.....Max Eckardt sold Shiny Brites in 1955, multiple ownership changes, the brand went dormant, until Christopher Radko recreated the iconic designs.
      I applaud Mr. Radko for honoring the legacy of Shiny Brites. Perhaps, reproductions have inspired people to rescue and preserve the original Corning bulbs. I just hope that if an ornament is a reproduction it is clearly stated as such to a buyer.

      Tracy,
      I suggest reading the Amazon reviews. Most readers say the book helps them identify what they have, another expressed disappointment. I wrote the book to preserve the history of American Made Glass Christmas ornaments. After ten years of writing and 385 endnotes, nearing the publication, i added in ten pages of black and white photographs, naming the ornaments, grouped by years and a page of ornament caps. I needed to print in black and white to keep the book affordable. I strive to be transparent and honest. Merry Christmas.

    Great video! I am beginning to collect vintage ornaments and this video is so informative. I am trying to identify an old ornament by the cap. The cap is small and round but has a small circle in the center. The cap is short and has no scalloping whatsoever. It has CA and CO on the cap. I’m afraid that the “snow” is asbestos rather than mica. It is pink glass with white fish scales. Can you recommend someone who might be able to identify it? Where can I get your book?
